Non-biased, Clarity!
As a 5 month pregnant mom with my first baby, I’m determined to raise it on our tight budget ! Of course I choose to cloth diaper…but WOAH it’s not the cloth squares my Mom put on me with pins as a kid!! It’s OVERWHELMING! of course, you can still cloth diaper the way my Mom did if you like — but this book gives a simple, easy-to-read layout of all your choices in today’s world, how to wash them, what the financial benefits are, etc. I especially like the section on cloth-diapering VOCABULARY bc if you simply search “cloth-diapers” online (i do not recommend this) , 100 sites come up with words like chinese pre-fold and fitteds and AIO – which I had never heard of. I started to veer away from cloth diapering bc it seemed too overwhelming – how do you choose, there are like 10 different cloth diaper styles and 50 different brands!? this book calmed me down, i read almost the whole thing in 2 days and happily was able to make decisions about which cloth diapers I would put on my registry. I put 3-6 of three different styles/brands on there — you really have to see what works for YOU and YOUR BABY. Also – check out […] – they offer a 30 day return even after you have tried/washed any of their brands. They carry very-budget-friendly up to the most popular name brands. Have fun!! (and once you figure out what works for you – totally go to Craigslist or buy the “used” ones from diaperjunction 🙂 I mean, the thing will catch poop and pee — you don’t need brand new!

Great resource to get you in on the cloth diapering scene
This book is great! It pooled a lot of knowledge into one, convenient place. I wish I’d found it a little sooner. It would have saved me hours (literally) of slogging through websites, and dozens of thoughts such as, “What the heck does AIO mean?” and, “What is a doubler, and why do I need one?”So if you’re tired of all of the confusing abbreviations, pick this book up! Like I said, I had actually learned most things in the book, because I had spent hours already researching this, but it will be so nice to just pull it off the shelf when I forget something…The only down side… There were a couple of statements in the book that were based on “common sense” rather than scientific research. While I understand this, if there isn’t yet scientific evidence to back up a claim, I have a hard time with it being published. That’s just personal.I did appreciate the non-judgmental attitude of the book. There is plenty of dogmatism to go around when you’re talking about cloth diapers, (most of us will have to use disposables at least a few times. I don’t want to be guilt-tripped about it.) but it’s really minimal in this book, and a great read for anyone wanting the scoop on the cloth diapering thing.

Highly recommended for those new to cloth diapering!
This book truly is written for those who are interested in learning about cloth diapering or are just getting getting started. Using modern cloth diapers isn’t difficult, but there are plenty of things that one needs to learn in order to choose the type of diaper that will best suit their needs and how to care for those diapering. Kelly Wels provides the reader with nice, concise information about the benefits of cloth diapering, the types of diapers available, the pro’s and con’s/strengths and weaknesses of each type, how to properly care for your diapers, and just overall advice, useful information (esp. cloth diapering lingo), and trouble shooting. As I said, this book is mainly geared toward those just beginning or preparing to use cloth diapers. By the time I read this book we had already been using cloth diapers for well over a year, and we already have diapers and a routine in place that works for us. However, I’m glad that I read the book because it helps me to be better versed in the types of diapers and cloth diapering routines that we don’t currently use ourselves, so I am better able to help others who have cloth diapering questions. I also feel confident recommending this book to friends who are curious about cloth diapering, or intend to use them. This would have been very helpful to me a few years ago when I was pregnant, interested in cloth diapers, and knew nothing of modern cloth diapering or where to get easy to understand information.

Very helpful
Brief, but very good at helping to decode all the options. I donât particularly care for the stereotyping of a husbandâs role, but so many books for new moms do that so I guess I have to get used to it. Itâs not often enough in this book to keep you from reading it for the useful info. They say at the beginning that the book is for dads too and to swap out dad anytime you see mom, but then they label certain diapers as âdaddy and daycare friendlyâ like a dad would turn up his nose at the messier points of diapering. (Maybe it is the other way âround in some families!)

Great Resource
This book was an EASY read and gave me all the basics and info I need on cloth diapering! I highlighted all things I thought were important on my Kindle for easy reference. I am totally following the advice on this book. I feel that when this baby is here in about 3mos, her mom will handle the cloth diapering very well. There were even diagrams on how to put on all the different kinds of diapers there are. Some of the info seemed repetitive, but I didn’t mind since I’m totally new to cloth diapering. I see this as an upcoming fun hobby. Too many cute diapers to choose from and I’ve already bought a few different kinds along with necessary accessories such as a hanging diaper pail (finding everything on Amazon). I’m hoping this really works for me and baby, and am pretty confident it will with this guide!

It convinced me to start using cloth diapers. It’s well detailed. There is explanations on the different types of cloth diapers available on the market and on how to wash them. It definitely removed all the fears I had about this product.

I wish I had started with this book, it would have saved me countless hours I spent trying to understand the basics and the INS and outs of the new world of cloth diapering!Everything you need to decide if it’s right for you, all of your options, and the kicker – getting dad on board! Really easy to understand, very conversational… Broken into easily digestable segments. Cannot recommend this book enough!

Book was interesting and informative. Easy and fun to read. I will be sharing it with my husband and my mom, and anyone else who may be considering cloth diapering for the first time.
