Great light
Easy to add to HomeKit. Best choice I made was sending the old version back because it would not connect to my device!

Love these.
These are great and we use them with apple home. Really fun to change color and be able to voice control our lamps since we have quite a few. They donât flicker at all – we have had some for over a year and they are still going strong.

Inexpensive, reliable, Wifi bulb. Some limitations.
SETUP:I use Apple Homekit for most of our smart devices. Within Homekit, setup was relatively easy, once I worked past a limitation of my router. We have a Google Wifi mesh router and there is no way to âswitch offâ the 5.0 gHz radio. The Meross devices, including this bulb, will only attach to a 2.4 gHz network. Many routers, you can go in and switch the 5gig system off, and this would allow setup to be a breeze. For me, I have to unplug all of my Google points (pucks) except for the main one, get as far away from the main router as possible and refresh the wifi signal on my phone until my phone attaches itself to the 2.4gig network. 5gHz wifi does not pass through walls or other objects as well as 2.4 does so the further you get from the router, the better chance of attaching to the 2.4gig signal. Once I did that, the bulb appeared as a new device in my Apple Home app. I then plugged in the 8-digit code and the bulb was added to my âHome.â After this was done, I added the bulb to my Meross app as well. This way you can do any firmware upgrades and such. Apple Home app does not let you do any of this.THE LOOK:My first reaction to full brightness was slight disappointment. I have the bulb in a table lamp and wish it was a bit brighter for reading and such. That said, for many applications, I think the brightness would be sufficient. The bulb seems to have limitless color options. The Home app and the Meross app give you two different scales in order to adjust the color labeled âColorâ and âTemperature.â If you know about lighting, this is kind of weird because ALL color has a temperature. However with this bulb, the âcolorâ setting gives you access to a color palette of what I call âparty lights.â Reds, blues, green, etc. The âTemperatureâ setting basically allows you to setup the bulb between the colors often labeled as âdaylightâ or âsoft whiteâ if you are trying to match this bulb to existing light in the room. I was able to get it to match the bluish daylight coming through the window in the 5000k range as well as the more orange temperature, 3000k-3500k of some conventional light bulbs in the room. I just kind of wish these 2 setting were combined into 1. I think it would be easier to setup.USE:The bulb responds to the Home and Meross apps well, although I think the Meross app allows for faster, more consistent adjustment. The Home app seems a little more sluggish when making changes. It doesnât always update the graphics when the bulb changes. For instance, if the light is colored white, sometimes the graphic shows it to be red. I suspect this is just how Homekit works and might work better with firmware updates in the bulb. I feel like Homekit is more for making specific programs, or âscenesâ of multiple connected devices and automating them rather than making real-time changes to your devices. The Meross app is very snappy when making real-time adjustments. You can also use the Meross app to create âscenesâ and âroutinesâ (their terminology for automations) although I didnât test any of this since I use Homekit. As I said, I put this in a table lamp. After testing this bulb thoroughly, I removed the bulb and replaced the standard soft white LED bulb that was originally in the lamp. It is a 3-way bulb that gets far brighter. The Meross bulbs works well, but not in this location. My only true âdeal breakerâ with this bulb is if you turn the lamp off at the switch, it comes back on in the last known state. For instance, if the light is set for a red color at 50% brightness, that is how it will come on if the lamp is turned off conventionally at the switch. This may be fine for some, but for me I do not want to have to go find my phone to turn the light on and off all the time. If I have the light very low while watching TV, turn it off at the switch to go to bed, and my wife turns it on the next night, I want it to come on full bright immediately so it is usable right away. For many, this is likely not a big deal, but in our home it is. We have a 4-bulb lamp in our home office (different brand of bulbs) where my wife has the 4 bulbs facing different directions and has them programmed differently for different times of the day (i.e. sunrise, full sun, dusk, clouds, etc.) to reduce reflections on her computer monitors. When leaving the office for the evening, she simply shuts off the wall switch. In the morning, she can just turn on the switch and all 4 lights come on full and she can adjust from there. I would really like to see this functionality in a smart bulb that is to be used for primary lighting. I think this would be a good bulb to use as an âaccentâ light somewhere, or in a kidâs room, or as a novelty but I really donât have any practical use for it as a primary light source.PROS:Easy setup (unless you have a Google mesh router)Infinite color optionsInexpensiveApple Homekit compatibleMeross app easy to useCONS:Wakes up in last known state if power switch is turned offBulb could be brighterWish the âcolorâ and âtemperatureâ tabs were combined into one in the appsApple Home app is a bit sluggish when controlling the bulb (may be Homekit issue, not necessarily a Meross issue)

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!! Even brought down my whole network!!! Presumably old chipset.
Update 6/24[ Intro: Would give -1* if I could! Hands down the worst product I’ve ever bought on Amazon (and that’s a LOT). Sad to say since I had relatively positive experience with their smart plugs. Are all those 5* reviews fake or total smart home newbies?? I don’t understand how they can give this 4 or 5*, unless they’ve never seen any brand of smart color bulb before, the top reviews certainly read that way to me. FWIW, have double digits of smart speakers (both Googles and alexas) and over 50 smart devices in my home, last I counted, ranging from simple things like bulbs, plugs, and tv’s to security cameras, ac’s, major kitchen appliances, etc., and I have tried 4 different brands of smart bulbs so far, of which this was by far the worst. I’ve been a big dreamer/proponent/tester of cheap color smart bulbs, but after so long testing and reading about different bulbs, this is my last experiment with the cheap bulbs (see conclusion below for a summary).]The difficult setup was the first problem (see original review). Next it was relatively dim. Third was the occasional (around once per hour) random flicker off and on. I could live with those, maaaybe. Then it took down the 2.4GHz band on my $200 TPLink router! You don’t believe me? I didn’t either, for the first couple months. All I observed was that I installed these on Wednesday, and Friday morning, I couldn’t access most of the devices on my network (all the light bulbs and plugs). After carefully assessing each device, I realized it was the 2.4GHz band that had died (or otherwise become dysfunctional). The first time in almost 2 years with this otherwise perfect combination of router and smart home devices. I didn’t think at the time it had to do with these bulbs — it was a day apart, and how bad can a bulb be to take down a router? Surly a coincidence. It must be the 2.4GHz antenna of my router dying, or something like that.Fast forward two weeks. Did a LOT of debugging on the router (rebooting, moving the router, changing antenna positioning, turning features like smart connect or airtime fairness on and off, using different combinations of the three bands, checking for firmware updates, changing frequency channels, changing channel widths, changing encryption standards, changing passwords, reconnecting devices, factory resetting, trying my old router as access point, trying my old router as main and newer router as AP, buying a backup router albeit cheaper and trying both combinations, all combinations of the above changes, etc etc.). Nothing worked. So I called TPLink, they had me do more tests, and ultimately they, too, were convinced their router was broken. So they sent me a new router, since mine was still under warranty.Fast forward two more weeks (bc TPLink service is extremely slow). Received and installed the new router Saturday, everything’s working, yay! Monday morning, the 2.4GHz band dies again. What?? What a coincidence it died just over 24 hours later just like the first time I installed Meross bulbs. What are the chances two TPLink routers die in exactly the same way, in exactly the same timeframe? So this time I got suspicious. Removed the bulbs. And guess what? Everything works again. Two days and I am still good, for once. It’s clear now the Meross bulbs were the problem, and I’ve returned them. (BTW, I also got no response from their customer service when I complained.) Despite my MS in computer science, I’m not entirely sure of the exact scientific cause (networking is notoriously hard to debug, and I wasn’t going to waste further time trying). My best guess, assuming many others don’t have this problem, is that there is an old wifi chip used, which is not compatible with some of the newer technologies on my fancier router. Some combination of the smart connect and airtime fairness, or perhaps the beam forming, probably made my router communicate exclusively with these bulbs (a danger with airtime fairness), so that my other 2.4 devices never got a chance to communicate with the router. That said, I wasn’t able to make this work consistently even turning airtime fairness off, so I think the problem is bigger than this explanation; as I said, I don’t know the full real answer.(Yes TPLink is likely partially to blame for it, but well over 50 other wireless devices from quite a variety of manufacturers had no problems with it for almost 2 years.)My recommendation? I’ve tried one more expensive brand, which is fine but more expensive to the point I don’t think it’s worth it, especially as their variety is too restricted. I’ve tried two comparably priced brands. While much better in the sense that they didn’t bring down my entire network (!), they have their own problems. One is way too dim, and the other (my “main” brand so far) works well at first, but after a couple years I’ve discovered that they die at the rate of approximately 20%/year. At that rate, you may as well buy a more expensive brand and have it last 10 years. I did extensive AMZN research for other well-rated cheap bulbs, but if you do careful research you’ll see the other leaders (Teckin, AL Above) are also packed with fake reviews (offering free bulb for 5* etc.), and that they also die at a fast rate. This is why I’ve given up on my dream of discount color smart bulbs, and although my home is currently completely outfit with them, I know they will die one by one over the coming couple of years. And money aside, they are a pain to replace since you have to reset it up with the right name, and across your smart speakers, etc. So our only choice is to go up the price chain. For me, I’ve bought some WiZ bulbs to replace these, they arrive today and I’m excited to test them out! Should be much better. If these still fail, the next choices are then Sengled (~$21), then Kasa (~$25), and then we are in big trouble if we have to move to LIFX ($35) or Hue ($45). Replacing the ~40 bulbs at that price will not be worth it, at that point!!Onward.—–Original review:Inconsistent setupSo far I’m slightly disappointed. Installed two bulbs, but one cannot be seen by my Google homes. This is despite having other Meross products already, and many many bulbs. I’ve tried many things, and can’t find a way to let Google see it, although the Meross app does see it. The bulbs are also not quite as bright as the old ones I was replacing.

The seller refunded me for my bad experience.
The seller reached out and refunded me even though they didnât have to. Because of their goodwill I am giving them another chance and reordering.(Original) 2 out of the four bulbs do not work anymore after only a month.

Wow! As someone who has bought-in to the entire Apple infrastructure, I gotta say⦠These are the very best smart bulbs to integrate seamlessly into that structure. And I have to admit, they are even better than those original smart bulbs by PH which first aligned with Apple.Unfortunately, I had fallen hard for those PH bulbs a few years back. They were not only hyper-expensive and very complicated to set up, but almost immediately I started having issues with that brand. Fully half of those PH bulbs I had bought no longer function properly at all now â constantly dropping out, flashing on and off randomly, flickering and refusing to remain off when powered off. And no amount of troubleshooting (Iâm a techie) has corrected those issues. I will never return to the PH universe ever again â not now after discovering Meross products. The thing I truly appreciate the most with these Meross HomeKit enabled bulbs, aside from their amazingly low price compared to PH and their incredible friendliness with Apple, is the fact that their app is so intuitively simple, uncluttered and uncomplicated â yet very highly reliable and effective â pretty much mimicking Appleâs philosophy with that whole âKISSâ acronym⦠Keep It Simple Stupidâ.They have, indeed, kept it simple, by pure virtue of⦠1) the extremely easy setup of any of their devices. Iâm using over a dozen plugs and now multiple bulbs as well⦠2) all of their devices are about as close to âplug-and-playâ as it can get without actually being plug-and-play (at least not yet anyways)⦠3) absolutely incredible connectivity strength and dependability with instantaneous responsiveness, but make sure youâre using only a 2.4g connection⦠4) itâs total integration with both Apple HomeKit/Siri and Amazon Echo/Alexa (I use both throughout the house) is truly remarkable, so I can only assume Google and other integrations might be the same⦠5) their discoverability and intercommunicative ability with so many other smart home apps, like Eve, for example, when using ifTTT automation correlating with home atmospheric conditions. In short, these bulbs are just outstanding. One thing I will leave you with, though, is this⦠Contrary to what Meross states in their userâs instructions, DO NOT set them up in the HomeKit app first. That process is actually quite buggy. Set them up in the Meross app first AND do a firmware update. Itâs a far easier and much more do-able process. Then once thatâs done, your HomeKit, once launched, will already populate itself with them automatically. But thatâs just for their initial set up. All other settings and tweaks can be done easily with HomeKit after that.

Easy to configure with homekit. good illumination levels
