Initial impression: VERY good!
At the of time of writing, my Smart Garage Door Opener arrived at 730am (thanks Amazon), I had it installed by 9am, & I’m writing this review at 912am. That alone should tell you how smoothly things went with getting this thing installed and setup to my Apple HomeKit. That said, here is an unbiased review.INSTALL: 9/10. This will be what most people would be concerned about, but I wouldn’t stress about it at all. Other than a little time, it was actually very easy to install. In the box was the main device, the power for it (USB block), and the loooong cable that is the sensor (to tell you if your garage is open or closed.) Beyond that, it came with a zip tie, a bunch of double side adhesives (for the sensor and unit), 4 screws (for the sensor), and the instructions (paper and in the app). With or without the instructions, it’s pretty obvious how this thing connects to your existing garage opener, and at one point I found myself lone-wolfing the install without instructions because I could tell what I needed to do just by looking at it. All I did was pre-setup my new opener in the house (to connect it to the wifi & Apple HomeKit), disconnected power to my existing garage opener, ran the sensor, connected the two terminal wires, and powered everything on. DONE! Install really was that simple. Though it came with 4 sensor screws, I ended up only using 2 because I found the sensor connected to the garage door itself stuck easier with the double side adhesives; plus the door itself was metal and the screws wouldn’t go in as easy as just using the adhesives.HOMEKIT CONNECTION: 10/10. I was very impressed how easy it was to setup this device to Apple HomeKit. Everything starts by downloading the manufacturers app and connecting your phone to the 2.4GHz wifi (the new opener won’t work on 5GHz, but it’s not a problem at all). The manufacturers app will walk you step-by-step through the setup. It will have you use your camera to scan the HomeKit QR (located on the device itself), you’ll have the chance to name your device, and it will even prompt you to enable automations to where it will open or close your garage automatically based on you arriving or leaving your home. That was a huge bonus that I didn’t know of, but I added them! HomeKit will setup the device’s wifi automatically, so you won’t have to worry about typing in passwords. Overall, the HomeKit setup was very seamless. (As a side note, I did NOT need to connect this device to a HomePod, AppleTV, or iPad. The instructions reference those devices, but setting up the new opener to the wifi completely bypassed needing any of those devices.)EASE OF USE: 9/10. The new system is very easy to use. I only had one time in the beginning that it didn’t open the garage after I requested it to, but I haven’t had that problem since. Plus, I can open my HomeKit app and simply tap my garage opener to open the garage if I’m already on my phone. I haven’t tested the arriving/leaving home automations yet, but I will definitely be putting it through the courses soon.PRICE VS VALUE: 10/10. At the time of writing, I bought this device on sale for $39.49. For the quick delivery by Amazon, the ease of install, and the ease of HomeKit setup & use, this is definitely worth the price paid and I would highly recommend it.LAST-MINUTE RECOMMENDATION: I recommend disabling notifications from the manufacturers app so you don’t receive double notifications (manufacturer and Apple) every time the garage is opened and closed. The HomeKit notifications are more than enough and you’ll likely be getting notifications from other devices in HomeKit anyways, so the manufacturers app is unnecessary after install. It’s up to you, though. You can choose to receive notifications from either one based on your preferences.Overall, I’m very impressed with this device. Time will tell how it holds up, but so far I’m optimistic that this will be a long-lasting addition to my smart house.

Great product one set up properly
I added this to my homekit and works great but I stress you must set up to only 2.4 GHz and not a wifi that shares 2.4GHz and 5 GHz. Let me explain, I have a wifi with both so I thought it would be fine to add since this only uses 2.4GHz. Unfortunately, it was disconnecting weekly and I need to pull the plug and reset it. I was getting frustrated and almost returned.I set it up on a wifi that only was 2.4GHz bandwidth and it has been rock solid since. I don’t understand why this is the case since most devices can play nicely with wifi that has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.Great purchase for automation and security knowing that you can see your garage door closed at night!!!

Second one
This is the second one I had to buy as the first one crapped out on me. It works great so far and have had about a month or two now. It was easy to install. It connects to my internet easily even though the router is quite a ways away across the house.

Easier than I was expecting
If I had to make a complaint, it would be that the wires on the device should be labeled. If you have no idea what you’re doing, you would have no way of knowing the brown is the live wire and goes into your black terminal, while the blue goes into the white. Otherwise? Everything went very smoothly. The most trouble I had was getting the terminals on my garage door opener to release so I could push the device’s cables in. But no issues with the device itself. The app is very descriptive when it comes to assisting with installation. Walks you through every little thing, even providing examples for some steps too. The thing that took me the longest was tracking the sensor wire all the way across my ceiling, which has nothing to do with the device or manufacturer. Just takes time for that part. Otherwise it was fast, easy, and it just worked right off the bat. I love the peace of mind of being able to double-check “did I remember to close the garage door?” as I’m heading down the road after leaving my house.Short and sweet: the device is easy to install and the app is easy to use. Easy all the way around. Saves a lot of money rather than buying a whole brand new opener if all you need is the “smart” functionality

Great Product. Integrated easily with Apple phone and Alexa. You need to first setup Meross Account and then link it with either Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa Skill. I had issues with PIN not set with Google integration. I will describe how to sort this further down in this review.Remote operation by your smart phone assistant:The remote operation from your assistant will only work if you have a “Home Hub” such as Alexa EcoShow, Google or Apple Speakers or other compatible devices. Otherwise your phone needs to be connected to the same WiFi network as the Meross device. If you are hoping to ask Alexa or Siri to open your garage as you approach your home, bear in mind, you need the appropriate infrastructure. What if you don’t have home hub?If you don’t have a “Home Hub”, you can still operate it remotely from the Meross App but not from smart phone assistant.Installation:-Installation is pretty straight forward. Took me some time to figure out where should I place the sensor. After lot of deliberation, I just installed it on the garage opener dolly (the thing form which the red emergency release string hangs) and it works perfectly. It also made it possible for me to run the cable right on the top of metal channel in which the dolly runs and run the sensor cable all the way to motor unit. Its almost made the installation invisible as I have also hidden the Meross unit also on the top of the Motor Unit. Connection with the the Tiltmaster 100 (opener) was straight forward.I needed to adjust the opening time in the the app setting, else it keeps giving a false “stuck” alarm. The opening time that you should set in the app should be 3-5 seconds more than greater of closing or opening time. In my case he actual opening time was 15 sec and closing time was 25 sec. I set it to 30 sec and the false alarms stopped.Google Integration Issue:After integrating your Meross and Google accounts, open the Meross App, you will see a a garage door tile in the app. Click on the white area of the tile (avoiding the grey garage image). This will open the device settings. Under settings, go to Amazon alexa and Google assistant and make sure PIN is enabled and then set the PIN. This should resolve the issue. PS: You need PIN for opening the garage and not for closing the garage. When you integrate this with Alexa, Alexa allows you to set a pin directly from the Alex App.I have also set the Alexa Eco Show to announce when the Garage Door is opened and Closed. Unfortunately, when the garage door is shut for many hours, Alexa randomly announced “Garage Door Closed” every 3-4 hours. I got jump scared at 3 am when Alexa made a loud announcement that “Garage Door is Closed”. I disabled the close announcements there and then! The open announcements still work fine. There is a new firmware for the device after I installed it but so far I did not get an opportunity to test if it has fixed the random “closed” announcement issue .Hope this helps.Edit: 10 Sep 22 – The firmware update has NOT fixed the issue with âClosedâ announcement
