Customers say
Customers like the ease of use and convenience of the electronic switch. They mention it’s simple to install and saves them a few steps to turning their light on. However, some customers have reported that the clap volume is too loud, the noise level is too low, and other sounds set it off when they don’t mean for it to. They also dislike the turn on and off. Opinions differ on its functionality and value for money.

works as designed – great for weak individuals with limited dexterity
I purchased this for my mother who has very poor dexterity due to arthritis. She is able to clap – although a bit weakly so. Nevertheless, she can now control her room light instead of waiting for us to come by and adjust her lighting for her. Some days, as we were working or running errands, she would have to patiently wait for us to turn her lamp on or off. Now she has a little more control. If there was anything that could be changed, I wish I could adjust the sensitivity of the clap sound. At her weakened state, her claps are soft and are not always detected by the device. We moved the clapper up to her night stand and secured it safely to the side by bringing up a heavy duty extension cord through the table, yet out of the way. This makes it physically close to her. So far so good.

Love it!
Iâm not in to âAlexaâ! I kept telling my husband I needed a â clapperâ. He surprised me. Works like a charm. I have it plugged into my night table lamp. I either clap or knock on my nightstand to turn it on or off and donât need to stretch for the lamp switch. Whatâs old is new again! LOL

Worked for intended purpose
I bought this as a gag gift for my husband. We were talking one night about the old commercial. I thought it was hilarious since we use Alexa for bedroom lights, etc. He loved it for a couple of weeks. It doesn’t always respond, but worked as it was intended, as a gag gift.

3 stars because when it works it’s great but it has it’s issues. Great for Christmas lights.
When this works it’s great. It has that retro chic kinda vibe to it that yeah, you can accomplish with a phone and a smart plug, but it just has that old-school feel and nostalgic throwback to the ads from years ago.Great for Christmas trees and lights. That being said….. lol… it has it’s issues. It works maybe 50% of the time to the point that I’ve almost returned it a couple of times out of frustration but I think it’s too late now. You can’t place this near anything that has a speaker on it and expect it to work whole sound is coming out of the speaker. I guess I just though it was smart enough to tell what was a clap and what was music, but it’s not.Installation is simple and there’s a two-clap outlet and a three-clap outlet on it so you can have two different devices attached with different claps to activate. If you saw the ads and remember the clap they used, well it doesn’t work like that. It probably made for a catchy ad but at least with the device that we got, you need a much longer pause between claps to get it to work so if you’re having trouble getting things to turn on with the clap from the ads try a longer pause and see if that helps.Should be 15 bucks tops. 21 or 22 bucks is a bit much for what this is.

Amazing
I donât know how it does it, but it amazingly distinguishes between random noises and loud claps. I believe itâs the rhythm that it goes by. The genius thing is that thereâs a light showing if it registers your claps so you can learn the rhythm needed. I recently discovered that it also responds to taps so when Iâm nearby the device, I just tap on it in the same rhythm. We have two different items plugged in, one turns on/off on 2 claps, and one turns on/off on 3 claps. Truly this device is fantastic. My elementary school kid wanted it because her light switch is far from her bed and she loves it. Iâm so glad we got this instead of some wifi or other unnecessary higher tech gadget.

Bad reviews are overblown. This is great
Im gonna start off by saying the bad reviews really made me question my purchase but itâs not âa piece of junkâ itâs good it just takes some getting used to. Practice getting the clap right because it is a specific rhythm you gotta do but once you get it down it works like a charm. Do have to clap a bit loudly then again I do have music playing and a fan on but maybe at night when everything always seems to sound louder because thereâs no noise throughout the house a quieter clap will suffice but I still have to test that; I donât want to wake anybody up with my shenanigans. But overall great product works as advertised clap on, clap off just donât expect it to respond to your claps without a bit of practice getting the rhythm down, but itâs not hard or annoying once u know how it wants you to clapUpdate: At night itâs actually harder to use because your claps sound like theyâre very loud while not actually being that loud. In the daytime no problem using it from my bed but at night when the whole house is silent the claps have to sound very loud (even though theyâre not actually that loud itâs just very quiet around me) and this actually stops me from using it late at night because I donât want to wake anyone up but my workaround to this is just to make sure I turn my lights off right as everyone is heading to bed. Maybe a slight inconvenience but since it works for 95% of the day itâs ok. And late at night if I really have to turn the lights on you can get close to the box and clap quietly so it works out to be honest

Great clapper that has been around for the past 40 years
Got this for my aging mother who needs to have the light switch closer in her room. This works perfect. My only complaint is sometimes it takes a couple extra claps to get it on

Works as described! The only very minor thing is you have to practice timing between claps although I quickly.learned.

Tienes que acostumbrarte a lograr el tono y volumen adecuado, pero si tu lo logras el equipo funciona, en mi casa me han odiado por estar aplaudiendo en la madrugada…

When ready to go to sleep my night lamp can be a reach so the clapper lets me clap twice and turn off the light. Itâs magic:)

This thing could use some modern engineering. It looks like they never touched it from the day it was invented. Things that shouldn’t be registered as a clap are. Then when you do clap, it doesn’t register.I’m not unhappy with the product. Also not happy with the product.
