Good quality!
Iâve been using this to make my own âjelloâ after taking a good look at the ingredients on the box. It also dissolves quite differently than the box mix. No more boiling water and the constant stirring to get it to dissolve so this also saves you time!

Like night and day from the grocery store brand!!!!
I began taking gelatin about 10 days ago in order to heal my gut. I had been having major digestive issues for about 3 months, so I went online to do some research and found a site that outlined a diet which consisted of consuming gelatin with every meal. There was no explanation as to why, so I did further research and discovered that gelatin is great for healing the gut! Not only did it aid in digestion, but another exciting fact was that gelatin heals “leaky gut syndrome,” which causes various food intolerances. I have had intolerance to many common foods…especially eggs, which I love.As I continued my research, I saw that Great Lakes was recommended over the grocery store brands for its high quality of being hormone and antibiotic-free. I could not find any locally, so in desperation of needing relief from my stomach troubles, I decided to get some immediately…I did not care what brand, until I could get my order placed on Amazon. So, I began Knox gelatin last Thursday evening. I made some grape juice jello and I felt immediate relief in my stomach after eating it. Very soothing. So, I continued for the next few days. I noticed that I felt tired every time after eating it. I did sleep better. By Sunday, I saw that the skin on my face was looking scaly. The cysts in my breasts were becoming tender again…which, BTW, is a sign that I have ingested estrogen! Hormones!! Not good!!!I had placed my order on Amazon on Saturday, after deciding which form to buy. I decided to order one of each, the green and the orange…both bovine…to see which one I would like to take. I naturally love jello…so making jello was the fun and natural thing for me to do!My order arrived on Monday!!! Wow!! Very fast!! So, I immediately flushed all of the remaining Knox jello down the drain and started on the Great Lakes! I made some jello and also used the green can in my smoothies…the collagen hydrolysate. I ate less jello due to using the green can as well. Tuesday, I woke up feeling like my muscles had been pumped up ever so slightly….it’s hard to explain, but I felt like I had a protective barrier over the surface of my body…and I felt refreshed! Yes…I am VERY senstive to my body! I slept very well and I did not feel tired upon awakening, like I did on the Knox brand. Day 2…Wednesday….I woke up with a groggy headache, although I still had that body protected sensation. Day 3 again, a headache. I rarely ever get headaches.I would say that I took less than the 2 TBSP per day. I don’t know if I took too much for me…I am only 100 lbs. and was detoxing too quickly….thus the headache, or it does not agree with me. So, for now, I have stopped taking the green can and am enjoying just the jello…Love it, with grape juice and black cherry juice concentrate. I feel stronger already. I noticed today, that the skin on my face looks slightly more glowy and dewey….hmmm….very fast results!AND BTW….the breast tenderness went away after a couple of days of taking the GL brand. So, in addressing this person, who goes by “it’s” I cannot believe that GL has hormones and antibiotics in it because my breasts are a great barometer in this regard. We eat mostly organic foods and we eat no meat with any hormones or antibiotics so my body has stayed clean in this vein for many years, so I can tell when my hormones are disturbed. So, I feel quite confident of this product and feel very good about using it. I do smell an odor when I pour the hot water to mix. It is not very pleasant…kind of like animal hide…but once it is mixed and congeals, I do not taste what I smelled. I tried mixing the green can with water one night and it had that same smell and taste to it, which I found unbearable…but I have been tested to be a super-taster (meaning I have high sense of taste). So, when I did take it, I put it in my smoothies and I could not taste it at all. I really loved cutting cubes of the jello and mixing it in my smoothies…soooo yummy!!! A real dessert-like treat!!!My husband does not like jello, so he is using the green can daily in his tea. He, who has been prone to frequent headaches…very severe at times, has had no problems with the green can…so, go figure!Too early to tell about joint issues, etc., but I highly recommend this brand over any other. I will report back when more time has passed to give more results. I can’t wait to be able to eat more foods from my gut being healed!!Update: 4/12/14So, I have been taking gelatin for 2.5 weeks now. I can’t believe the changes!!! My facial skin is plumper, so i look younger! My hair has body so it’s fluffier, so that I don’t have to wash it as often as before when it went flat the next day after a shampoo. My skin feels sooooooooo soft!! And I do feel stronger! Previously, I was not able to do push-ups on my palms…had to do them with my fists. I just happened to try one, and my wrists felt stronger!!! No pain when doing them! I actually did not have much joint pain to speak of, so I guess I don’t notice any changes in that department. But, I surely to recommend this product, as it is certainly youthifying!!!I can’t wait to see how I look and feel a month down the road, or even a year from now!!! My youth is certainly being renewed like the eagle’s!! I must add, that I have been eating more brothy foods as well, since discovering that we need to be eating the whole animal for best nutritional balance, so it could also be adding to the mix, but on days when we just don’t feel like soups…we can feel confident that we are getting what we need by eating gelatin in the form of jello with all our meals!

Great for carnivore recipes
^^ as I said great for carnivore recipes, I use it to make carnivore bread and I love the basic pure ingredient list. Off to look up more things to use this with.

Good gelatin if you want it soft like tofu
I was struggling trying to make my melo melo coconut jello. Saw a YouTube video and it says you have to use this gelatin. The regular gelatin is too firm and not watery enough so the texture text really bad. This one works if you want to make melo melo coconut jelly. Large size and can make many batches. Cheaper than buying melo melo at the store

Seeing some results within a few minutes!!!
I’m giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 because I need to get used to the ‘taste’ and how it slightly changes the texture of the drink (tea or hot cocoa) I put it in…I would give it 5 stars for performance because I was relieved of hip and ‘seat’ pain within minutes of drinking my first serving!!I am pregnant (just around 13-14 weeks) with my 3rd. My first 2 pregnancies were very close and my back muscles (which weren’t very strong to begin with) took a serious beating with carrying baby #2 while taking care of baby #1 (having to carry him around until he could walk, carrying him asleep in his car seat, working and going to school, way too busy, now that I look back on how I lived during that 2nd pregnancy). After baby #2 was born, it took me a very very very long time to heal. And even when she turned 3, I would occasionally feel pain in my ‘seat’ and I just knew it was my body still mending from the ordeal of close pregnancies. To make matters ‘worse’, I have an umbilical hernia that I didn’t know was what I had, and my stomach muscles never completely closed after baby #2 was born. Fast forward 6 years later and I am unexpectedly expecting, and by the end of my 10th week, I could already feel strains on my back and my hips. Normal stuff under normal pregnancy circumstances, but I was dreading the days ahead, knowing how weak my muscles are and how vulnerable my belly muscles also are with the hernia…I had never heard of gelatin (crazy, I know) in a ‘supplement’ form. I was having a very rough first trimester when a very good friend of mine who’s extremely dedicated to healthy eating and lifestyle emailed me and said she had been looking into gelatin, and thought of me, and then she shared this link through Amazon. I proceeded to read about gelatin, then checked the reviews on here, and decided last week I had nothing to lose: my hips were bothering me, I walked with a limp, and my back was already killing me too. My ‘bump’ is already big (people expect me to say I’m 20 weeks along, not just 12), and I think it’s because of the hernia that had prevented my stomach muscles to go back together completely. I couldn’t wait for the gelatin to arrive yesterday and as soon as UPS rang my bell, I tore open the box, and tried what Catuk said in her review, to mix properly. Unfortunately, that didn’t work for me as it became grainy and clumpy, and when I put my hot tea in, it clumped and looked really gross. I am already having a hard time with foods and smells because of the pregnancy, and looking at what was in my cup, I quickly closed my eyes and dumped everything into the sink. I don’t know how I thought to skip the tap water and start with my heated up hot water first, then steep my tea separately and finally, dump the infused tea (chamomille) into the gelatin. That worked much better! So I first put 1 tablespoon of gelatin in a cup, poured just enough hot water from my tea kettle to cover it, mixed vigorously with a spoon until it was mixed with no clumps. Then I brewed my tea and when the tea was ready, I dumped the tea in the liquified gelatin, mixed some more, and drank quickly before it cooled down (as I was not about to find out what will happen if the tea cooled). I later on tried with hot chocolate, but I did not like the slimy-ish texture of the hot cocoa once it was mixed in. I don’t know why the tea didn’t get slimy-ish but the cocoa did. I had it today with green tea and it was even better than the chamomille. So, here’s the GOOD news for me (sorry you had to go through the technicalities before hand): less than 30 minutes after I had the gelatin-hot chocolate (that’s actually what I made first, and then I decided to try it in tea to see if it will look better, which it did for me), my hip hurt much much less and I was not limping around the house anymore! I could still feel it, but it was 90% better!!! UPS came after 7:30 pm. By 8pm, I had the first ‘dose’ and I was almost painless before 8:20!! It says on the box to take 2 tablespoons a day, one in the morning and one at night (something like that). Well, before I went to bed (around 10 pm), I decided to have my second tablespoon (and that’s when I brewed chamomille tea instead)! I slept well for the first time since around 6 weeks pregnant! I need to get a body pillow, and was buying time by just using my regular pillows in the house. Still, my hips will ache throughout the night, my back will get sore because it’s not well supported, and I because I haven’t been able to eat well, I would wake up very hungry in the middle of the night, try to get apple sauce or yogurt down and then, I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep. Last night for the first time in at least 2 months, I went to sleep, woke up twice to use the bathroom, but went right back to sleep, and the icing on the cake: MY HIP WAS COMPLETELY PAIN FREE! I pressed on it, I pressed on various parts of my bottom that would normally hurt if I did that but nothing, no pain!!! I slept till 8 (yay for winter break!) this morning and woke up STILL pain free!!! So I tried the gelatin in some yogurt (I was very hungry and didn’t feel up to trying gelatin-cocoa or tea on an empty finicky pregnant stomach) and managed to eat 2/3 of it but I did not care at all for how it made the yogurt gelatin like (and it clumped some so it was not great at all). I didn’t want to waste my cup of yogurt so I made myself eat most of it, waited 30 minutes or so and had some gelatin-cocoa (for calories and while I figured out what food sounded OK, as I have had a rough time eating). I was able to clean my 3 bedroom house, clean the bathroom, and do some laundry, all of these activities pain free!!! At around 4 pm, I took another tablespoon (in the green tea this time, and that’s my favorite out the 3 –hot cocoa, chamomile tea and green tea) just because :-). And at 9:30, I took another tablespoon in chamomile tea before settling down to write this review and then go to bed. 🙂 I wondered if it’s OK to take 3 tablespoons like I’ve done, and I might just stick to 2 a day like the box suggests…What I am praying for: that this will heal my body as it changes to accommodate my pregnancy. That my hips and other joints, spine, ankles, knees will be in tip top shape as I take this throughout the pregnancy. That it will strengthen my muscles (does it do things for muscles??), especially my back and core stomach muscles, so that I will not strain them as baby grows, and that those parts actually heal stronger than ever after baby comes sometime in late spring!Another incredible thing that happened was that I get what I think are varicose veins on the back of my thighs and they can get painful! Well, when I got home from work yesterday, I had a couple that popped on the back of my right thigh. By the time I was going to bed, they were almost gone, and I had to feel my skin with my bare hand to feel them! Normally, I KNOW they are there, and I can feel their bulge through my leggins! Today, they were still gone, but by evening time, I could feel them aching a bit. I still had to feel my skin to find them (at their usual place) but they were not as bulgy as usual, and I wonder if getting tired (I was physically busier today around the house than I have been able to be in two months, I was just so out of it) caused them to appear. Not medical at all, I know, and I will get them checked at my next visit to confirm whatever it is they are. But I am hoping that’s something else the gelatin is taking care of for me!!!Thanks for reading, hope this helps someone and gives someone hope for things they’re hoping will heal or improve if they take gelatin. I’ll try to come back and update as time goes on and I have more results!

Beef Gelatin Powder
This gelatin powder worked very well in the recipes that I’ve used it in. No problem with taste, either.

OverviewI started using this as a zero carb option for thickening sauces and gravies.I also use for this as a dietary suppliant. I dissolve it in broth as a mid day snack, and find it has helped with controlling my heartburn. The price to value ratio is really good on this compared to the smaller containers or envelopes you see in the grocery stores.I does have a slight odor…but no detectable taste. The shelf life is great…never had an issue using a container before it was even close to the best before. Pros-tasteless-zero carb option for thickening recipes-Great Value-Long Shelf LifeCons-noneRecommendation â Would buy it again and would highly recommend<---Click below if you found this review helpful--->

I’m not sure why everyone else says they can’t smell or taste it… It has a kind of funk to it, for me. The kind of funk that makes me think of bovine skin extract. Oh wait… isn’t that what this is? Hehehehe. :)We’ve seen a lot of the improvements mentioned by other commenters here, so I’ll just pass on a handy tip instead of reiterating the preceding claims and anecdotes.Do you hate soaking gelatin every time you want to make a cup of tea? Yeah, I hate that too… Such a pain. And mess. I was the dork that used two cups, one for soaking and one for steeping, then poured one into the other when both were ready. Don’t laugh, it was my way of coping! Here’s how to fix it: Mix some gelatin into water (I use three tablespoons of gelatin in about a cup of water), pour it into a container, and stick it in the fridge. After a wee bit, it turns into a funny looking gummy. Slice the gummy! I run my knife through it a couple dozen times while it’s still in the container. It doesn’t have to be pretty. Now every time you make tea, go into the fridge and pick out a couple slices and drop them in your mug while the steeping is going on. They dissolve within seconds, I kid you not. And because it’s only a couple slices, I can’t taste or smell or, or feel it (does anyone else find it’s sticky when there’s a lot of it? eeeurgh…). Since I make tea a few times a day, I can easily get enough gelatin to make a small herd of cows nervous.Does this make sense? I hope it makes sense. It’s changed my life! Family members are starting to use gelatin because it’s so easy now! Fewer dishes, less time spent measuring out gelatin, spilling gelatin, getting sticky countertops – win all around. And nopers, you don’t have to use hot water to make your funny giant gummy. Use cold water. Mix it in the same dish it’s going to be stored in. Hell, I do, and we’re all alive and doing fine with this modicum less of stress in our lives. ;DFunny gummy!! 😀 😀

This is the third time I’ve ordered this product on Amazon. Grass-fed, pasture raised, so it’s not the least expensive product but it’s a good product and good to know where your food is coming from, so for me it’s worth the price. Unflavored, as advertised, although it does add a light sweetness if you use enough. I use it in jelly’s, puddings, sauces and it works well in all cases per the directions on the can.
