Box in Brazilian Portuguese, sketchy wall adapter not working
I expected based on the description that this is a US model. I received what appears to be a Brazilian one. That in itself is not a huge deal. The next issue is that it came with a foreign wall plug, and a sketchy looking adapter to fit a US outlet. Maybe I’m paranoid, but I don’t think I’d like to put that in my home long term, perhaps it could be a fire risk. Anyway, icing on the cake is that the power adapter does not work at all. The unit works when I use a US wall plug, but I don’t have a spare of those, it would cost extra, so I am initiating a refund.

Bigger than I anticipated
I didn’t check the dimensions of this device, but it is a bit larger than I was expecting. I was expecting something like the Google mini speaker I bought my daughter a few years ago. I bought a mount for it, which works really well so the device can be hidden from view, but it still hears commands perfectly well, and it links with my Nest doorbell seamlessly to provide a notification when someone rings the bell.

Great for a senior living alone.
Had my tech-savy son install 3 of these in different rooms of condo. That way if I need assistance (I live alone) I can ask Google to call someone to help me. I feel better and my kids do too!

Play âWhich language will my device speakâ Roulette
So the device itself is a regular Google Nest Mini speaker. Pretty standard stuff and this review really doesnât focus on that. The thing to be aware of is that this seller will ship whatever random device (in your chosen color) they happen to have. Basically, you donât know which international version you may get. My particular device arrived in a box with Japanese writing on it. I could get by with French, German, or Spanish, but Japanese is a bit of a stretch for my limited language skills. Fortunately, unlike some other reviewers, my instruction manual was printed in English.Once I got the speaker out of the box and plugged it in I was greeted with some words inâ¦you guessed itâ¦Japanese. Maybe it was greeting me. Maybe it was cursing my ancestors. Not really sure since I DONâT SPEAK JAPANESE!The good news is that the Google Home app on my iPhone readily recognized that I had a new Google Nest Mini speaker plugged in and began the setup process, walking me through the steps and updating the deviceâs firmware. Once this was done my device began to speak English in my chosen Google Assistant voice (British Racing Green). From that point on there were no issues and it was just like any other Google Nest Mini speaker purchased from a reputable supplier such as Best Buy or Target. In all it wasnât that big of a deal and if you just ignore everything and dive straight into the setup process with the Google Home app it wonât take any longer to get your device ready than had it actually arrived set to English in the first place. However, for lack of transparency on this issue Iâve deducted two stars from the overall rating. Just keep in mind that the diminished rating in no way is a reflection of the device itself, which thankfully did a great job reconfiguring itself to my locality despite the fact that it was originally intended for another market.Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto!

Doesnât work
It refuses to work. It just constantly says, âSomething went wrong.â You seriously could not be less helpful. All my network is good, I have all the phone and router settings right, and the device just refuses to work. A waste of money!

This is an international version. Comes with a weird plug.
I didnât notice this is the EU version so the plug needs an adapter which makes it stick out of the wall like 5â. Itâs hideous and now itâs all mine. Read the description or you too will lay awake at night with this horrid plug on your mind. Other than that it works flawlessly.
