Littelfuse, Inc. has launched the Pxxx0S3G-A SIDACtor Protection Thyristor Series, marking the industry’s first 2 kA thyristor in the compact DO-214AB (SMC) package. Designed to provide robust protection against overvoltage transients in demanding environments, this product enables engineers to achieve higher levels of miniaturisation without compromising on performance or compliance with industry standards.

The series is designed to provide reliable protection across a wide range of industries. In Automotive & Electric Vehicle Systems, it safeguards onboard chargers, BEV/PHEV battery charging systems, and EV wall chargers from damaging surge events. In Industrial & Factory Automation, the series protects power supplies and distribution grids in harsh operating environments, ensuring uninterrupted performance. For Renewable Energy Systems, it enhances the reliability of solar inverters and energy storage systems by protecting them from fluctuating power surges. In ICT, the series shields critical equipment within uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and high-power distribution grids, ensuring the continued operation of vital infrastructure.
Legacy solutions were often bulky and degraded over time, diminishing their effectiveness. They offer a more compact design with a 2 kA surge rating, taking up about 50% less PCB space compared to the Pxxx0FNL 3 kA SIDACtor series in the larger TO-262M package.The series is available in tape-and-reel quantities of 3,000 through authorized distributors.
