Nuvoton unveils the NAU88L21CYG, a stereo audio codec engineered for real-time wireless streaming and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) applications. This ultra-low power, high-performance audio codec integrates advanced signal processing features that significantly reduce latency, ensuring seamless synchronization between audio and video streams in wireless devices.
It is powered by the company’s on-chip silicon signal processing design, featuring a Low Latency (LL) decimator for down-sampling and interpolation for up-sampling. These digital linear and non-linear filters enhance real-time streaming by minimizing transmission delays, making the codec ideal for wireless audio applications.

High-Performance Audio Architecture
Equipped with a robust set of features, the NAU88L21CYG supports both analog and digital audio functionalities. It includes an I²S/PCM interface, digital microphone interface, digital mixer, two high-quality DACs and ADCs, and a stereo class-G headphone amplifier. The on-chip signal processing engine offers a dynamic range compressor (DRC), programmable bi-quad filters, and an integrated frequency-locked loop (FLL) to accommodate various input clocks.

Traditional audio codecs often introduce high latency during transmission, causing synchronization issues in real-time applications. The NAU88L21CYG overcomes this challenge by reducing latency by one-sixth compared to conventional codecs, ensuring real-time performance for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-based wireless audio devices. This enhancement significantly improves user experience in applications requiring precise audio-video synchronization.
