    will never buy something diffrent
The Fire Starter Survival Tool is an absolute game-changer for anyone who loves spending time in the great outdoors. As an avid camper and hiker, I’ve tried my fair share of fire-starting methods, but this all-in-one flint and steel fire starter kit is hands down the most reliable and convenient option I’ve come across. What impresses me most about this tool is its simplicity and effectiveness. With just a few strikes of the ferro rod against the included steel scraper, I can produce a shower of sparks that easily ignite tinder and kindling, even in challenging conditions like wind or rain. Whether I’m camping in the backcountry or enjoying a weekend getaway in the wilderness, I can always count on this fire starter to quickly and effortlessly create a warm and comforting campfire.Another highlight of this fire starter is its durability and portability. The compact size and lightweight design make it easy to carry in my backpack or pocket, ensuring that I always have a reliable means of starting a fire wherever I go. The robust construction of the ferro rod and scraper inspires confidence, knowing that this tool can withstand the rigors of outdoor use without fail.

    pretty cool fire starter
I purchased the smaller version of this fire starter. I needed something to keep in my camping gear. I love the wick system as it means you always have tinder to start your fire. This was the reason i purchased this particular fire starter. The instructions say it has a serrated edge to help fray the wick but mine was completely smooth. Both photos on amazon as well as the included instructions both say it has the serrated edge but it does not. I had to fray out the wick by hand (which wouldn’t be hard if it weren’t covered in the wax.). Once you get the wick started it is definitely wind proof. I had my two boys try their hardest to blow out the flame and they couldn’t. Before being able to throw sparks, you have to get the black glossy paint removed from the ferro rod. sparks are easy to make with this but it takes some practice to aim them right at the wick. This is a very cool product, I do think it is over-priced for what it is (especially for its small size) other than those coupe of things it is a great fire starter.

    Super easy to use
I really like this fire starter as it’s super easy to use. Once you scrape if the outer coating the rod produces a lot of Sparta to catch the tinder on fire. I’ve put one of these in my big out bag as well as each of my vehicles. In each box there was an offer for a free replacement tinder rope. It was easy to get the freebie! These work well and are good to have.

    Works every time!!
Don’t forget to pull out some wick/rope and fray the heck out of the end of it.You need to separate the fibers enough that the spark will catch the rope on fire. If you don’t do this you’ll wear your wrist out and never get a flame but get plenty frustrated.Pull out the rope out about 4 inchesUse the striker to rub the top inch or so of rope until it is fairly frayed.Pull the rope back until the frayed part only is exposed..Hold the striker perpendicular to the rod and, holding downward pressure, strike forward toward the frayed rope.Note- the rod come coated with some kind of black plastic coating so you have to scrape it off with several strikes before you try and do the fire thing. It will be shiny when it’s ready to make fire.It usually lights within 3-4 strikes. When you’re ready to extinguish the flame simply pull the rope back inside the tool. It’s really easy to use if you don’t have only 2 brain cells and they’re both competing for third place.

    Sparks Gallore!!!
I’ve had them all and this thing is awesome so far. A PROPER STRIKER for once and sparks are big. The striker is AWESOME!!! FinallyIf your hands ever get cold and stiff or wearing gloves this stricker wins. 6” bit heavy but will try out the 4” for sure. I’ve tried most strikers out there including FireSteel Gobbspark striker and this one wins.Time will tell for longevity.

This a really cool tool. Highly recommend for individuals starting out with using ferro rods for learning to start campfires. I like the option of the twine that’s incorporated in the design. Kind of all in one tool which gives multiple options for starting a fire. The impregnated twine lights easily and is good for starting stubborn damp tinder’s.

This item is extremely well built and easy to use. It is a real child’s play to use it. Over the years I bought many ferrocerium fire started rods. Some better than others. This one beats them all. I always have it with me when I go in the wilderness for camping, or just recreational activities. You never know when you will get stranded nowhere for some unforeseen reason. With this item in your pack, getting a fire started to keep you warm or boil water and cook food won’t be a problem. It is also a great gift idea for your friends and family who are the outdoor kind of people.

When things are life threating and your motor skills are low because hyperthermia has set in this is the tool to light your fire. Large and easy for your hands to operate. If you fall through a ice covered beaver pond in sub zero like I did you will not mind the weight. It is heavy and large but this is good in a very serious life threatening situation. Your hands do not work like normal when our life threatening enemy The Cold is your companion. Small firestarters are fine in weather above 0 but when push comes to shove then this is the tool to use to light a fire to stay alive. By the way money does not burn well use birch bark. Good Luck…
