FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR DR. JASON FUNG • “The doctor who invented intermittent fasting.” —The Daily Mail
“Dr. Fung reveals how [type 2 diabetes] can be prevented and also reversed using natural dietary methods instead of medications … This is an important and timely book. Highly recommended.” —Dr. Mark Hyman, author of The Pegan Diet
“Dr. Jason Fung has done it again. … Get this book!” —Dr. Steven R. Gundry, author of The Plant Paradox
Everything you believe about treating type 2 diabetes is wrong. Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease—a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this groundbreaking book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible.
Writing with clear, persuasive language, Dr. Fung explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting—not medication.
“The Diabetes Code is unabashedly provocative yet practical … a clear blueprint for everyone to take control of their blood sugar, their health, and their lives.”—Dr. Will Cole, author of Intuitive Fasting

Great read!
Intriguing from start to finish! It was nice to finally find out how to completely reverse Type 2 Diabetes for goodâ¦Not only is this book worth reading it serves as a great reference to continue learning about how the ADA and others have misled the public for decades. Thanks for sharing Dr. Fung! I am especially grateful for your continued support and hard work to ensure the truth can be fully disclosed to everyone who will listen to it, embrace it, and accept it.

Wonderful, inspiring book
The book is an easy read, and makes so much sense. The best part is that it gives lots of hope and inspiration to overcome a disease that was considered unstoppable and incurable! In 2023, my A1C was a little elevated — right on the cusp of normal and pre-diabetes. My Doctor recommended I read this book and I wish I had done so at that time! However, I did lower my carb intake during the summer and fall, and two A1C tests 3 months apart showed an A1C n the normal range. The holidays came and life got busy, and I slipped back into my normal eating habits. This year when my A1C was tested — it was squarely in the middle of “pre diabetes”. Talk about motivation! But this time I have read the book! In addition to a very low carb diet, I have begun a daily fasting regimen 0f 16 to 19 hours — and already feel better, although I won’t get my blood tested again until next month. In the future, I am considering a 24 hour fast 2-3 times per week.

The introduction pretty much covers it all
The information in the book is good, but the introduction pretty much said it all. Fast Like a Girl is a better choice for me. Follow both authors, Jason Fung and Mindy Pelz on YouTube. The 2 of them are full of information for your healing journey.

Lots of information here.
This is the third book I have bought written by Dr. Fung. Full of information. I also follow him on YouTube. One could look if interested in buying his book. I don’t buy as many books as I did when I was young, but I will for this man.

Get healthy
This diabetes code book is not just for diabetics. My husband 65 yrs, was diagnosed with type two diabetes, which is a nice way to say you are overweight. The food and medical industry does not clearly or does not want to clearly know what makes people fat. This book is an easy read describes how the body works, and how all the food groups work to help our bodies perform properly ,if you are truly wanting to make a change in your life. This book is fantastic! We the people have been fooled for a long time ! Do yourself a favor order this book! I will now be Purchasing the diabetic code cookbookð!

Sugar So Toxic
10-week Update: In total, I lost 15-lbs. in 10-weeks with a 30-hr. fasting regiment. Iâve read women have a harder time with intermittent fasting (IF) b/c our bodies are built for childbearing. So when we fast for long periods of time, our bodies go into starvation mode and the weight wonât come off (at least it didnât for me). My A1C result was 9.5 so Iâm back on insulin but will try the 16-hr. fasting to see if that makes the difference in weight loss (stop eating at 8pm and next meal would be noon). To add to the lack of weight loss, I went onto the Keto diet and didnât get the right ratio of fat-protein-carbs (75/20/5). For those wanting to do Keto, please make sure to drink 10-12 glasses of water or youâll suffer MAJOR constipation and/or daily leg cramps. You’ll need to add electrolytes in your water as well – my favorite powder mix is Hydra Surge (dissolves easily and fruit punch taste). For my chocolate cravings, I have a few teaspoonful of Lilyâs sugarless chocolate chips (sold at Sprouts, Mollie Stoneâs in the baking section). The sugar substitute Erythritol gives a burning sensation on the throat upon eating so stick with liquid Stevia. Cauliflower pizza is a favorite staple for Keto dieters.Original July 20, 2018 Review: I was pre-diabetic in Oct’03. Fast forward to Jun’12, I became insulin-dependent mostly due to work stress. Still, up until last weekend when I read the book, I didn’t paid attention to my diet and my office job is sedentary. I’ve never quite understood what it meant to be diabetic and continued my desserts (even bringing in desserts to work – sorry about that). Dr. Fung is the 1st to teach me that sugar is a toxin without nutritional value (great for the taste buds though), and that it damages the whole body (internal and external) and weakens cell development. If I’m getting older, regeneration is compromised and there’s no medication or procedure to fix diabetic nerve damage. Why aren’t doctors explaining diabetes to their patients in plain English? Dr. Fung does all of this and I read the book in one day. I first started with Metformin, then adding Glyburide, and finally insulin in Jun’12. My diabetes wasn’t managed well and the insulin dosage continued to increase. I was gaining weight despite eating half at every meal mostly Atkins (but still desserts). Dr. Fung’s explanation of insulin forcing the excess glucose into the liver made sense and I started fasting the very next day. I want to restore my liver and rid of the high triglycerides (Slo-Niacin is helping to lower) from the excess glucose.Dr. Fung states that diabetic patients have common cancers as well – I became another statistic in Aug’17 when I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer (Stage 1A) and had a full hysterectomy. Then he mentioned how closely related diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease are, so strong that it could be called âType 3â Diabetes. I don’t want to be another statistic for Alzheimer’s. Other afflictions include skin tags, infertility, dementia, blindness, kidney failure, liver scarring, heart disease, loss of pain sensation and even hair loss. Sugar is horrible for the skin as well (poor circulation and cell regeneration).Dr. Fung pointed out, food for thought (literally), when he states treatment for both Diabetes types 1 and 2 is insulin. How can that be treatment for both diseases at both ends of the spectrum? Diabetes is a growing epidemic b/c the food channels are glorifying sugar-laden cakes and desserts, the cupcake craze, gourmet pizzas, and eating contests/binges. Thereâs tempting food everywhere. It’s over-indulgence at every turn and we’re doomed if we don’t stop and think what we’re shoving into our mouths. THINK QUALITY INSTEAD OF QUANTITY. I heard on the news recently that 63% of young Americans men have liver disease mostly caused by drinking as well. Poor overworked liver and kidneys.I admit I’m a sugar addict and while I hate to give up my desserts, I MUST IF I WANT TO LIVE LONGER AND HEALTHIER. Once I reach optimum ketosis and my organs start to function as it should be doing, I can afford a few sweet bites occasionally. Thank you Dr. Fung for teaching me all the right stuff. The menu planner has inspired me to re-examine my diet and going back to Atkins and the Keto diet. I told my doctor what I was doing but didnât tell him I was off my diabetes meds (Metformin and Insulin). So far, my glucose readings are high even after fasting but how can that be when Iâm not eating. Does this mean my extra glucose is coming out and working for me? Havenât been tired and still lots of energy. I took that chance but if youâre worried about stopping your meds, please check with your doctor. Iâm testing AM and PM to make sure Iâm okay.Read this book but more importantly, give your fatty liver a chance to recoup and function normally again. Get the excess glucose out of your liver, burn your fat and restore your health. BTW, when I’m fasting for 36-hours, I will stop eating at 7:30pm and have breakfast on the 3rd day. Youâll be sleeping at least 10-hrs. of that cycle and miss one full day of eating. On fasting days, it’s mostly liquid (tea, hot broth and water). If Iâm really hungry, Iâll have Almased once a day but no solids whatsoever. I’ve lost 3-4 pounds a week so far and not hungry or tired. If you are dizzy, prick your fingers to make sure you havenât dipped below 60 and/or have some broth for the sodium. On non-fasting days, stick with fresh foods, low-carbs and unprocessed foods. I try to weigh myself on the mornings of fasting days (after eating days) for better results b/c of homeostasis during fasting days when my body is holding back in starvation mode. This means I get to fast 3X days a week (MWF) BUT still eat 4 days a week (TuThSaSu) Keto style. I havenât been tempted to eat sweets at all (so far). I’m using Emergen-C electrolye replenisher to quash thirst (powder packet into 16-oz. water) and hot water to help with constipation. Good luck!

This book is amazing. I have insulin resistance/pre diabetic. I read this book and it was a real eye opener. I got my A1C from 7.9 to 5.8 in 3 months. (without the fasting)The way that it explains what insulin resistance is and why our bodies act the way the do, why our diet is the main factor in this epidemic we call diabetes. If you have type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, or just want to be healthier you need to read this book. If you only use this information to change how you think about food and your body and don’t do the fasting I promise you will be amazed.
