Excellent mini wifi camera!
This little camera is brilliant. It’s small enough to mount just about anywhere, the quality of the high definition 2K video is what really surprised me the most. It works well in daytime and has night vision for night time. My wife and I use it in our home and it’s such a great piece of mind. It immediately hooked up to our 2.4Ghz wifi and the app made it so easy to check on our home from anywhere there’s an internet connection. Highly recommend!

Wonderful little camera!
The WiFi Camera 2K by Galayou is a great option if you need an easy way to keep an eye on your home (or kitty in my case). It has clear 2K video quality and works well both during the day and at night, so you can see everything, even up to 33 feet away. The camera can actually even send alerts to your phone when it detects motion. You can talk and listen through the camera using the app, which is handy if you want to check in or scare off someone unexpected or scare your spouse lol. It records continuously to an SD card (up to 128GB) or the cloud, and there’s no extra fee for using the SD card for 24/7 recording. It also works with Alexa and Google Home so you can control it with your voice. The only downside is that it only works with 2.4GHz WiFi which isnât a big deal for me but something to keep in mind. Overall it’s a simple and reliable camera for home security. Itâs really compact too! I tried to capture the size of it in my photos. But donât let the small size deter you as itâs really a great camera!

Good camera
I bought this camera so I could check in on my kittens while I was out. The product was easy to set up and had a clear picture. After about a month or so the device wouldnât connect to my WiFi anymore. After contacting their customer support and working through their troubleshooting steps it still wouldnât work. So they sent me a new device which has been working well so far! It has connection issues every now and then, meaning the live footage is very slow and doesnât always record the motion detections but it may just be my WiFi since itâs not the greatest. All in all itâs a good device for a low expense.

This little camera is totally awsome.
The camera is very good quality and is small enough to fit in most spaces. The first picture is of the view on my nvr. The second is a screenshot through the app. The rest are of the many settings you may choose from. I have this set up in a temporary spot in my kitchen until the remodel is done. It is keeping an eye on the rear door. I love that not only do I get notifications through the app and online storage can be purchased, but I am able to also record locally with onvif or rstp.It needs to have access to a plug as it is a USB C powered camera, it has no battery. It is definitely one of the easier cameras to set up. It does have motion detection and you can adjust the sensitivity as well as create privacy screens or even turn off the camera within the app. The pictures are clear and bright. All in all this one comes highly reccomended.

Overall a nice camera but with one major defect.————-Had a somewhat lengthy conversation with customer service and let’s just say it was not very helpful. They wanted to blame MY network for the problem and not their product. A device should never stop asking for an IP address on a network till it gets one. My server takes around 7 minutes to boot, so for that 7 minutes DHCP services are down. It’s simply inexcusable that a device would only sent requests for so long then just stop. At a bare minimum it should reboot and then try again. Here is part of the conversation I had with them.————————From: MeDate: 2023-05-23 10:30To: MargieSubject: Re: Urgent, need your reply-Message about your camera-CeliaThe issue I have is really in two parts. First, the device seems to only try to obtain an IP address for a short time after booting up. My network is run by a slower 12th gen(~2013) Dell Poweredge so it can take up to 7 minutes for the DHCP server to be up and running after a power outage. So the cameras appear to stop trying to get an IP address before that.Secondly, Absent a connection the cameras don’t record events. If they have powered up and have local storage I would expect them to still capture events. Then when they get an ip address return to normal operation. I don’t know if it’s just the IP address they are waiting for or an active internet connection. Either way they likely have all the settings they need saved locally so there really is no reason to wait on recording.Where I live brief power outages are common and can be expected every 7-14 days.————————————————————-On Tue, May 23, 2023 at 3:26â¯AM service@galayou-store.com wrote:Hi, thank you for your reply. For the first issue, this problem is more about the DHCP setting in the router. Under normal circumstances, the camera will automatically restore the network connection and get back online within a few minutes after disconnecting. If your camera can’t get an IP address in time after disconnection, you can try to modify the DHCP setting in your router to see if modifying the DHCP setting works for you.For part 2, the camera is a wireless WiFi verison, connected wirelessly to the router, and then install the application on your phone and watch the stored video recorder files so that you may not have the video files while you are disconnected. This is also true for other brands of security cameras, such as Wyze, Reolink, Yi’s cameras, and not only Galayou’s cameras have this problem.I hope you can understanding, as a developing company. If there is a mature enough technology that can make the WiFi camera save videos to SD card even when the network is disconnected, our company will also update the technology in time, because the customer’s demand is the driving force of our production.Based on what you said, I think a smart battery wireless camera would be more suitable for your needs. Battery cameras can work for months on a single charge.Overall, the price of this camera is very low, and his functions can meet the daily use. What’s more, could you pls kindly send me your order for checking?service@galayou-store.com——————————————–From: MeDate: 2023-05-23 22:16To: service@galayou-store.comSubject: Re: Re: Urgent, need your reply-Message about your camera-CeliaIt’s not a setting problem on the server. Other devices can connect fine even with the cameras just sitting there. The cameras themselves can connect just fine too once the server is fully up and they are powered up AFTER the server is running. It’s a problem with the cameras no longer asking for an IP address after some amount of time.————————————-The rest of the conversation was simply them asking me for the SN of the devices to check issues. Which the only real issue is the device not connecting to the network after failing to get a DHCP response after some time. Which should be a simple firmware fix.—————–<6/1 edit>—————–They now say they will work on the issue and will eventually patch the issue. I have bumped by rating accordingly. If they fix it, I will update my review. Which likely will result in a 5 out of 5 stars.
Overall I have to give the camera a fairly high mark. It works and has clear imagery. Setup was simple and fast and the ability to set the motion activation area is a plus so you can still see other areas without them triggering the camera falsely. But despite the nice features it has a MAJOR defect that I just found out about today. Apparently when on my way to work we had a temporary power outage. It lasted only 5 minutes, but the cameras were down all day because of this. It seems that The cameras will only try to connect to wifi a short time then never try again. From ~8:12 am to 4:30PM my cameras were down. Once home I connected to my wifi via my phone no problems. So I power cycled the cameras and they quickly connected perfectly. This is a major problem but it gets even worse. While sitting disconnected the cameras will not record events. So I have no idea what happened all day at home. Not good for security cameras with local storage and no excuse either. This is a major oversight by GALAYOU and one I hope they plan on addressing with a firmware update, if they can even be updated.——–

Great value security camera
I have several security cameras from different manufacturers and this camera is a great value. Getting people alerts at this price range is unheard of. The cameras from this company are reliable and durable. I have some that have been in use for more than 3 and half years and still work perfectly. This camera has a good picture and good network response. It’s easy to setup. The associated app is robust (see attached screenshots for some available settings). One improvement I would suggest is to visually highlight the are of the alert video where motion was detected.
