‘A myth-busting tour of all things Black skin.’ ELLE magazine
Dija Ayodele takes you through the lifetime of skin, sharing transformative essentials from how to work out your skin type to the dos and don’ts for your everyday routine. She explains the best ingredients for your skin and your budget, and the issues that Black women face: hyperpigmentation, general skin discolouration and increased dryness.
Dija examines the concept of identity, looking at the way history has shaped how Black women express themselves in beauty and skincare, and debunks common myths and misconceptions: do darker skin tones need SPF? And is there any truth to the saying ‘Black don’t crack?’
Intelligent, informed and indispensable, this is the guide that every Black woman has been waiting for.

Bought this as a birthday gift for my friend who is an aspiring dermatologist and I know she’s gonna love it! It covers so many different aspects of Black skin, from history to identifying and unpacking skin issues. Very thorough read and beautifully designed both inside and out. Great work to the authoress!

Black God Science
Black skin is Godâs gift to humanity, and primary reason humanity exist. Without melanin, humanity would not have made it out of Africa. WeBlack People should be reminded every time they see black skin, that it is part of the story of humanity, and the Creator wanted our skin to be black. Our skin is part of the Black God Science, since we were created in Godâs image. This book provides valuable information about taking care of our gift from the Creator and how skin is a part of our temple and is an incredible organ, so we need to take care of it.

Amazing book! Very beginner friendly and easy to understand. Only con is the way the book was made the pages are constantly flipping over making it hard to read and hold the page at the same time.Otherwise I definitely recommend !

Top notch book with very useful information for all demographics.I am a man and the tips in Chapter 9 blew my mind. As I have hadin grown hair issues but this gives a very important tips to avoid in grown hairs. In addition it does give the useful information for kids skin care too and not justwomen. I especially like the explanation on p34 about the importance of collagen togood skin, I have since then started taking collagen supplements and my skin is nowmore supple and nice with a better glow! This book is a rare gem in terms of information, graphics, print quality and overall packing, I am extremely happy that we have an authorthat is an authority in the space that knows their stuff in detail and breaks it downin a simple manner that the layman can understand and apply the information containedtherein with ease. World class book and finally black excellence.A big thank you Dija to you and your team God bless 🙂

It arrived water damaged with multiple pages stuck together. It looks old and used even though I bought it brand new.

Iâve had an in-clinic skin consultation with Dija so when I heard of the book, I had to pre-order the book. I was not disappointed. This book is a manual, cutting through the clutter and misinformation on the internet about skin care (routines and products). It is like having a very comprehensive skin consultation with her in person and if you forget something you can always refer to the book. The pictures included bring the topics to life and I appreciate the product recommendations, some of which she recommended to me and I have been using daily for 2 years, which have improved my skin health. While the book is aimed at providing people of Black descent and heritage (who have been overlooked for yearssss by the beauty industry), the information is very valid and useful for all skin types.
