As electric vehicles push the limits of performance, protecting critical systems from voltage spikes becomes more important. Find out more!

Littelfuse, Inc., a manufacturer of industrial technology solutions, has introduced the TPSMB-L Series Automotive TVS Diodes. These diodes are designed for Battery Management Systems (BMS) in 800 V electric vehicles (EVs), offering ultra-low clamping voltage (Vcl) to protect sensitive components like Analog Front End (AFE) and Battery Management ICs (BMICs).
As demand for high-performance EV components grows, the series provides reliable protection while meeting ISO-26262 functional safety standards for automotive systems. These diodes enhance safety and reliability in critical BMS applications. View the video.

The TVS diodes are designed for 800 V battery systems in electric and hybrid vehicles, ensuring reliable protection in high-voltage automotive applications. They enhance the safety and longevity of BMS, safeguarding AFEs and BMICs in 14- to 20-cell designs. Additionally, these diodes are well-suited for advanced EV architectures that require compliance with ISO-26262 functional safety standards.
A few key features of TPSMB-L Series Automotive TVS Diodes include:
- Ultra-Low Clamping Voltage (Vcl): Protects AFEs and BMICs from voltage spikes.
- Automotive-Grade Reliability: AEC-Q101 qualified and PPAP Level 3 compliant.
- High Power Handling: 600 W peak pulse power in a compact package.
- Wide Application Range: Works with 14- to 20-cell BMS in high-voltage EVs.
- Fast Response Time: Shields against ESD and voltage surges.
“With the growing complexity and power demands of electric vehicle systems, protecting critical electronics components like AFEs and Battery Management Systems ICs is more important than ever,” said Charlie Cai, Director of Product Management, Protection Business at Littelfuse. “By combining ultra-low clamping voltage with automotive-grade performance, the TPSMB-L Series empowers engineers to meet stringent functional safety standards like ISO-26262 while providing robust reliability.”
ISO-26262 compliance is essential for the safety of EV systems, which depend on advanced electronics for propulsion, energy storage, and control. The series diodes help automakers meet these safety requirements while improving system reliability and performance.
