Aqara Cube T1 Pro, REQUIRES AQARA ZIGBEE 3.0 HUB, 6 Sides to Control Different Scenes and Diverse Actions to Control Smart Home Devices, Supports Homekit, Alexa and IFTTT

At first, great cubes.
First, I wish they had grey and black. The white gets dirty too quickly, well, looks dirty. Actually, it would be great if they made many colors (red, yellow, pink, brown, black, grey, bright white, green, orange, lavender, etc.).Second, once you move them around enough, they start getting disconnected and stop responding. I’ve replaced the battery, reset them, and they are within ten feet of the Zigbee coordinator. I am using Home Assistant with Zigbee2MQTT. It appears as if the battery is not staying connected. Sometimes when I reset the battery, it works for a bit then stops working. I do not know if it is the battery not being secured or if it is a connection issue.This only happens on one cube. The other cube works fine. I just have two. I really like these things and would buy more. I hope for more color choices, better security of battery, and more stable connectivity.UPDATE 2023-05-24: Aqara immediately contacted me. They were very responsive with constant replies. I appreciate this. Eventually they offered a refund, and I declined it. I will keep the two cubes as they are. As far as the Aqara door sensors and buttons are concerned, they are awesome, and have not had an issue with them at all. I like the door sensors and buttons better than other competitors. I said to them, instead of refund, how about future Cube Pro 3 with assorted color choices. I would definitely buy those. Aqara customer service is high bar. I increased my score from two stars to five stars just for the customer service I received.

I wanted to love this so badly
Ive had the cube for about 2-3 weeks maybe and it has been a fun and useful device….until it stopped working randomly. I know it was powered on because I removed the cover and could see the light when I push the button but it would not connect back to my zigbee network. I had to completely reset it and set it back up just to get it to work again. I dont know if I will keep the device. Probably just return it because I dont want something that I have to re-setup every few days.

There is a reason why Amazon says “Frequently returned item”
Mine is going back for a refund. About one in twenty actions seem to get noticed. If I want to set it to “side two” I have to turn it so “2” is up then drop the cude and tap it, turn it over, and tap again and MAYBE something will happen. I’m 3 feet from the Zigbee hub and I have a dozen other Zigbee devices that work just fine. I doubt the cube is actualy broken or that it failed to pair as it does seem to work, sometimes for several minutes. Then it seems to go to sleep and might take 20+ minutes to an hour to wake up.Sometimes if I open it up and press the link button it gets noticed and works one or two times.It is like “rolling the dice”. Just a matter of luck if it works.Too bad the cube is such a nice idea and well made and even looks nice but the internal firmware is extremely poor.

Homekit compatible, but not optimal
I ordered this to try the nifty motion features of the original cube with my HomeKit system. Except it turns out that while it is compatible, the only functions you get in HomeKit are… 6 “switches” that are defined by which face of the cube is pointing upward.Let me explain: if you put the cube down with the Aqara logo facing upward, that can only do ONE function in HomeKit. If you put the cube down with side #2 facing upward, that can only do ONE function in HomeKit… and so on. So let’s say you want to use the cube as a light switch; to do this, one face would have to be set to turn the light on, and another face has to be set to turn the light off.What about rotating? What about push? Those only work if you set the cube up in the Aqara app. The problem with this is that you can’t attach any of the cube’s advanced functions to anything unless it’s an Aqara switch, plug, etc. You can’t bind a non-Aqara function to the cube from within the Aqara app.So unless your entire smart home ecosystem is Aqara brand only, don’t expect to be able to use the cube’s cool functions with your other smart home stuff. It has a very limited function when used natively through the Apple Home app.

Der Hexaeder ist ein echter Game-Changer in meiner Smart-Home-Welt! Ich bin echt begeistert von den Möglichkeiten und der stabilen Verarbeitung des Geräts. Die Installation ist simpel, und man kann den Würfel super auf seine Bedürfnisse anpassen. Caesar hätte sich sicher auch gern so ein dreidimensionales Polyeder geschnappt, wenn er sein Zuhause smarter machen wollte.Personalisierung & Funktionen:Der Clou: Jeder der 6 Seiten lässt sich mit einer Aktion belegen, also perfekt für kreative Smart-Home-Lösungen. Ich hab zum Beispiel eine “Sleep Mode”-Funktion eingebaut – Schüttel ich den Würfel dann wird nach einer Stunde alles im Smart Home abgeschaltet. Licht. Musik. Und damit das nicht versehentlich ausgelöst wird, nutze ich ein cleveres System mit einem Input Boolean, um den Würfel aktiv zu erkennen, bevor irgendeine Aktion gestartet wird. – Der Kreativitität sind keine Grenzen gesetzt. Die freie Programmierbarkeit ist das, was den Würfel so unfassbar stark macht. In der App sieht man mit den Seiten, was ich wo programmiere – sehr convenient.Das Ding ist echt flexibel – von Musiksteuerung über Dashboard-Anzeigen bis zur Überwachungskamera! Meine Lieblings-Features: Auf Seite 1 startet ein Doppeltipp meine Musik-App, die andere startet dann unsere die Lieblingsplaylist. Mit anderen kann ich Feuchtigkeitswerte alle Kameras auf dem TV im Blick bekommen. Das Ganze geht einfach super schnell und smooth.Steuerung & KomfortDer Würfel ist außerdem gut durchdacht: Kein Wackeln, kein Ruckeln – top Qualität. Die Verarbeitung ist gut. Keine Grate. Hohe Qualität aber nicht so massiv. Einfach, intuitiv und einfach mega komfortabel.Vorteile & Verbesserungspotenzial+Sehr gute Verarbeitung und stabiler Aufbau+Schnelle Reaktion, keine Verzögerung+Leicht zu individualisieren für Smart-Home-Prozesse+Verschiedene Bewegungsoptionen wie Schütteln und Drehen– Kleinere Verbesserungen für die HomeKit-Integration wären nett – Erweiterung der Funktionen innerhalb der Aqara-App wäre wünschenswert. Hier so bei Apple doch einige Einschränkungen. Meine Empfehlung – Nutzt normale gute Android-Betriebssysteme und dann geht alles. Keine Selbsteinschränkung!Fazit Der Würfel hat echt riesiges Potenzial, und das Beste: Er ist voll individualisierbar! Der Hexaeder“wird dem Smart Home ordentlich auf die Sprünge helfen. Und obwohl die HomeKit-Integration noch ein paar Verbesserungen gebrauchen könnte, bin ich insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Ein Muss für alle, die mehr aus ihrem Smart Home herausholen wollen.
