Perfect release of a quality product
I have really enjoyed this even though I had to reload the firmware!! I played Final Fantasy V and picked the quick save option which caused a loop and when I recopied firmware and Only used the regular limited save , it worked like a dream. I have played Spiderman mysterious menace and gbc games like Indiana Jones infernal machine. This thing really does a awesome job!

Do not buy!
I thought this product had been patched with the 1.2 patch, but this piece of crap freezes, glitches everytime I try to save a game, takes forever to load a game…..how do you release a product so broken? This console does not save your games

Wish it saved games
I can get all my games except for some reproductions to play. It’s compact size makes it great for playing ges without using a bulkier system. Graphics for most games are suprisingly good for their age. Would’ve given it five stars if it saved games. Maybe on the next software upgrade.

Cumple.
Al final lo que ejecuta los juegos es el retroarch, por el precio es posible adquirir un emulador de consolas más amplio.

Totally Rad
Plays old Gameboy games with the HDMI.

Doesn’t work
After unboxing and plugging it in, none of my four gameboy advance games worked on this console, it was just stuck on a white screen for over 20 min. Don’t waste your money.

Good but needs work
Overall, the build quality of the device is great. I like how everything looks and what comes in the box. For it example it comes with a USB C cable. The controller it came with has a long cable and comfortable. The build quality it seems great. My device came with the latest firmware. Sadly, it tends to load everything slowly. That is not ideal at all. This far I have been able to get the GB/GBA controller restart to work.GBA games take longer than GB/GBC games. It does not seem to load clone/knock off games at all.One of my GBA Pokémon games had a load error when I tried on the device. I am not sure if this common. The video quality is great and so is the sound.

As a retro collector I’ve been searching for a “Reliable” way to do GB stuff on the big screen. After having tried my full library on the SQ (around 50 GB games), Im sad to realize my search is far from over. This retron SQ seems to be A BARELY acceptable way to do this. With some……seriously big issues. Overall, I don’t think it’s worth the $130 I paid for this at all.Just a note….I’ve owned 4 different hyperkin consoles and 3 of them stopped working within 6 months of purchase. With a 75% console fail rate, I expected this console, although playable, will also fail much sooner rather than later.- The SQ is quite tiny. Much smaller than expected. Still very lovely to look at, and the controller does feel great.I’m personally using a HDMI to AV deacaler, for my Sony Trinitron for my retro stuff. Deapite some graphical strangeness, it looks pretty great. Mind blowing seeing these tiny tiny graphics blown up on a CRT screen.-Buckle up for what is essentially a loading screen simulator. Some only take a moment…..some take A FEW MINUTES to boot. And a few have not booted at all. My games are clean, and well taken care of. But this little guy just doesn’t want to play some games. Some were OG Gameboy, some were GBA. But it’s difficult to tell when a game is loading v.s when a game has frozen sometimes. I have many game to choose from, but it seems like a 70/30 do/don’t work. Fairly disappointed by the “Plays Most Games” advertising hook. Not true at all. There’s no in-game system menu. That drives me insane. You cannot access save states, load a game, change display options, etc with the provided controller. after research, you MUST plug in your own keyboard, and press ‘F1’ to access. This blows my mind on so many levels, as most other hyperkin systems have this feature with a shortcut button press……so I guess they just skipped it here. ð¤Some games didn’t have my save file included So I’d be starting from scratch….where other games like on Pokemon yellow, blue, and silver, has my save file ready to go no problem. The included memory card is ~500mb. I’m not sure if this will be satisfactory space for the system info and all of my games. I have not plugged it into my laptop yet.Lastly, my console I received had a sticker with “updated firmware 1.2 version”. Their most recent version is 1.3, so regardless I still need to update it, making this a “very fuss” system. This is not a plug-and-play system like it’s made to seem. It needs a lot of care and support and babying to make work, and it’s not even guaranteed it will play your games.I’m very confused about this SQ. I had a retron console that had 5 or 6 slots, one of them was a GBA slot. It played almost all my GB games with no issues, and even had the in game menu making getting through my hardest games quite possible. The SQ is a very pretty, hardly functional system. But so far, is STILL my only optionPro tip – decsale with HDMI to av, and use on your CRT. It’s mandatory when compared beside a modern day tv.
