Works well
We had used 2 versions of August locks with mixed results. So, we replaced one of them with eufy. Installation was so easy with just the video . It came with a deadbolt, so didnât have to use the old one which had some problems. The lock opens and closes with much ease. This uses 8 AA batteries , unlike August which had an expensive battery that didnât last long. Hope the battery life on this one is good, it has a battery indicator in the app, so you can check it

New and improved
I have the older version of this lock I had for about a year and it works great. When I seen this new one come out at a discounted price I ordered it and installed it on one of my other doors and I like it even better than the previous model. So much quicker and responsive than the previous one. I do recommend this product.

HomeKit issues
HomeKit keeps saying the device is not responding. Have to remove batteries every week or so to get it to work again. Please fixMotor is weak and often times will say itâs jammed even if itâs not. Even if itâs slightly tight if youâre pushing on door itâll not lock or unlock

Matter Support with Homekit has been great!
So far so good, the lock is very similar to C220 form factor, the integration to Homekit went pretty flawless and is very responsive. Only fear is battery life which is why I got another one since my C220 wouldnât last a week with new batteries.

Smart connectivity made easy
This is a great looking lock that comes with eight Anker branded AA batteries (it uses all eight) as well as spare keys. Make sure you use the QR code to download the instructions as it is NOT an intuitive install. We had to remove the included “spacer” to get it to actually fit correctly and the plate that connects both sides came pre-installed upside down which confused things even more. Even the picture in the instructions show a slightly different lock, but the setup is the same. Once the confusion was clarified it was installed in minutes. If you have a round latch Eufy suggests you contact them to get a different faceplate (don’t know why they just don’t include it for the price.) One thing of note is that the battery compartment is not sealed nor secure. Anyone can just pull off the cover and remove the batteries. The battery compartment is also susceptible to liquid which gives concern in humid environments. As soon as the lock is powered on, every matter hub detects it. In this case it was an Echo show as well as the SmartThings app on a Samsung phone. When using matter it looks like advanced features such as the ability to share access and grant individual codes is not available. Firmware updates are also not available. We had to add the lock to the Eufy security app in-order to do both things which is disappointing, but not surprising coming from a Eufy product. The firmware update was estimated to be 18 minutes (which would be ridiculously slow,) but in actuality took less than five. Once the update was done, the lock was calibrated (it wouldn’t lock correctly before calibration) and we were good to go. It also has the ability to sync with Eufy cameras/doorbells so that they record each interaction with the lock (something that is typically a feature used by commercial businesses.) Configuring fingerprint access and codes was super easy. Autolock features several timings include custom ones. Another thing of note is that the “One tap lock” is actually a hold for 3 seconds because tapping does nothing. The lock for the most part is responsive although the extra effort of dragging the icon to lock/unlock in the app is annoying. When talking about security, ease of use as well as time spent on functions is crucial which is where this lock slacks. When you have to keep double checking whether or not a product is actually working correctly it’s a problem. Overall it is a decent residential lock. Commercial is a no go, especially since it lacks key card functionality. It might look good, but functionality wise it is a very basic lock. It touts matter for easy connectivity, but using matter seems to take away the very functions people bought the lock for. A better option in our mind is the video lock that Eufy also offers as it integrates camera functionality within the lock, removing the need for nearby security cameras or a separate doorbell cam.

Basically the C220 but with Matter
I had Level smart dead bolts and although they have their own unique thing (they install inside of any standard dead bolt so you can just buy whatever exterior suits your style), their software was rather lacking, especially when it came to integration with smart home hubs like Alexa. I recently got my hands on this eufy E30 smart lock and a eufy C220 smart lock as well. Spoiler alert: they’re both really excellent locks. In fact, the E30 is basically identical to the C220 except that it also features Matter support. That said, there are a few tiny differences. The first notable difference for me was that where the C220 included a paper installation guide, the E30 just tells you in the quick start guide to download the eufy app and go from there. During the process of adding the E30 smart lock through the app, you’ll be presented with the chance to watch an installation video when you get to the “install your lock” step. Luckily the instructions for the E30 are identical to the C220 and it’s really quite simple. I didn’t even bother to use the installation manual for either locks, it’s just THAT simple. The eufy E30 smart lock is drop dead gorgeous. I paired it with a Kwikset San Clemente matte black door handle and it’s *chef’s kiss*. The matte finish on the lock resists fingerprints, which is extra important on the touch screen keypad. Setup of the lock was a breeze and I’m impressed by how FAST unlocking via fingerprint really is. The app is really well made and feature-rich too. It offers quite a bit of secure functionality, like being able to auto-lock after a certain amount of time, and on a schedule. I really like that this lock has WiFi built-in and was super easy to integrate with Alexa. She can voice unlock provided you allow unlocking via Alexa app and setup a voice code. If you want to use Matter you’ll need a Thread border router. The eufy software doesn’t communicate Matter over WiFi, so kind of a bummer. Overall none of the fancy looks and bells and whistles would matter if the lock didn’t perform well, and at the end of the day I can say that the eufy E30 smart lock meets every expectation. Extra bonus points for providing 8x Anker brand AA batteries too!
