doesn’t work with dual band wifi
UPDATE: After a little research, I found I could turn off my 5 GHz band, program the bulb and then turn the 5 GHz back on. The bulb works great again. I am revising this review to 5 stars (from 4).I bought and installed them last year. They were easy to connect and worked very well. However, now that I have upgraded my router where the dual bands are combined (provides the convenience of connecting to whichever band is strongest), these don’t work. Yes, it tells you in the description it won’t work with dual bands. My loss. I would rather have the convenience of the combined dual bands than these bulbs.

I have these all over my home! They are great! They connect to Alexa! So we do little dance partyâs, and you can connect the lights to the music! They are super bright! But you can adjust this! They work great! And a great value for your money!

I bought these bulbs to better automate my home. I love that work from my phone. Me being disabled I hate when I forget to turn off the lights in the livingroom after I’m in bed. But these work so good. I love the colors. Makes it fun to create the perfect mood and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend buying this product. My only complaint would be that sometimes you have to reconnect them to the the internet. But it’s not that difficult to do once you learn the process. It also works the home app and alexa

The bulbs are nice and the color variety is lovely. I think the app was a bit of a hassle though because it gave me a really hard time when I tried to pair all 3 bulbs together to control them at the same time. I ended up having to remove them and re-sync them a couple times to make it work.Also, just incase you missed it like I did, THESE REQUIRE WIFI. My router was too far away for these to work at first so I had to move it closer to the room I needed them in.

Way too involved and invasive setup procedure
TL;DR: Setup requires use of a secondary app that requires you to create an account, and asks for too much info, such as internet passwords, GPS, camera access, etc. Other smartbulbs do not require any of this.—–I’ve bought smartbulbs from Philips before and think they’re great. They’re easy to use–just plug them in, sync to Alexa and you’re good to go.Ghome? Not so much.First of all, the bulbs I recieved were Gosund, not Ghome, which I thought were the wrong bulbs at first, but a little research shows this is just one of those dodgy brands that seems to change names every other week. Should have stopped in full here, but I pressed on anyway because, after all, already had the bulbs, right?Second: To connect them, I had to download their proprietary app first, which would have been only midly annoying were it not for the fact that I also had to make an account. Again, this is just for light bulbs… Still, I figured I’ll just do this, get them connected and then delete the bloatware app afterward. But, of course, there was more…Third: After logging in and going to set up, the app gives you options to use bluetooth or wifi to set up. I chose bluetooth. It still asked for my wifi password anyway (because of course it did), along with access to camera, etc. Growing more annoyed at this point, I gave in and entered the wifi password (again, figuring I’ll just delete all this after setup). Then it asked me to activate my GPS. That’s where I finally drew the line. What in the world does it need all of this information and access for? My GPS? Seriously? Why do I have to jump through so many hoops and give access to so much info just to use lightbulbs? What next? My SSN and blood type?At this point I deleted the app, blocked its access to any of my info, packed the bulbs back up, and requested a return.That’s what I get for trying to save a few bucks by ordering these bulbs instead of sticking with the Philips ones (or some other more reputable name brand), which again, asked for no info or required other another app, and I could connect within seconds.I do not recommend these bulbs at all. Avoid them and spend a little more on something reputable and reliable.

Worked good at first now 2/4 bulbs never go online anymore and only stay white
Wifi feature is not all that nice. I actually wouldâve preferred a remote instead. Maybe wouldâve lasted longer. Only 2/4 bulbs can still change color. NOT HAPPY.Edit: they started working again like 2 weeks later.. so Iâm happy again lol Iâm using them directly via Bluetooth now and not wifi (on my phone)New edit: they stopped working again and i unpaired them and deleted them and restarted/ reconnected like new. I will say this, i only have had problems when theyâre in a group. I have 3 in a group and one solo. The solo one has never given problems and i always easily change the color with my automation i made. Would be nice to be able to make the same for groups. Iâd like to set a specific scene i made for a group with a simple one tap automationâ¦

Bottom Line – Worth It!
I use these bulbs throughout my home. I’m big on automation, and have routines written for my indoor and outdoor lighting. I bought switch plates to block anyone accidentally turning the switches off, and I use only WiFi control and automation with them. Routines turn my outdoor lighting on at sunset, turns them off at sunrise, and is an added safety and security feature to give me peace of mind. And during Halloween, my outdoor lighting can flash some crazy colors and patterns, a spooky treat for the neighborhood kids!I took off a star only because I have found a higher failure rate with these bulbs than I would expect. Doesn’t matter if the bulb is installed indoor or outdoor, after a certain amount of time I’ve had these bulbs just give up the ghost. It’s not just these in particular, though. I have been through 5 or 6 different brands and they all give the same experience (probably because they are all coming out of the same factory). But for the price point, I continue to use and will continue to buy them.
