Play with a pal who has all the write stuff in the Mr. Pencil’s Scribble, Write and Read. Follow Mr. Pencil’s lead! Use the stylus and trace the dotted lines to write numbers, lowercase letters and uppercase letters. Then watch the letters transform into animated animals, objects and more. The numbers transform into objects that equal the number’s value. Tap Mr. Pencil on them to count each one. Pencil perfect! Find letters to build words and explore early spelling skills. Complete a new word and sound it out. Slide Mr. Pencil across the screen, and the bright lights of the sound-it-out bar follow along as you go. Add personalization by programming a child’s first, middle and last name. Kids can then practice writing the words they’re most familiar with—their name! Mr. Pencil loves to draw. Watch him draw a picture using dotted lines and then trace over it. Kids can also follow their own creativity and free-draw anything they can imagine. That was fun, let’s play some more! Intended for ages 3+ years. Requires 3 AA batteries. Batteries included for demo purposes only. New batteries recommended for regular use.

Leapfrog Mr Pencil
I bought this for my great nephew for Christmas. I checked it out and is is a fantastic little toy! Teaches child spelling, how to write their name, upper and lower case alphabet, and numbers. It is well worth the money and it is durable.

LOVE this toy!
My son loves this toy and plays with it constantly. He just turned 4, already knows all his letters/letter sounds, and is now ready to write and begin reading. This toy has been so helpful in teaching him the correct way to write letters. We use traditional work books, which he also enjoys, but he doesn’t want me to correct his letter formation. Practicing with this has translated into him being able to write better with pencil and paper. It also has a few games to teach CVC words. Since playing with this he’s been figuring out simple 3-letter words wherever he sees them all on his own.For only $25 it’s been one of the best purchases for homeschooling!

Engaging, probably over-stimulatung
I got this when my kid started getting really interested in spelling. So far it’s been great keeping him engaged with the letter writing feature. So overall positive. Be aware it’s considerably on the flashing lights, constant sounds/talking, over-stimulatung side of things, which I wish would get toned down.

Great learning toy. My 5yo loves it.
It works so much better than I could have hoped from a battery-operated toy. It has multiple games/activities that work really well considering its relatively low price-point.There are lots of similar options for tablets, but we found that when he uses his tablet, he gets distracted by other apps and will watch a movie instead of practicing his letters/spelling. Since this toy is designed to do only certain/specific activities, we know we can give it to our son and he will stick to the curriculum, rather than moving on to something less educational. The touch display works well and is very responsive. The letter writing is effective without being too strict. Sometimes writing toys/apps expect children to follow the paths perfectly and write the letters exactly as they are expected. This toy is more forgiving, but still shows them what the letters should look like.Surprisingly, my son will practice for an hour, just for fun, without it feeling like something heâs being forced to play.

Very educational and easy for parents to navigate
This is a very educational toy and I like that it has a quieter setting. You can add a first, middle, and last name. Or alternatively, have three kids first names or two and a last name. You gotta cheat the system where you can.
