The next time you’re enjoying the outdoors, take one of the brightest lanterns available—a Coleman NorthStar propane lantern. It lights easily without matches. Just push the InstaStart ignition. The lantern is designed for just the right light. Turn it up to its highest—1540 lumens—or dim it as low as you need it. Careful construction also allows you to take this lantern with you in any weather. Thanks to the Perfectflow system, your lantern receives consistent fuel, no matter the conditions or fuel level. Protecting the light, a high-temperature globe, metal guard and durable porcelain ventilator offer quality that will have you lighting this outdoor companion season after season. A folding base offers stability when the lantern is in use and low-profile storage when it’s not. One 16.4-oz. propane cylinder will power the lantern for up to 4.3 hours on high and 9.25 hours on low. Insta-Clip tube mantles are our easiest to install.

    Nice Bright Lantern
I use them when I go night fishing. They’re nice and bright and gives off a good amount of heat for warmth. Don’t leave home with out them. Also good for safety on the water. If you ever loose power. You have nice bright light to work with.

    The best lantern.
This is my second one. It’s a bright lantern with that being said it does use a lot of propane on a high setting. It’ll light up the entire camp site.

    Very special
Use coleman 95 mantles. The off brand does not burn as brite as expected. Very worth it if you know how to refill 1 pound propane tanks. I use refilled tanks on personal property and don’t transport. The lamp burns for 3.5- 4 hours on high. Two lanterns will light up an outdoor work space to daylight. Two benzomatic camping tanks refilled 15 times from parent 20 lb tank and get replaced. You can get them half price if used. Two and half cinderblocks for as elevated stands lower shadows. Space 20-25 ft apart. Superbly bright. Very happy.Cons: globe made in china.

    A very bright lantern
The lantern is well made and very bright. The new designed mantles are easy to install and really amplify the light.

The bottom of propane tanks does not stay in the base
Easily would be “5 Star”if the base stand did not keep falling off when the lantern is lifted by the handle. I had to give 4 Star on account of that. Lights well ,burns bright.

Always be careful of the globe. They can break. So, buy the carrying case!
I like the overall quality and the 1500 lumins of light. For extended use(many hours) I recommend buying a larger propane tank and required hose(5′ or longer). A three gallon tank (which is a smaller one) will weigh about 10-15 pounds full and will last for many hours, even if you simultaneously run a propane camp stove with it–this latter use requires a distributor (also called a tree) and another hose. All pretty simple to use. Read all the safety regulations that come with this gear, especially as regards use in an enclosed environment!

finally got the lantern I’ve wanted
I’ve wanted one of these for years, not sure why i waited. Totally worth the price and much nicer than other propane bottle lanterns.

Covers all your needs as a stationary lantern. You can hang it somewhere on the campsite and it will lit the entire place. Case is desired, though the price difference is ridiculous. Extra $50 for the case?

These gas lanterns are becoming increasingly rare. They’re an excellent product, and well worth the effort.
