Forgetfulness
I have only had this for two weeks, so cannot comment on the longevity of the battery however the other features work great. The Smart Tag does provide a status of the battery via the Smart Things app and am assuming will notify me when the battery needs to be replaced.I attached one of the Smart Tags to my keychain as I have recently discovered that I unconsciously lay them down and an unable to locate them. The tags synced quickly to my Samsung Phone via the “Samsung Smart Things” app and are easily accessible for use. I like the feature of being to send a tone via the phone app to locate my keys and also to be able to send a phone from the Smart Tag to locate my phone. The option to rename the Smart Tags also helps (e.g. Smart Tag 1 or Key Tag etc.) so as to not become confused with the remaining Tags. I also like the “Notify when left behind” feature just in case I happen to leave the keys at a restaurant or other establishments. I did not turn on the said features for the remaining Smart Tags as I have reserved them for my luggage and are currently sitting in my nightstand. The Tags are a little thick and make my keychain a little bulky but am willing to overlook this in light of the benefits afforded by the product. Great product to keep track of your valuables.

It works as discribed
Where I live must have alot of samsung phones, since I always get a update on my tracker in the car. Short Range finder option works (trying to use the realtime tracker I learned to be patient and not move to fast). I love the double press for phone to beep option, already used it once to find my phone. If I’m missing my phone I can find it with my keys and vice versa, if I’m missing my phone and keys, I can find them using my smart watch, If I’m missing my smart watch/phone/keys I can use my laptop/tablet, If I’m missing all of those things, I can use my Alexa, if I’m missing all of that, I got seriously robbed.I got a protective case and used one as my keychain and works great, sometimes the button gets pressed in my pocket, but not often enough to be annoying (Happened once in the last week). My Galaxy Watch 7 can make the tag beep and adjust volume only as of 20240925I’ve seen online someone using the camera on there phone to show a visual of where the device is, but my S24 Ultra SmartThings App does not do that. It shows a circle and shows my distance with an arrow pointing where to go, nowhere as cool as the videos I have seen. I’m guessing they were using an app or setting I’m not aware of or that feature was removed.

Global tracking
These worked way better than I anticipated. My mom often travels for a month+ at a time and she’s not overly tech savvy so we’ll often go weeks without hearing from her. This round, we all agreed to put this Samsung Tag on her and it was a game changer. We were able to track her real time globally, which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to call her in areas we’d knew she’d have service. We could see the airport terminal she was in, her layover in Seoul, Korea, to her multi city trip in Vietnam and even through India. The real time data and how accurate these are was amazing. We’d keep one tag on us when we traveled to Southeast Asia recently and one tag in our luggage and based on were the gps dots were on the map, we could make an educated conclusion that the luggage was on the airplane/or near by. This device gives so much peace of mind.App: the app is a little clunky and needs to be streamlined. Sometimes it takes a few extra clicks and weird things to get to where you want if you have multiple devices or also following someone else’s tag. I do like that it gives you the ability to allow other Samsung devices owners to also track you and you can choose the level of access. The only con is that this will only work on Samsung devices, which is kinda a bummer. Otherwise, huge fan of this device!

This is NOT an Android environment device!
This is for Samsung Galaxy devices that are running OS 9 or higher *AND* compatible with Samsung’s SmartThings app ONLY!!! For example I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab running OS 14…. NOT compatible. I have a Galaxy S8 updated to OS 9 (supposed to be compatible) that we use in the house as a WiFi device…. NOT compatible. Just make sure you can install Samsung’s SmartThings on your device before you order.Does Samsung list compatible devices anywhere? not that I could find. Compat with my Google Pixel phone? no. We have an iPhone 15 Pro Max as one of our phones so I guess I’ll be returning these ‘S’ tags and ordering airtags, bummer. No to Tile because it’s not clear to me if you actually lose something (stolen), does someone have to be within 400 feet of it AND have the Tile app installed on their device in order for me to locate the tile? seems rather unlikely whereas the SmartTag2 and airtag devices can be detected native by any (almost any ;)) Galaxy mobile device or iPhone device (respectively) native to the devices (they do not have to be running a locator app), so much more likely to be found. Anyway, if there was something native to the Android ecosystem (a Google device) I would go for that in a heartbeat.Short story on TIle: I bought a 4-pack when they first came out (many years ago) and they were fun and worked well, but when the batteries started to fail I went to replace and…. OH NO, these batteries are not replaceable, you have to send the device back to tile and buy replacement units…. what? so I cracked one open and guess what, it was just a CR2032 watch battery (or CR2016 I don’t recall), Silicon Valley greed at its finest! They just want to rip you (me) off claiming “oh that’s needed so that they are waterproof”, yeah, no, it’s needed so that you can charge recurring costs to your customers, not cool. They have replaceable batteries now but the whole greed thing was such a turn-off to me that I’m not going there.Yeah I was one of the original ZOOMBACK customers too, great concept back in the day, but greed and poor customer service put them out of business, too bad, they owned the market for a while. It didn’t work very well (spotty GSM-only network coverage back then), but it was better than nothing. Device was pricey, subscription was pricey, but it was kind of cool. Like a Lojack for your (enter expensive toy name here).GOOD LUCK!
