The series of wireless SoCs delivers performance, memory, and security for Bluetooth LE devices like wearables and medical sensors.

Silicon Labs has announced its new BG29 Series 2 wireless SoCs. Designed for ultra-compact Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) devices, the BG29 delivers high performance, robust connectivity, and extended memory—without compromising size or power.
Built for demanding Bluetooth LE applications such as wearable medical devices, asset trackers, and compact sensors, the BG29 is available in QFN and WLCSP packages. These form factors support even the smallest devices, including smart implants, glucose monitors, and disposable medical wearables.

Miniaturization is a key challenge in connected healthcare. The SoCs tackle this by combining long battery life, high processing power, and strong security in a compact form. It’s a solid fit for advanced medical devices like blood glucose monitors and heart rate sensors.
The BG29 family of SoCs comes with key features for a range of wireless devices. It has a compact footprint and is available in both WLCSP and QFN packages. The WLCSP package is suitable for battery-powered devices like insulin delivery patches, disposable glucose monitors (CGMs), and smart tooth implants. The QFN package is designed for devices like pulse oximeters, access control, industrial automation, and heart rate monitors.
The SoCs offer high memory and compute with low power consumption. It includes 1 MB of Flash memory and 256 kB of RAM, supporting advanced applications while minimizing power use. The large memory allows data tracking during smartphone disconnection. The BG29 supports Bluetooth LE for IoT devices such as medical devices, wearables, home sensors, and asset trackers.
The BG29 also includes an integrated DCDC boost and Coulomb counter. The DCDC boost allows for a wide voltage range, supporting alkaline, Silver-Oxide, and button cells while reducing form factor. The Coulomb counter provides accurate battery level monitoring to prevent battery depletion in medical devices and other wearables.
The BG29 offers security with Secure Vault High and Virtual Secure Engine. This security system protects against software and hardware attacks, providing encryption, key management, and authentication.
