Customers say
Customers like the ease of installation, functionality, and value for money of the electronic switch. They mention it works well with Alexa, is a good product for a good price, and is one of the best pieces of tech you can buy. However, some customers have reported that the device becomes unresponsive after 3 months and doesn’t stay connected to the internet. Opinions are mixed on the design.

Dependable and easy to install
The switch was delivered on time and was simple to install. As per usual it took a couple of tries to get it to connect to Alexa. Once connected it has run flawlessly. I use this one to power a bench plug in light on one socket and have the other available to power various items.

Install, set up, then forget it
I have two Echo Dots. For about two years, I used my first Echo Dot, âAlexaâ, as little more than an alarm clock, timer, music player, etc. After buying my second Dot, âZiggyâ, I started setting up routines, and decided to set up a way to automatically turn my living room lamps on and off. For that, I needed an Alexa-enabled smart device, and bought the Amazon Basics smart in-wall outlet to control the lamps through Alexa. The installation instructions were clear, and the only âdifficultâ part was stuffing the new switch and wiring into the shallow outlet box in my older home. You will be hard-wiring the smart outlet.Figuring out how to set everything up with the Alexa app CAN be relatively easy at times, but using the app is NOT intuitive. For starters, youâll use the app to set everything up. In my case, I customized the names for each lamp and assigned them to the âliving roomâ. That lets me control each lamp by itself, or both at once. Over time, I recommend you take time to explore the app to see the kinds of things Alexa can do for you.Iâve been using the smart outlet for about 6 months now. From the very first day, the outlet has never given me any trouble. While I sometimes have to reset my Dots, on the other hand, once installed, I NEVER thought about the outlet again until I changed my Internet provider two weeks ago and had to change the WiFi setup for the smart outlet.Bottom line: The smart outlet was inexpensive, easy to install and set up. It has never had any connectivity issues. The outlet instantly responds to voice commands. I can recommend this outlet without hesitation.

Must read if you’re new to electrical
This smart outlet does it’s job really well! It integrated with my Alexa almost immediately and Alexa even asked to pair with this “new device” once it was installed and powered. But as someone who has done a fair bit of electrical work in their house, the connections in the back are a bit difficult to tighten down. Wires do not attach via J-hooks around a terminal screw, or “push-in” ports on the back; it looks like a “push-in” port on the back but you have to wedge the screw on the inner side of each hole and then tighten down each side. It’s not terribly difficult but not as easy as other outlet installations. Other than that though, it is a great outlet and would definitely recommend, just be aware of this difficulty if you’re not already familiar with these DIY projects

Works well
I bought this smart in-wall outlet to replace my second z-wave outdoor switch that had failed. Installed this in the weather proof box outside for my cafe lights. Set up was simple since it was already in the Alexa app and set automations to be controlled with the rest of my outdoor lights. Happy with this purchase but not sure of longevity in an outdoor application, will update if it doesnât last.

I love this outlet..easy to install, use, and no other apps needed!!
I have this installed in a weather proof box by my pool pump and use it to control the light in the pool by vice commands or Alexa programming.IT SHOULD BE EMPHASIZED that there are two individually Alexa devices in one outlet…you can control two separate items with there own routines…like have two outlets. In my case I will use the other for control of yard lights.IT ALSO HAS a button under each outlet to turn it on and off manually. After wiring it up I connected power and my phone got a prompt to connect the device and that was it!It has a higher price but you are connected directly to the Alexa network with this device no need for other apps to be installed like with most lower priced outlets, light bulbs, etc which are found in abundance on Amazon. It is big and fills the outlet box so be warned it will not fit in a wall box that is full of wiring unless you have a deep box. It does have terminal access from the sides which helps.

Works Great, Easy to Install and Setup
This literal worked as soon as I installed it. Alexa recognized it immediately and helped me name it. It was very easy to install and I didn’t have to worry about networks or anything because Alexa made it a smooth process!

So easy to install set up. Works perfectly
Installation was as simple as it gets. Black wire (load) goes to the black screw labeled load, white wire (neutral) goes to the silver screw labeled neutral, and the bare wire (ground) goes to the green screw. If you have two black wires connecting your current plug, look deeper in the box to see if there is a white (neutral) wire available. If not, you can’t use this plug – or any other smart plug that I have installed. The whole process took just a couple of minutes.Setup was just as easy. I opened the Alexa app, went to devices and picked add a new device. There is an Amazon Basics Plug selection and I picked that, scanned the QR code right on the instructions and the plug was added. No network fiddling required. I then renamed the top and bottom plugs and Alexa was immediately ready for voice control.Operation is a breeze. Alexa will control the top and bottom plugs independently and they each will have their own Alexa name. You can set up routines and timers to control the operation. I also like the manual on/off buttons for the individual receptacles. The ease of installation, setup and control make this bargain priced plug a winner.
