How to Use
Two Sharpening Slot
Insert blade fully and vertically into appropriate sharpening slot at a 90 degree angle to the sharpener. Gently with light pressure pull the knife blade from heel to tip in direction of indicator arrows. Repeat above action until blade is sharp
Tapered Diamond Rod
Put end of the rod against the cutting edge of the serration or gut hook. Match grind angle. Push the rod through the serration or gut hook while applying moderate pressure and rolling the rod as you push. Repeat until cutting edge is sharp.Hone the serrations by pulling blade through No. 2 ceramic slot.
Fire Starter
Note: Only after you remove the outer black coating should sparks come off the fire stick as it scrapes over the No. 1 crossed carbide blades.
Fully insert the fire stick into No. 1 carbide slot and pull the fire stick quickly through the slot in direction of indicator arrows.Repeat pulling the fire stick through the slot quickly until the tinder ignites. Note: it may take a number of pulls the first time it is used to remove the outer black coating.
Emergency Whistle
Position lips over opening in upper left of product and blow vigorously.
Do NOT cover the air outlet on the top of product.

This is one of my favorite purchases on the internet! Although it seems to be, at first glance, a bit cheaply made, for the cost and for the use I have already gotten from this little beauty, it was worth every penny….. and when this one does finally wear out, I will get another one. It sharpens very well and with great speed. Just a few swipes across the stones, and she’s ready for tomatoes! All the extras work as well. The whistle, the fire starter, and the hook sharpener. I have many tools, and I find it very easy to loose one, by putting it down in a bad spot when you’re busy, or just forgetting where you store a tool that you don’t often use (such as a knife sharpener)., but THIS baby is BRIGHT colored, and always standing out to say to me….”Hey Mister….Are your knives sharp?” BUY, BUY, BUY!

perfect for pruning tools
I chose this sharpener for its versatility, compact size and reasonable price. I successfully used this product to sharpen two hand pruners and a larger loping shears with ease and great results. I took the first hand pruner apart, mostly to clean it well before sharpening, so it was easy to run the bIade through the sharpener. To my surprise, I was able to sharpen the second hand pruner easily without taking it apart; same with the big loppers. I had a much easier time pruning the azaleas and other shrubs in the yard this weekend. This product is compact, portable, easy to use, and does a fine job sharpening my tools. Next I will use them on my scissors to see how that works. Highly Recommended.

Works well, gets knifes sharp enough, whistle is pretty loud and fire starter works.
I’ve used several little sharpeners like this and this is one of the better ones. Easy to use and puts a good edge on knives. Don’t expect it to get your knifes razor sharp but it will get them sharp enough to for example cut through a old soft tomato. As mentioned in the headline the whistle is loud and the fire starter work. The rods have a coating on them you need to scrape off first, any reviews saying they don’t work must just not know how to use them. Will I ever need the whistle or fire starter probably not but they’re nice to have and although they add to the size of it it’s still just small enough to carry with you in your pocket/throw on a key chain.

It’s good if you need to sharpen something fast or if you’re camping and need to sharpen a hatchet etc but it doesn’t get the knife super sharp. I still prefer using a wet stone over this but being able to just throw this in your pocket, car or backpack etc makes it pretty useful. I gave it a 3 out of 5 because I have seen other brands like this one that would make the blade a lot sharper but it still gives a decent edge if you need it fast

The kit of tools that are bundled together are perfect for the outdoorsperson, at a glance. However, not all of the tools are of equal quality. Let me review each one, starting with the best (in my opinion):BLADE SHARPENINGThese are FANTASTIC, and are the best elements to this pocket tool. The coarse sharpener really cuts, and it is easy to set a new edge to any non-serrated blade. Very little pressure is required to bring an edge back to life, and this tool actually takes quite a bit of material off, so be careful. The fine ceramic honing tool is amazing at revitalizing edges without taking much material off, and this will probably be your go-to sharpener.SERRATED SHARPENINGIt’s a quirky little rod with a rough surface and acts like a sharpener for most sizes of serrations, but quite a bit of skill is required to get the angle right. You must practice patience and a steady hand to prevent scratching surfaces (like matte powder coatings). I have not been able to successfully sharpen any serrations to the degree of my liking, but will continue to practice.About the diamond rod itself… The hinge mechanism is not the most sturdy thing, and the first time I used it, I pinched a piece of my finger right off so be careful how you open it. As well, the rough surface of the rod tip actually removes material from the plastic casing (it “pinches” the rod in the closed position) and so I feel that, over time, the rod will fail to remain closed.LANYARD HOLESimple and wide enough for shoelace/paracord applications. Located in a good corner of the tool. Keeps this thing from forgetting its address.FERROCERIUM RODIt is short and quite thin, but it strikes well (after you remove quite a bit of the black paint). The main issue I have with this feature is that it does not sit snugly into the tool itself. The only thing preventing this ferro rod from getting lost is a TINY little notch that is etched into the cheap plastic orange knob. You’re gonna want to secure this to the tool with a bit of black electrical tape or something.FISH HOOK SHARPENING GROOVEHonestly have not needed to use this, nor will I likely ever use this – sorry!WHISTLEIt sucks. If you’ve got enough breath to blow into this and activate it, you can scream louder. Stuff some cotton into the whistle hole for emergency tinder, I guess.EDIT:I came back to give this product 5 stars because I just returned from a multi-day hike and this tool was instrumental to the success of my trip. Deducting 1 star for the whistle was not fair to this product – it is overall a very good item.

Pequeño, portátil y cumple bien con su función principal. En lo personal yo lo compré para tenerlo en la cocina, ya que no requiero afilar cuchillos con tanta frecuencia y los afiladores de cocina suelen tomar más espacio. La caracterÃstica principal que lo puso sobre otros afiladores es el palillo para afilar cuchillos dentados y serrados. Tarda considerablemente más en afilar estos que cuchillos de hoja lisa, pero permite hacerlo sin maltratarlos lo cual es esencial. El chispero es algo complicado de usar ya que su punto de apoyo es pequeño y es difÃcil pasarlo con la velocidad correcta por las hojas del afilador sin angularlo, además de que es difÃcil apuntar dónde van a aterrizar las chispas. Aún asà podrÃa ser útil. El silbato de supervivencia es su peor función ya que apenas se escucha, aunque realmente eso no importa mucho ya que no planeaba usarlo para eso.En general es una excelente compra por su facilidad de uso para la función principal y la calidad de los materiales. Todo lo demás es extra.

There are all kinds of knife sharpeners out there and I have few in my possession, but what I was looking for: a compact and easy to sharpen on the go, kind. And ‘SHARPAL’ had all my questions answered, this multitool does it all, very functional and effective at sharpening, a true camping multitool to have, in a pinch it can also start a fire. The fact it can sharpen hollow grind, flat grind, serrated edges and fish hooks is plus, plus, plus and plus. I will not leave on a camping trip without carrying this multitool, ever. Good show ‘SHARPAL’ -10/10.
