Smart IoT Module With Edge Computing Capabilities

A smart module with computing, multimedia processing, and connectivity, designed for IoT, edge computing, AI, video streaming, gaming, and industrial applications. 

Quectel Wireless Solutions has introduced the SG882G, a high-performance Android/Linux smart module designed for industrial and consumer applications. With a compact size of 33.0mm × 39.0mm × 3.85mm, it delivers powerful computing, multimedia capabilities, and seamless connectivity, making it well-suited for space-constrained environments requiring real-time data processing.

Powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ QCS8550 IoT chipset, the SG882G features a Kryo CPU for edge computing and multimedia streaming. It includes an Adreno 740 GPU and a 48 TOPS neural processing unit for handling complex workloads. Additional features such as a Spectra ISP, Adreno 8550 VPU, and Adreno 1295 DPU enable advanced image processing, video encoding/decoding, and AI-driven applications.

The SG882G features a powerful multimedia processing engine, supporting 4K@120fps and 8K@30fps encoding, along with 4K@240fps and 8K@60fps decoding. This makes it ideal for applications such as video conferencing, live streaming, gaming, and AR/VR.

Designed for reliability, the module operates within a -30°C to +75°C temperature range. It supports Android 13 and Linux (Kernel 5.15), enabling developers to create scalable and future-ready IoT solutions.

The SG882G-AP is built to support a wide range of M2M applications with various interfaces, including:

• Display: 2 × 4-lane MIPI_DSI, DisplayPort v1.4 over Type-C
• Camera: Supports up to 8 cameras via multiple MIPI_CSI interfaces
• Audio: Digital microphone, MI2S interfaces, Hi-Fi I2S
• Connectivity: USB 3.1/2.0, PCIe (Gen3 & Gen4), UART, SPI, I2C, I2S, ADC, and GPIO
• Storage: Supports SD cards and embedded UFS memory up to 512 GB
