TIDA-01236, a reference design from Texas Instruments (TI), showcases a low-power wireless sensor that detects gas leaks by analyzing ultrasonic signals for specific patterns. It runs on a single Li-Primary coin cell and transmits data wirelessly to a base station, eliminating wiring needs and simplifying installation. An ultra-low-power fuel gauge monitors battery health and provides early warnings for timely replacement. The design is used for gas detection and building automation. It features a wireless sensor that identifies gas leaks by analyzing ultrasonic signals. Running on a single Li-Primary coin cell, it transmits data wirelessly to a base station, eliminating wiring and simplifying installation. A low-power battery fuel gauge monitors battery health and provides early warnings for replacement.

The system features accurate Li-primary battery gauging, ensuring an extended lifetime and predictable maintenance. It optimizes current consumption using multiple power domains and provides system diagnostics for precise power evaluation during development. A coin cell battery can operate for over three years when sensing every 30 seconds. Additionally, its leak detection works independently of gas type and does not require direct gas contact with the sensor.

Designed to replace manual inspections, this sensor activates at set intervals to check for leaks, captures audio, analyzes the frequency spectrum using a fast Fourier transform (FFT), and runs an algorithm to detect leaks. If a leak is found, it wirelessly alerts a base station and triggers its onboard alarm. It also wakes up once per day to report its status and battery level.

The bq35100 Battery Fuel Gauge helps track the life of non-rechargeable lithium batteries without draining them. With little power, it uses smart algorithms to measure battery health and end-of-service status. The device only turns on when needed to collect data and make calculations, saving energy.

The CC1310 wireless microcontroller is a low-power chip that helps devices communicate wirelessly using sub-1 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies. It is designed to work efficiently with small batteries, making it ideal for long-range and energy-saving applications. The microcontroller includes a powerful processor and a special radio controller to manage wireless signals without using too much power. Despite its low energy use, it still provides strong and reliable wireless performance.

The ultrasonic gas leak sensor needs a way to capture high-frequency sound. It uses a small digital microphone to pick up sounds up to 80 kHz. The microphone sends data in a special format that needs to be processed before analysis. An audio chip helps with this by receiving the sound data, filtering and reducing the amount of data, and then sending it to the CC1310 processor for further processing.
