    Good in theory, terrible execution
Worked fine first 2-3 months, I remember I lost my keys once and it told me they were at some building between work and home, long story shot, the keys were in my car the whole time and didn’t connect to my phone…Going on 6 months and it beeps nonstop in my pocket, sometimes connects with my phone and other times doesn’t and has a long beep noise that irritates everyone around me for minutes long, pressing the button doesn’t do anything, waste of money, should had bout a regular tile for my keys.

Battery DOA (was: Can’t seem to ring my phone)
I’m changing my review to reflect that my KeySmart Max’s battery was DOA. It won’t take a charge, and only works (to the extent it works at all) *while* plugged in and charging. (This includes the flashlight, which will only turn on while the keychain is plugged in.) I distinctly regret this purchase.Original two-star review (before I realized the battery wasn’t charging) is below:I’ve granted the Tile app on my phone all the permissions it asked for, and checked in app settings to make sure there were no others I could grant, but my Tile-enabled keychain can *only* ring my phone *if the phone is unlocked and the Tile app is running in the foreground*. That makes it entirely useless for that purpose.Google’s Find My Device works fine for ringing my phone, but that means I need to get to some device with a web browser. I’d been hoping I could just use my KeySmart.Going the other way — ringing my keys from the Tile app on my phone — does seem to work fairly consistently, at least after a restart of my phone. (It didn’t work immediately after pairing the KeySmart.)I have not yet tested getting alerts when I walk away from my phone with my keys or vice versa.

    A very nice key organizer.
It’s a bit bulky BUT still less space and jangling keys in your pocket. I had seven keys that needed to be organized and the included pry bar (screwdriver and bottle opener) offset the empty space. the light is surprisingly bright and it seems like the battery is going to last me about two months overall. My only gripe is that It was not compatible with apple’s find my (yes, I know that there is a version in the pro model that does, but the light on that model is not great and the battery life is half and it does not feel as sturdy overall a the max).I know that a compatible version will come out later and when it does, this will become a six star review (if it were possible). It does what it claims to do, if offers a nice light, great tile track support, and it organizes my keys in my pocket freeing up space, saving me from getting stabbed by an awkward key jutting out, and it stops the jingle jangle noise of rattling keys when I walk.

    It works – mostly
As many others have said, it’s great at first, but after a year or maybe a bit less of owning, it’s started to behave very inconsistently. The battery lasts forever but it seems to periodically lose connection to the Tile network until it’s recharged and sometimes just starts making loud noises and won’t stop until recharged or completely discharged. That being said, it will always reconnect and holds all my keys, plus the flashlight is a nice touch (if you put the keys you would use in the dark on that side, you can use it to help find the keyhole in the dark). With a bit of updating, this could be a perfect product, but until then, I can’t give it a perfect rating.

Meh, compared to the old version
I’ve been a KeySmart Pro user for a few years, and it’s been great. When I saw this one promising a ringtone that was twice as loud, with twice the battery life, I jumped on it.I put the two units side by side, using the same ringtone, and I couldn’t hear any increase in volume coming out of the KeySmart Max – if anything, it seemed like my old Pro one might have actually been louder. My only real complaint about the Pro was that the battery life was shorter than I would’ve liked, and there was no way to know if it had died. The Max is supposed to be able to address both of those – supposedly, it starts to chirp when the battery is very low, which I do believe, since I heard it making some noise when it first started charging. If that turns out to be consistent, that alone might justify the purchase price. With the Pro, there’s been several times when I’ve inadvertently let the battery drain completely, and then had to locate my keys the old fashioned way (which was sometimes not real easy to do…) Since I just got this unit, I can neither confirm nor deny whether the battery life holds out close to the 60 days that they’ve advertised.I do kind of like the new band that provides an electrical connection between the two halves of the unit. I was skeptical about how durable that would be, but it appears to be quite strong, and allows for more flexibility in attaching large car key fobs, compared to the tiny metal attachment hole on the Pro.They light built in does indeed seem to be significantly brighter on the Max compared to the Pro. I’ve always thought the light on the Pro was somewhat anemic and weak, but the new one seems bright enough that it might actually be useful for the occasional need for a flashlight. (Perhaps it’s just me, but I could probably count on one hand the number of times that I’ve needed a flashlight to find the car’s keyhole. It just seems to me like there’s always enough ambient light to find the keyhole.)So, while I do like the new light, and I like that there’s presumably an audible indication that the battery is low. However, I’m disappointed by the lack of increased volume as advertised, and the overall build quality just doesn’t feel quite as solid as the old KeySmart Pro. It still feels pretty decent, I guess – I’m just hoping it holds up as well as its predecessor. I’ve really abused the heck out of that one, and it still works fine after a few years. Only time will be able to tell if I can say the same about the Max in a few years.

The band can make it slightly more difficult to assemble than the KeySmart Pro but not so difficult that I couldn’t get it done. This is only becasue the “thermoband” restricts how many keys you can stuff into the keybar even if you use an extender kit and there is no way to get a larger thermoband. But really, if you need more keys than this thing can hold then it’s the wrong type of key holder for you anyways.Pros:The flashlight button is at the other end of the bar as the Tile button. This makes it harder to hit the wrong button by mistake. This is a good thing. The flashlight is brighter and the battery is larger. The benefits of this are obvious.Unlike with the KeySmart Pro the bottle opener is not the attachment point for the key fob ring. This means that if you want to attach a key fob to the KeySmart Max then you do not need to keep the bottle opener on the KeySmart bar. Nice feature since it means that if you need to use a key fob but you do not want to have the bottle opener on the KeySmart then you don’t have to.Cons:The only real quibble I have is that the included Micro-USB to USB-A cable is too short in my opinion. It is just 15.5 cm (6 1/16″ in.) long which I think will be too short for most people. It’s a good quality cable but I don’t know why they chose such a short cable. After all, the box this thing comes in is over 17cm long so there was definitely enough room for a longer cable. I mean, if you’re gonna build a premium product that needs a USB charger then either include a long enough cable or don’t include a cable at all. Cutting corners like this on a premium product by only including a cable that is barely long enough to use is just insulting. The good news here is that any MicroUSB cable will work with this device so you don’t need to buy a special cable for it if you need a longer one.

I genuinely love this thing I think. I used to hate using my keys because the jingle of metal on metal would seriously hurt my ears since I have sensory issues, but this thing completely removes that sound! It also made my keys much more pocketable and removed the danger of them jangling around and scratching something in my bag. The little loop on one side made it pretty convenient to add a loop, and then add my tiny magnetic phone cable, but you could also just as easily add a car key or something. The built in tile functionality is a life saver, with a really good range and a battery I haven’t needed to top up since I got it. I’ve used it quite a few times to find my phone and a couple to find my bag (With my keys inside). I haven’t really used the torch at all apart from to flash at my friends to shut them up, because who doesn’t just use the torch on their phone right?Having a bottle opener on the multitool is also handy because drinkingPutting the keys in this thing was a little bit of a nightmare if I’m being honest. I thought the other reviews were being dramatic but no, it actually is kind of hard. You think you’ve got it, and you’ve almost got it done and then the whole thing falls apart like jenga. It isn’t particularly challenging, but it sure requires some patience. The instructions also aren’t really that great, but there doesn’t really seem to be any particularly wrong way to do it? I’m still not sure if the spacers are in the “right” way but they sure seem to be working. I am going to dread adding another key in the future though. The plastic construction is a little meh considering the price. It would have been nice for a product costing this much to be made from metal, but the build feels really solid nonetheless, it still feels like it will hold up for a long time and wouldn’t break if I threw it at someone or anything. I am a little miffed at the fact that they used to make a pink one but now it’s not available, I absolutely would have paid more for a pink one.Overall, I would buy again, as it saved my pockets and my ears from torment, and that is worth the price. Sad it isn’t pink though
