Designed to enhance flagship audio systems, this advanced DAC chip captures the authentic “texture” of musical instruments while achieving spatial reverberation, quietness, and dynamic range.

ROHM introduces a 32-bit D/A converter IC (DAC chip), the BD34302EKV, along with an evaluation board, designed to elevate flagship models in its MUS-IC series. This new product delivers an unparalleled listening experience by emphasizing spatial reverberation, quietness, and dynamic range while preserving the authentic “texture” of musical instruments.
Building on the success of the first-generation MUS-IC BD34301EKV, known for its exceptional sound quality and adoption in premium audio systems, the BD34302EKV advances the company’s commitment to superior audio performance. The DAC chip integrates a new Data Weighted Averaging (DWA) algorithm, achieving a THD+N characteristic of -117dB (THD: -127dB) for precise sound reproduction with exceptional texture detail. Its signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 130dB ensures flagship-level noise performance. The chip supports sampling frequencies up to 1,536kHz, enabling customers to maximize their digital signal processors’ (DSPs) capabilities.

The key features are:
- SNR: 130 dB (Typ)
- THD+N: -115 dB (Typ) (PCM mode)
- Sampling Frequency: 32 kHz to 768 kHz (PCM mode)
- Digital FIR Filters: 2 types (PCM mode)
- DSD Support: 2.8 MHz, 5.6 MHz, 11.2 MHz, 22.4 MHz
- Channel Modes: Stereo (2ch) and Mono (1ch)
- Selectable Device Addresses: 38h, 3Ah, 3Ch, 3Eh
The company’s proprietary HD monaural mode assigns one DAC chip per channel, enhancing sound smoothness and naturalness. Crafted with uncompromising precision, each terminal’s bonding wire material is optimized to accurately transmit the natural “texture” of musical instruments, reflecting it’s extensive expertise in sound quality design.
The BD34302EKV, part of the series, embodies the dedication to “Quality First” and its mission to contribute to musical culture. This series represents the pinnacle of audio IC solutions, combining advanced sound quality technology with the craftsmanship of experienced engineers.
