Best Smart Lock Experience So Far
This lock is the best smart lock I have used to date. I also have the U200 for a retrofit, which is also very nice, but this lock installed super easily, feels really sturdy, and has worked flawlessly since I installed it. It connects with Apple Home without needing an Aqara hub (an Apple TV or a HomePod are required to be hubs for Apple Home though). The HomeKey feature is an absolute game changer for my family. If you don’t mind replacing the lock on the inside and outside of your house, then I would highly recommend this product.

Great for backdoor and works well with Home Assistant
Install was a breeze, including steup for pins and users. Was able to integrate into home assistant via homekit using auto discovery, which is great considering we have no apple devices in our home.Performance is quick and haven’t lost connection with home assistant. There is a slight lag when locking through automation but maybe a few seconds at most. Fairly good quality, seems sturdy and well made, also a very nice price point at about $50 below the U100 and only losing the finger print scanner.

The lock amazing, the app is meh
It works with homekit really easily. Actually the app gave a lot more headaches. If something fails during setup, the app get super confused and doesn’t recognized the lock. You then have to fully reset the lock to get it working. So the software is mediocre, the features are OK, but the lock itself is amazing. Good quality, attractive (at least in my eyes), and operates reliably with my iPhone and Apple Watch. It is a bit slow but nothing onerous.Highly recommend it.

Aqara Smart Lock U50 a GREAT Product for Apple HomeKit
The first thing that I noticed was the weight of the item before installing it, that told me that is was built well and heavy duty and durable. The second thing was how easy was to install, you can’t go wrong if you follow their install instructions. The third thing is the Aqara Smart Lock U50 is a great product to use with Apple HomeKit. This Smart Lock is being used in my The Cowboy ð¤ Shed walk-in door which is 120 feet away from the house. I no longer have to carry a key to unlock the walk-in door, now I just hold my Apple Watch next to the lock and in two seconds the lock automatically unlocks. If I am in the house and forgot to lock The Cowboy ð¤ Shed walk-in door I just open the Apple iPhone Control Center and tap the icon to lock the door. It is that simple and it works GREAT. As I said this Smart Lock works great with Apple HomeKit for me.Thanks Aqara for making a good product that I can rely on!

Junk
Initial setup was easy and thatâs the only positive I can say. Both locks I bought got a âlock detection failedâ error during setup even though lock worked perfectly. Tried several fixes without a solution. Biggest issue is that customer service is non existent. Highly recommend going with a different lock.

Easy to install via HomeKit
Installed via HomeKit and it worked perfectly from the jump. Express keys make unlocking a breeze and adding family members to it was no problem at all. Only issue was unlocking using the keypad. Had to download Aqara app and make a password that way to use the keypad because HomeKit keypad passwords would not work. Not a big an issue but had to discover on my own as the customer service website for Aqara is ass.

F!@#! So much hope, so much disappointment.
I’d like to preface this with an establishment of fact: I would keep this item if this was resolved. This is by far the best looking and best feeling deadbolt that I have tried so far. I have tried four, this being my fourth.I tried my best to work through the issues I have had with getting this item to work consistently as it is by far one of the better-designed and -constructed devices, yet time and time again I am presented with issues of the device not recognizing my iPhone or Apple Watch with two arms full of groceries or late at night when I am trying to get into my house quickly.I also have issues with the device consistently not locking despite clear and confirmed setting choices that are enabled for the two conditions outlined as follows: (1) to auto-lock after 3 minutes of inactivity if I close the door without locking the deadbolt; (2) to auto-lock by a certain time in the evening if the deadbolt is unlocked after hours of being unlocked, or by 10:30 PM if unlocked. It is rather unsettling waking up and seeing your door was unlocked all night in not just one instance, but multiple instances.. every week. Furthermore, there are issues with the device and HomeKit staying aligned with regard to real-time status of the deadbolt despite having . Just this past week there were multiple days where I came home from work during lunch or after leaving the office for the day and being flabbergasted that I was able to open my door as the Aqara deadbolt was unlocked DESPITE HomeKit saying otherwise in the Home app.  I am so done with this device. I really wanted to give it one star, but the heft of the device itself, the sleek black design and construction of the deadbolt and keypad unit, no plastic gimmicky material.. it’s so beautifully designed. It really pains me that either Aqara or Apple â I’m not really sure who’s to blame here since I’m not a software engineer nor do I have access to any logs that might help me see where the issue is â aren’t able to resolve whatever issue is occurring that keeps the deadbolt from doing what it is literally designed and coded to do. This is so indicative of the larger issue at hand with most, if not all, IoT home devices that I believe further fuels our collective rage against technology despite it clearly being the way of the our present and future will be built.I JUST WANT THE THING TO DO THE THING THAT IT ASKED ME IF I WANTED IT TO DO WHEN I SET UP THE DANG THING.

A good basic smart lock
Installation was OKSetting it up with HomeKit was a breeze, but setting Up with its app Is horrible it wouldnât connect to the smart lock. It would enter the passcode but it wouldnât let you press enter so it would time out within 30 seconds and cancel the process.also This device is connected to your Network and Is the lock to get into your most valuable asset your home So with that said, I would stay away from their app which is developed by a Chinese company and China has no respect for anybodyâs privacy or security. Neither does Google Amazon, Apple etc But they kind of pretend.Iâm just saying.

I’ve had it for a little over a month. Works like a charms. Works every time. This is my first ever smart lock. I had no issues with the installation. Set it up on bluetooth on the Aqara App and used it on keypad/ bluetooth mode until my big move and internet service transfer. Once my WiFi was setup, added it to Apple HomeKit. Worked from the very first time. No hub needed for HomeKit use. Best part is that I can keep an eye on the door lock/unlock status even when at work. Whole family loves it. Best purchase ever.

Auto lock when the door closes is unreliable. A third of the time doesnât lock so have to be always on the lookout if door lock is triggered or not. Other than that itâs been good.

First impression? This thing’s got more tech crammed into it than a spaceship. Itâs got keyless entry, Apple Home Key, Bluetooth, and even works with Alexa and Google Home. Basically, if you have a smart home ecosystem, this lock’s like, “Sure, I can work with that.”The Good:Keyless Entry: No more fumbling with keys like a caveman. Just use your phone or the keypad. It’s like I’m in a sci-fi movie every time I come home.Multiple Entry Options: You can unlock it with your phone, Apple Watch, or even set up multiple codes for different people. Got in-laws visiting? Give them their own code and revoke it when they leave. Genius.Integration: Works with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Alexa, and IFTTT. You can even set it up to unlock when your kid gets home from school. Itâs like having a personal doorman.Security: This lock is no joke. Meets BMHA Grade 3 standards, which is solid for home use. Plus, you can rekey it if needed, so youâre not stuck if something goes wrong.Easy Installation: Comes with all the parts and screws you’ll need. Just follow the QR code instructions and you’re golden. The Bad:Bulky Design: This thing is a beast. It’s like strapping a mini safe to your door. Not the most elegant, but hey, itâs a smart lock, not a fashion statement.Hub Required: If you want to integrate it with HomeKit or Google Home, you need a hub. More gadgets, more money. They get you every time with this stuff.Battery Life: Runs on four AA batteries. While they claim it lasts long, if you live in a place with harsh winters, you might be swapping batteries more often than youâd like. At least there’s a USB-C port for emergency power.Overall, the Aqara Smart Lock U50 is a solid choice if youâre looking to upgrade your home security without breaking the bank. Itâs got a few quirks, like needing a hub for full functionality and its less-than-sleek design, but the convenience and peace of mind it offers are worth it. Iâm giving it 4 out of 5 stars because, letâs face it, nothingâs perfect, but this comes pretty close for the price.

Been using this lock for more than a week. Homekey is very reliable with iPhone 12, 15 and Apple Watch SE. Installation is fairly straight forward. Build quality is very solid. I wish the battery door is easier to open – it need a pry tool and I am sure I will misplace the tool.App has a Homekit standalone mode which allows setting up the lock without an Aqara account. It pairs the lock with Homekit no problem. However, firmware update kept failing in this mode. I had to create an Aqara account to use the full feature of the app, then I was able to update firmware successfully. My HomePod mini is pretty far away from the lock at the back of the house, so querying lock status or unlocking from Home app take a few seconds. This is expected. I am actually surprised that it works over this long distance.

After spending $200, and 2 hours chiselling my door to get the strike plate to fit, I put in the batteries, hit the reset button, get the voice prompt and then try adding the lock to the Aqara app. (I currently have other Aqara devices working without any issues and an M2 hub). The installation (add device) feature in the app asks that I “Go to Enable” Bluetooth. Well, Bluetooth is already on. The lock does not appear in discovery and then app just gives up. Oh….but the instruction manual does say that the connection procedure may change due to updates……how helpful! Update – finally got it added to the Aqara app….but it will not work with Alexa. It unlocks with Alexa, but will not lock. I finally gave up. Support has been useless. I got a refund and bought another smart lock from another brands. Installed in 15 minutes, works with Alexa.
