The tri-radio modules with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, Thread, and Matter support. See how they improve smart connectivity!
Murata Manufacturing Co. has launched the Type 2FR/2FP and Type 2KL/2LL modules. These tri-radio modules are designed to connect smart homes, buildings, and industrial IoT applications. They feature dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Thread with Matter provisioning.
As smart home and industrial IoT markets demand cost-effective solutions that ensure secure interconnectivity, the Type 2FR/2FP family provides an innovation. Key features include certified operation with external antenna support, rich peripheral interfaces, and low power consumption to ensure extended battery life.
Measuring 12.0mm x 11.0mm x 1.5mm, these modules are the smallest in the world to combine a 260 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 MCU with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and 802.15.4 OpenThread. They can function as co-processors or standalone devices capable of running all network stacks and user applications.
The 2FR/2FP modules are compatible with the Matter ecosystem, enabling unified connectivity. Built-in security meets SESIP3 and PSA3 standards, eliminating the need for a separate security IC and aligning with regulations like the EU Cyber Resilience Act. These features make it suitable for IoT applications such as smart homes, HVAC, smart energy, industrial automation, and healthcare devices.
The Type 2KL/2LL modules are designed for Linux or RTOS IoT systems. Powered by the NXP IW610 chipset, these modules support Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, Thread, and Matter provisioning. Key highlights include the ability to handle network stacks and applications with advanced security, certification for North American and Japanese markets, and optimization for cost-sensitive IoT systems that require Wi-Fi 6 capabilities.
These modules are designed for smart microsystems and provide performance, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The 2KL/2LL family suits IoT applications such as imaging devices, smart accessories, building automation, and industrial solutions.
