The MPU with graphics and fast connectivity helps developers build interactive displays for industrial, medical, and automation applications more easily.

Embedded developers must balance compact design, energy efficiency, and high performance as applications become more advanced with increasing demands for graphics and connectivity. Microchip Technology has introduced the SAMA7D65 MPU series, based on the Arm Cortex-A7 core running up to 1 GHz, available in a System-in-Package (SiP) with 2 Gb DDR3L and a System-on-Chip (SoC). Designed for Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and connectivity applications, it features LVDS, MIPI DSI, and a 2D GPU, enabling efficient data transmission and graphics performance for industrial, medical, and transportation markets.
The series is designed for embedded developers, system architects, and product designers working on connectivity applications. It is suitable for professionals in industrial automation, medical devices, transportation systems, and building automation, where efficient graphics, real-time communication, and low-power operation are critical.

With dual Gigabit Ethernet and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) support, the MPU ensures precise synchronization and low-latency communication, making it suitable for real-time industrial and building automation HMIs. The SAMA7D65D2G SiP includes 2 Gb DDR3L memory, offering high-speed operation, reduced power consumption, and improved energy efficiency. SiPs simplify development by addressing high-speed memory interface challenges, accelerating design timelines, and reducing time to market.
The series is designed for applications with interactive touchscreen displays and complements Microchip’s existing SAMA7G54 1 GHz Arm Cortex-A7 MPU. Embedded developers can leverage Microchip Graphics Suite, a platform within MPLAB Harmony v3 and Linux software, to create advanced Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and other graphics applications. This solution enhances design reusability across projects and simplifies development by reducing complexity.
“Raising the bar for HMI applications, the SAMA7D65 series combines advanced graphics capabilities, low latency and connectivity with optimized power consumption for an energy-efficient design,” said Rod Drake, corporate vice president of Microchip’s high-performance MCU and MPU business units. “Its integrated DDR3L SiP variant, the SAMA7D65D2G, streamlines R&D efforts and minimizes logistical supply challenges, providing our customers with a seamless and efficient pathway from design to production.”
