I love everything about this show
I love everything about this show. The contestants are always so kind to each other. There’s no reality competition “villain” like you see on many other shows that are similar. I also love the diversity on this show. All ethnicities and walks of life are represented on this series, which I love because baking is so universal. The hosts are funny, goofy (in a lovable way), nurturing, and the judges are also very fair and kind. The cakes, breads, and pastries are all mouthwatering. If you can get through an episode without craving something sweet you’re stronger than I am. It’s also interesting to see the different varieties of classic British desserts and how they vary from American baked goods. A lovely simple show worth watching.

A friendly – but extreme – cooking competition.
I really enjoyed this series when I saw it on PBS. It’s a cooking competition show but unlike so many, the hosts and contestants in this one remain civil. (It’s the only program of this type where I’ve seen contestants offer to help each other with an extra hand to steady a pan, etc.) The different challenges range from fairly straightforward baking that I might make at home to mind-boggling confections, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

This is the only contest I can binge-watch, re-watch and watch again with the same laughter, tears and gut-wrenching suspense.Yes, one can cry over cake. I have purchased the cook books these contestants and hosts author and love every one.Note: I’ve only one criticism, which is actually a request. What is called Season One, available on Amazon, Netflix and PBS, is actually Season Five of the BBC Series. Can Amazon acquire the first four seasons? Please? Pretty please, with cherries on top? I will pout and cry till soggy-bottomed while waiting for all the seasons.

Much more than a baking show.
Fun, fun, fun…too bad someone bought the show and BBC won’t be producing it anymore. Watch the others on Netflix for free. This slice of British life is total fun. Mary’s expertise, Paul’s inscrutability, the humor and kindness of the hosts (as well as their occasional “oops, did I just crush your award winning entry?”) and the unpredictabile cross section of every day Brits who find rose water and cardamom a likely combination in their scone recipe… there’s nothing quite like it.

Fantastic season of a show I never thought I’d love …
Fantastic season of a show I never thought I’d love as much as I do. GBBS is a breath of fresh air in a sea of reality cooking competitions where everyone is out for blood. Don’t get me wrong, I like those shows too but it is a nice change of pace to see people getting along and being polite to one another. I love the judges, contestants and the hosts, it’s all gold!

If you love the show you will love these DVDs. I bought because I was frustrated with the service I was watching them on because the streaming wasn’t working so good with just these and sometimes they took off some of the seasons. No problem any more !

Worth watching.
Actually this was not my favorite season of this show. I have absolutely adored the other seasons, but this one seemed not to be as personal as the others. We did not learn as much about the baker’s private lives, and so we were not as emotionally invested when they lost.Still – there is no better cooking show out there. Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are able to give criticism without the ridiculous abuse that a lot of the chefs shows dish out.And if you follow the series enough – you CAN learn to bake.

The Great British Baking Show stands out because of the uniqueness of the judges, the FUN personalities of the contestants, the process of elimination, the humor, the setting and filming is so excellent, and the bakes are phenomenal!!I own all 4 of these shows…..LOVE them and have told so many people about these shows! Great fun!!

This whole series is a superior baking show. The hosts are so respectful, and knowledgeable but not in an overbearing or bragging way. The production is always clear filming is great, countryside is lovely, and the participants are relatable. Just people who really like baking, and they themselves are really good, and comfortable in the filming setting. As for the recipes, they are for the most part ones you would serve yourself, and bake as well. I am so sorry the series is ended.

Love this show. Lots of great baking without all the histrionics of some of the other shows out there. I always learn a lot, recipes are available on the BBC site if I see something I want to try, and the judges always provide tips and clear expectations about the finished products in the commentary.
