A new power factor correction module, designed specifically for drones and underwing applications, offers an 92% efficiency rating.
SynQor has unveiled its MPFICQor, a military-grade isolated power factor correction module tailored for the rigorous demands of airborne applications such as underwing pods and ordnance systems in aircraft and drones. Now available across Europe and globally through Astute Group, this module represents a significant advancement in power management solutions.
The MPFICQor delivers good performance, even at lower power levels, making it an optimal choice for size, weight, and power (SWaP)-critical applications. It supports both 3-Phase, 115 Vac and 270 Vdc inputs, enabling seamless interoperability across various systems. It has low total harmonic distortion (THD) at the AC input—just 1.5%. This minimizes electrical noise and ensures compliance with military standards such as MIL-STD-1399, crucial for reducing electromagnetic interference in sensitive airborne environments.
The mechanical features include
- Industry standard Full-brick-size
- Size: 2.486” x 4.686” x 0.512” (63.14 x 119.02 x 13.0 mm)
- Weight: 11.3 oz (320 g)
Incorporating advanced active power factor correction (PFC) technology, the MPFICQor achieves a near-unity power factor exceeding 0.99 at full load. This high-power factor optimizes system integration, enhances stability, and ensures reliable performance in mission-critical operations. Efficiency is at the heart of airborne applications, and the MPFICQor excels with an impressive 92% efficiency rating. This reduces heat generation, facilitates superior thermal management, and extends operational life, making it a practical solution for space-constrained platforms.
Designed in an industry-standard full-brick form factor, the MPFICQor aligns with stringent SWaP requirements. Its compact and lightweight construction is ideal for integration into modern aircraft and drone systems. It meets a broad range of military standards, including MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and RTCA/DO-160, ensuring robust performance in harsh airborne environments. SynQor’s emphasis on Mil-COTS converter compliance guarantees compatibility with demanding military system designs.
Combining high efficiency, low THD, near-unity power factor, and comprehensive military standard compliance, it is set to become a cornerstone in next-generation aircraft and drone power systems. It offers a reliable and robust solution for powering avionics, navigation, and other essential equipment in critical airborne operations.
