Great company. Great quality product.
Since I retired one year and a half ago, my wife and I started to travel more and we experience staying different places on Airbnb, and those residency all use smart locks. My wife decided that it would be a good idea to use a smart lock for our house too. It wasnât until she mentioned to me that â you know they also make smart locks that open with fingerprints â and my search took me to LockStar. This smart lock checked all the boxes, keypad, fingerprints, key fob, autolock, remote, opening and closing. I read the reviews of five stars and a I purchased one. Once it arrived I register my warranty and soon after I received the message from the owner of the company family owned, thanking me for the purchase of his product and if I had any question or issue with the product to please get in touch with his company. Mind you I just bought a brand new SUV for $40.000 from the FORD company, and my wife and I didnât get a thank you message from FORD inc. thatâs the difference when you buy from family owned businesses. I had planed to install the LockStar on the garage side door of the house, a couple days later unfortunately I had an accident and I hurt my right hand and I wasnât able to do it. A week later the owner of the company his name is Paul, reach out and wanted to make sure that I had no problem with installing the product, I told him that I was planning to install the Smart lock in a few days probably the weekend, again he said to me if I had any question or issues, please reach out, I did have a question for him, and I asked him if I could install the Smart lock without the out-lock feature and he responded, yes I could, and we left it as that. Customer Service from 1 to 10 â¦.a huge 11 Once I opened the box, inspected the lock and I was impressed by the quality, everything was there tools, screws, and I wondered if everything wouldâve properly fit on the door, every part was machined and produce to perfection, everything aligned perfectly in place it was an easy install. I did install the autolock, and what a great feature that is. Once I finished, it was time to set up the LockStarâ¦. the code on the keypad, the key fob, the fingerprint, and the gateway for remote opening and closing of the smart lock, and WOW !!!! I was so impressed. Every operation of LockStar smart lock was smooth and fast, when I say every operation I mean all OPERATION !!!!! the key pad, the fingerprint, the key fob, using the gateway remote opening and closing of the lock, took a split second to operate the lock, everything worked smoothly. I was so impressed that I am purchasing 2 more of them, one for my front door and one for my back door. BUTâ¦..what was more impressive is the customer Service from LockStar from a scale of 1 to 10 they are definitely 11 !!!!!!! lockStar smart lock I give it a 10 stars. I did reach out the LockStar company 1 more time and I want to give a personal thank you from my wife and I to Paul and everyone in his company for his blessed patience for helping out this old man to install this magnificent LockStar smart lock. Incredible product, impeccable service
This really is an amazing security system. There are so many features, and every single one of them works! I have distinct passcodes and finger prints for people in my life and I have also used the expiration dates for when I needed someone to have quick access while I was away. What was even better is that the family who have created this is with you the whole way to help with set up, warranty and a check in to see how they can help. I have spoken with Paul a few times to make sure everything works and I know I can rely on them if I need anything else.Installation is so easy and if you happen to get lost, there is a video and manual to help you on the way. Fingerprint setup is quick and easy, the lock lets you know when itâs locked and unlocked, the material is strong and sleek – itâs everything you want in security and notifications. This product will be perfect for a single family, AirBnB or even a rental. You canât go wrong!

Great lock with Superb service!!
Best Keylock with great supportI shopped around a lot looking for the perfect Smart Lock and asked questions before I decided to buy this one. I’m glad I did as its got everything needed already included in the box. You don’t need to purchase anything else. Even the Gateway is included which is a wonderful bonus.Paul was very helpful in answering my questions. The Lock was easy to set up and install. I was able to easily set my code, fingerprints and IC card effortlessly. The Gateway setup was also easy. I was able to easily set custom passcodes for friends and family and even Emergency Services using the Smart911 app. I was also able to set up fingerprint unlock for my nephew so he won’t have a code to forget or a fob to lose.THE LOCK: The Lock can be unlocked via Fingerprint, fob, key code, Bluetooth, Alexa, Google Home, eKey, and Remote unlock as well as good ole fashioned physical Key which gives me Safety Reassurance. Only one fingerprint can be setup at a time. If you want to unlock by right and left index you need to create each one separately and assign your name differently for each one. Mine is setup as Kelly Right Index, Kelly Left Index. It will show up in the logs as exactly that. It’s durable and built well. It looks good especially when paired with a matching door handle. The lock automatically locks when closed with the sensor hooked up. If you don’t use the sensor you’ll have to use timed auto lock. Alexa can also setup a routine to lock the door after a certain time. If your really sophisticated you can have Alexa check an alarm sensor on the door (assuming you have an Alexa compatible alarm sensor) and if cleared lock the door.Alexa was easy to set-up and works great. You can create a separate verbal code so you can tell her to lock or unlock the door and use that code. “Alexa, unlock front door code 1234”. You can also ask her the status of your lock. “Alexa, what’s the status of my front door lock?”I like being able to create ekeys and setup my IC Cards (Fobs) as I need. Whats great about it is whether your choosing fingerprint, code keys, ekeys, or Fobs you can set each as permanent, reccurring (on a schedule like a housekeeper), or Timed (Start and Expire Time). You can revoke them at any time. Lose the fob? No problem simply delete or revoke it in the app. There is one mode I failed to mention because it’s not typically used. There’s a mode called “ERASE” in this mode a one time code is generated and once used, ALL CODES USED ON THE LOCK ARE ERASED. I guess that would be useful if you were a landlord or AirBnB or something and needed to erase all users codes at once.If you have more than one lock, you can group them together so that one passcode or card will be valid for all of them. It’s much like they do in offices and hospitals but for you it would be your front and back doors. One FOB to rule them all.The App keeps logs of who unlocked the door and what time and date. With the Contact sensor attached you can tell if the door is unlocked and open or locked and closed. Inside the app you can see the battery level. It has a feature called “Passage Mode” which lets you choose what days and times the door will NOT auto lock. Great if you have movers or a repair company that need to go in and out a lot. The app also allows you to adjust the lock sound volume. You can turn on Tamper Alert”. “Privacy Mode” which lets you prevent everyone except those with physical Keys, Admin Passcode or the Admin App to open the door.As for those like me who were inquiring about extra fobs, Paul is planning on maybe selling extras at some point. Let him know your interested. In the meantime the IC Cards are 13.56MHz Standard NXP Mifare Classic 1k NFC Cards or fobs. Any standard TTLock IC Card should work just fine. They are easily found all over Amazon such as those made by “Catchface” those are universal and should work. I would rather buy the same ones that come with the lock and support Paul plus they look cool.My only real nitpick which is more of a feature Request for a future version of the lock, is to make a Z-Wave version so it can work with my Ring Home Alarm System allowing the Remote Monitoring Service to unlock the door for the Emergency Services as well as my ring System to Lock and unlock my door and tie it to the Alarm System. I can still do it with workarounds tho so not a super big deal right now. Also the voice is a little low and you might not hear it if it’s noisy. It’s loud enough to hear when you’re close to it tho.I did not test the tamper alert so not sure how that works or if it sounds a siren. That would certainly deter most would be criminals especially if it’s loud.I do like that it has a failsafe battery backup option to open the door but carrying around a 9 volt or locating one in a nearby store is very inconvienient since most people like myself carry a power bank to charge our phone, ear pods, and what have you it would be easier to make a USB-C port. However I found a cheap and simple workaround solution. I bought a USB 5 volt to 9 Volt step up converter cable to carry around with my power bank. No need to go looking for a 9 Volt battery or carry one now. If you still want that option Amazon sells a 9v rechargeable one for around 10 dollars.Despite the no Z-Wave and 9 volt battery things I’m actually very satisfied with the lock and would recommend and buy it again.I will point out that the magnet for the sensor isn’t quite strong enough to reach the sensor given where I have to place the magnet. My door moulding is awkwardly shaped making placement a tad difficult. However, again with a simple workaround I made it work. If you have weird door moulding like me, disassemble the magnet cover, remove the tiny silver magnet, then you can cut out a small place in the door frame where the magnet is supposed to go across from the sensor, then put a tiny amount of rubber glue or whatever works for you into the hole then set the magnet into the hole so it’s flush with the door frame. Not only virtually invisible but it won’t fall off the frame or have little kids messing with it. Optionally you can just go up to Walmart or your local hardware store and get a small but stronger magnet and fasten it to the door frame across from the sensor.I bought 10 IC cards off Temu for real cheap and they programmed just fine and work perfectly.I was also able to write ownership of the cards and “if lost” information to the IC Cards using an NFC reader / writer app off Google. This is NOT recommended for novices as you could leave the card unusable. But if you know what your doing you can write anything to the card and then password protect it, if you wish. The door sensor works much better than the Timed Autolock which can be a real pain to use. The door has no way of knowing if its closed or open and will just lock even if it’s open. I have that turned off because of my nephew and his friends. If your looking for a great Smartlock with great support, my advice is, don’t think about it, JUST DO IT and buy this one. You wont go wrong. If and when Paul makes a Z-Wave version I will DEFINITELY buy it. Plus you’ll be helping to support a family owned business with great support from Paul.UPDATE: 2023-11-10An update to my reference to the alarm and lockout feature above that I did not test. My nephew was here and he had trouble the first few times getting the position of his finger on the fingerprint reader correctly and so eventually set off the mini alarm and the timed lockout. I was able to use my app to unlock the door so we could get in. So the alarm and timed temporary lockout does work and works well. It won’t let you unlock the door until the timer expires or you use your admin features or using the app. He does now get it right now. Btw, neither my fob, fingerprint or passcode would work. I didn’t test the admin code. I just used the app.UPDATE: June 24, 2024Recently my lock Started beeping a series of 4 beeps 5 times in a row and would not lock/unlock. Nothing I tried worked. Paul asked me to try a reset wich I did but it did not work. I filmed the error as requested and sent it to him. He informed me that the motor was not engaging and would Send a replacement. It arrived the next day. 5 starsâââââ for the fast reply and replacement. I installed it without a problem and set it all back up. It has been working perfectly since.I also found out that under Passkeys you can remote add a card. And playing around with it I added my NFC enabled debit card and tested it. I can say that it does work as long as you have a Credit or Debit card with RFID. A great way to give someone access like your spouse or yourself since you always carry around your wallet or purse youd always have a Key fob to your lock. This was something I never read anywhere for any SmartLock but I can confirm that you can add your own Credit/Debit card with RFID as a key for your lock through the app, “Passkeys” section. Select the little 3 dots in the upper right hand corner and select “Add Card Remotely” Select which type of card, I chose “permanent” then give the Card a name. Its usually the persons name. I typed my name the a hyphen then my card type I used Vermo. Touch it to the back of your phone and it will add it as a key for your lock. Just a little TIP I thought I would provide for you that you might find usefull.
