Grateful for a corn-free and potato-starch free baking powder!
We have been on a gluten free diet for a long time, but are now also grain-free and potato-free. I was thrilled to find this baking powder that fits our new dietary needs. I have baked with it and found no difference in results between it and the previous brands I had used that contain corn starch or potato starch. The only drawback is that it is more expensive than the other brands. Hopefully, as the business grows, the cost can come down? That being said, I am truly thankful to Ottos for making this product and will continue to buy it.

Wish I would have seen…
The back of the package that says, “Use within 6 months of opening”. A lot of the package will go to waste. Most recipes call for small amounts. I would have to do a whole lot of baking to use the entire package within 6 months. So no, I don’t think it’s a good value for the money. If I could buy it in 2 or 3 ounces…then yes. It’s nice that they put a place on there for me to write down when to throw it away though. I give it pretty high marks for quality. It does contain cassava starch, which I’m not supposed to consume because of having hypothyroidism. But that’s not the company’s fault. It’s aluminum free, and grain free, vegan, and Kosher. You really can’t get purer than that. Oh, and it is non-GMO! So, all in all, this is a great product. I just have to try to find one that doesn’t contain cassava or millet.

For health reasons, I am having to temporarily eat a (mostly) gluten free & corn free diet. I noticed that when I made baked goods with a GF flour blend that my tummy would hurt. I would go thru all the ingredients and couldnât figure out what could be causing this. It really got ugly when I made GF baking powder naan â¦there was so much baking powder in the recipe and then my tummy ached terribly. I finally thought it had to be the baking powderâ and it was!!! Good lord who would have thought?!?! Iâm THRILLED to have found this âcleanerâ baking powder! And Iâve made numerous baked goods and no tummy trouble! YAYYY!
