NXP’s new MCX L Series ushers in a low-power future, leveraging decades of design expertise and semiconductor technology. Built on a 40 nm Ultra Low Power (ULP) process, the MCX L introduces Adaptive Dynamic Voltage Control (ADVC), a proprietary technology enabling exceptional performance for energy-constrained applications powered by batteries, ultracapacitors, or energy harvesters.

The series features a dual-domain architecture combining an Arm® Cortex®-M33 real-time processing core with an Arm Cortex-M0+ always-on sense domain. This configuration supports real-time processing at up to 96 MHz with only 24 µA/MHz current consumption, while the sense domain operates at ultra-low power for continuous sensor data acquisition, consuming as little as 14 µA at 2 MHz.

Advanced Power Management

The ADVC technology dynamically adjusts the device’s operating voltage, minimizing power consumption by fine-tuning the core voltage close to the transistor threshold. By lowering the voltage from 0.9 V to 0.65 V, power consumption can be halved, significantly extending battery life. Developers can access these advanced features with minimal effort using an intuitive SDK API. Tailored Peripherals for Versatile Applications:

• MCX L25: Ideal for industrial process control and flow metering, featuring low-power I²C, UARTs, and advanced analog peripherals.
• MCX L14: Designed for deeply embedded applications, supporting smart temperature, pressure, and gas sensors with interfaces for industrial protocols like MODBUS.

The Series ensures robust security through features like secure bootloaders, cryptographic accelerators, and TrustZone isolation. It meets the latest cybersecurity standards, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act and US CTM regulations. The MCUXpresso Developer Experience includes SDKs, IDEs, and development boards, ensuring seamless integration and rapid prototyping. Support for FreeRTOS and Zephyr enhances flexibility for developers.
