Gets the job done
I bought this a year ago for use with HomeKit (Siri) for backyard lights. It isn’t perfect, but it earns the fifth star:The bad: Setting up took a few tries, and maybe twice in a year, HomeKit required me to re-pair the device for reasons unknown. Requires you to turn off 5GHz, if you have it, to set up (2.4GHz only). Also, you may have to try a couple different names for the device and the separate outlets if you want to be able to control each plug separately while retaining the ability to turn them both on and off as a single device (e.g. front yard, back yard, whole yard). The good: Does the job. Switches on and off very quickly. Wifi works fine once it’s set up. If it requires re-pairing, the process isn’t difficult. The button on the device works reliably even before it’s set up. Waterproofing has been reliable for a year, even through pretty heavy storms. The best: a week ago, I had to re-pair it and discovered that I hadn’t written down the HomeKit code, and the sticker that had it printed on had come off. So I wrote in to Meross through their support page with a couple pieces of info (the device’s default WiFi network name and its MAC address, both available from my Eero router control app), and they got back to me in a day with the HomeKit code for re-pairing (along with an apology for taking so long). I was very pleasantly surprised with that kind of high-quality customer support.

HomeKit compatible dual outdoor outlet
I needed an outdoor smart plug for my Christmas lights. Iâve used indoor ones and ran extension cords out through my crawlspace, but this was inconvenient and likely dangerous. I use many Meross plugs and bulbs so I trusted them. The unit has 2 outlets, which are individually controllable. This worked great because I needed to control 2 separate zones at different times. Ex: Zone 1 I keep on for my inflatables so they donât flop down in the daytime. Zone 2 was for lighting that I only want on in the night.Even though this plug was outside and far from my router, it kept a solid connection. It integrated into Apple HomeKit seamlessly. This remote smart outlet works great!

homekit compatible outdoor plug
I’ve been using Meross outdoor plug for a few years now and it has worked flawlessly. I’ve never had issues with signals, unlike other brands which has issues connecting to my router on a Mesh Network (since it does not have a 2.4 and 5 ghz signal separate)Unfortunately, my outdoor plug (it was an older model) just stopped working a while ago. I can’t figure out what happened but it served me for 4 years so no complaint. I ordered the newer model and it has been working great. Price seems to be great for a 2 outlet smart plug with homekit compatibility.

Working as expected after recent Homekit + firmware updates (Updated Review)
Updated Review 8/30/23Ever since the recent Apple Homekit and Meross firmware updates, my plugs have been working great and staying connected to both the Meross + Homekit apps. Seems it was more of a software than hardware problem. Thanks Meross for staying on top of this!—————————–Original 1-Star Review 6/26/23Piece of crap…works for about a few days, then loses connectionBought three of these. When they work, they’re great. Problem is, you can’t depend on them to work for long. Totally unreliable, don’t waste your money.

Reliable and easy. Good for Xmas lights.
This is a sturdy, easy to use unit with reliable Alexa integration. Even though itâs only rated for 10 amps or 1250 watts, it uses a higher grade, weather resistant 14 AWG electrical cable rated as SJTW, 105C. The outlets are plugged with thick rubber caps that look like theyâll hold up well. Setup is simple, thanks to well written instructions and a good app. Thereâs a separate set of instructions for the Homekit users too. It has a handy notch to mount the outlet to the wall (though I wish this was offset so that the screw would be accessible). Thereâs also a little loop on the strain relief that can serve a similar purpose. The app is great. It does a good job of guiding the setup process and it seems to be written by someone who understands English like a native speaker. Once set up, the app has a couple features that are sometimes overlooked: a countdown timer so that the outlet will automatically turn off after X minutes and an option to turn off the LEDS. Plus, thereâs a widget to control devices directly from the homescreen. Also, it has one essential feature that every manufacturer ought to have: a direct link to the manual.Alexa integration works flawlessly and the wifi range seems good. Alexa commands are carried out reliably and with no more than a couple seconds delay. Alexa routines also work well. Each plug can be named and addressed independently. The unit as a whole can also be named. (Hint: use names that sounds distinctly different.) Right now I have the unit about 150â from an access point, going through half a dozen walls, in a RF congested area and Iâve had zero issues.

No problems integrating it to the Meross app and to Homekit. I was somewhat concerned about reliability in very cold weather, but no issue so far. Installed outside the house, no connection problems. But be careful! I purchased a second Meross plug, it looks almos identical, but it is not compatible with Home Kit. Therefore, if you want to integrate with Home Kit, carefully read the specs, it should be stated HOME KIT COMPATIBLE.Not a big problem though, the Meross app works very well with both of them, one can conttrol each receptacle separately, and establish programes for ON-OFF.

Lasted a harsh Canadian winter in the prairies! It turns on and off as expected every day. There were 2 times where unit malfunctioned. One time is because there was a firmware upgrade and the other time was a mystery. I simply unplugged it and waited 30 seconds before plugging it in again and worked no problem. It is about 50 feet from our wifi router and no issues with connection. The app is fantastic and works well with my iPhone. I’ve tested its integration with Apple Home and no issues at all. It also works with Alexa, Google, and SmartThings. The best feature is setting the on/off times. I have my patio lights come on automatically 30 mins. before sunset and off by midnight. I’d buy another one if needed.

Build quality is a big thing for me. And this didn’t impress. Not bad, but I woulda liked better.Pros1#. It’s Home Kit compatible. On that note, it allows you to add it to your home app even if you don’t have an apple home hub. Which is funny. It adds it to apple home app during setup, so I guess that’s its work around.2#. Works.Cons.1#. Not impressive build. $20 Kasa plug feels a lot more solid.2#. Only one button on the plug itself. I guess it turns on and off both plugs at once.3#. Kinda clunky app. Not really bad, but the Kasa one is a lot nicer. Also Kasa setup is easier. Its an ok smart plug, but I returned it and got a Kasa one.

Very simple to connect to on IPhone, used to turn on outdoor lights remotely

This is the worst smart home product I have ever owned. Bad enough that I am coming back here a year later to leave a review (which I never do). If you are lucky enough to actually get this thing to connect to your HomeKit setup, consider yourself lucky and don’t touch it. This thing will lose connection often and need to be power cycled. I got it to connect to my HomeKit initially after a few tries. Eventually I tried adding it to the native Meross app as well to update the firmware. Big mistake. As soon as you try to add it, it loses connection completely and no longer works in your Home app. Have to reset it and re-add it which usually takes 20+ tries and lots of rebooting of phones, routers, devices and shutting off 5ghz wifi. I’ve gone through this a few times now, and tonight was the final straw which has led me here disgruntled on a Saturday night leaving salty reviews on the internet. This thing refuses to connect to HomeKit or Meross and I’ve collectively lost hours of my life fighting with it. I’ve got some other Meross outlets in my system that have shown similar shoddy quality, but this one is next level bad. Do not waste your time with this brand. The value is not worth the inevitable headaches
