GoPro HERO13 Black: Solid Upgrade for Slo-Mo and Autoboost, but Not a Game-Changerâ
As someone who mainly uses a GoPro for real estate videos, I was curious to see how the HERO13 Black stacks up compared to my HERO11. The short version? Itâs an incremental upgrade with some nice-to-have features but nothing groundbreaking if youâre coming from a recent model.Whatâs New: ⢠5.3K60 Video & 27MP Photos: The resolution is stunning, but if youâve used the HERO11, the difference isnât huge. The video quality is slightly crisper, and the slow-mo feature is WAY coolerâdefinitely a win if you love cinematic action shots. ⢠Autoboost Feature: This is essentially GoProâs REELSTEADY software built into the camera. Itâs a lifesaver for real estate footage, saving tons of time in post-production. The stabilization is smooth and seamless. ⢠Touch Screen Responsiveness: A subtle but appreciated improvementâthe screen is snappier and feels more reliable during operation. ⢠Lens Add-Ons: The ability to add new lenses is intriguing, but for my use case, Iâm not sure how often Iâll take advantage of it.What Feels the Same: ⢠If youâve used the HERO11, the general experience will feel very familiar. Itâs not a revolutionary leap forward but more of a refinement of what GoPro already does well.Overall Thoughts:If youâre upgrading from something like a HERO9 or older, the HERO13 Black will feel like a massive step up. But coming from the HERO11, itâs more of a luxury than a necessity. The slo-mo and Autoboost are standout features, but the other upgrades are pretty minor for my specific needs.Would I recommend it? If youâre serious about getting the best slow-motion footage or want built-in REELSTEADY, absolutely. Otherwise, your HERO11 is still a powerhouse.Would love to hear how others are using the new lens add-onsâmaybe Iâm missing out!

Itâs built to last
Itâs worth the extra money to get an official action camera. Iâve bought some off brand and cheaper action cameras in the past and always run into issues. This camera last me a life time.

Go Pro Overheating
Go pro was on 70% battery life and within a hour was already dead. Go Pro got super hot that I had to put it in front of the Air Conditioner. Anyone else have this problem?

Awesome, love it. Tons of YouTube videos to watch about the hero 13 if youâre considering it.

Few little complaints but works great
Been a long time since I got a GoPro and it’s surprising how quick the battery still seems to drain, even with this “new” battery with more capacity. They REALLY need to improve their efficiency with the next one to at least match the competitor’s battery life. You have to turn off EVERYTHING on this to get one battery to last at least an hour.Low light footage is garbage, even mildly lit footage is grainy. And this thing overheats pretty quick if you don’t have any airflow. Even in my testing with it in front of a fan it gets surprisingly hot to the touch even with the new heatsink in front. I don’t plan to use it in the dark so it’s pretty negligible to me but be warned that smartphones look way better in low light. But all in all it does great things in a small package. I haven’t run into any stability issues otherwise.Seriously GoPro, work on the efficiency. Heat and power usage needs a big upgrade for the next one.
