The Kidde Smart Carbon Monoxide Detector & Indoor Air Quality Monitor uses electrochemical sensor technology to detect poisonous CO gas in your home and alert you by sounding an 85-decibel alarm with a voice alert announcing “Warning! Carbon Monoxide!”. The Kidde carbon monoxide alarm plugs into a standard, 120V AC power outlet and provides battery backup in the event of a power failure. The lithium battery backup lasts the full 10-year life of the alarm, so you’ll have the benefit of never having to replace a battery. Up-to-date, real-time notifications are provided through the Kidde app, so your family & friends – even the pet sitter – can monitor your home’s air quality & receive alerts to CO presence, high humidity levels that can lead to mold, unexpected high or low temperatures, or Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs). Setup is easy: simply download the Kidde app, scan the QR code at the back of the CO alarm, & plug the unit into your wall outlet. You can also use voice commands to check the connection & status of carbon monoxide or air quality by pairing it with your Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and select iPhone & Android smart devices. A digital display screen on the plug-in carbon monoxide alarm provides real-time information on the status of indoor air quality and carbon monoxide levels. Two buttons are provided for easy accessibility: the Test-Hush temporarily silences nuisance alarms, tests if the unit is operating properly, and silences a low battery or end-of-life chirp (up to 24 hours at a time for a maximum of 7 days), while the Peak Level Memory Button records the highest CO level reached since the button was last pressed. Install a smoke detector on each level of your home and inside and outside each bedroom. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty (not a battery performance claim).
Industry First: 2-in-1 Detection – Carbon monoxide detector & Indoor Air Quality Monitor combo alerts you to both CO & indoor air quality hazards, in a single device
Voice Alarm announces the hazard type when detected: “Warning Carbon Monoxide” = CO gas, or “Replace Alarm” when the unit has come to its end of life span
Easy Installation: download the Kidde app, scan the QR code on the back of the CO alarm, & plug into a standard outlet
Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, iPhone, & Android smart devices
Indoor Air Quality Monitoring: monitors harmful chemicals known as Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs) that come from cleaning products & paint, also monitors humidity
WiFi enabled technology allows notifications to be sent to your smartphone (as well as friends & family) in the event of a CO hazard in your home
Electrochemical sensor technology detects poisonous carbon monoxide gas inside your home
First UL listed carbon monoxide & indoor air quality monitoring device; 10-year limited manufacturer warranty on alarm only – not a battery replacement claim, warranty begins when the alarm is powered on

Carbon Monoxide Detector
Seems to work. Easy to install and setup. Replaced old units that were well beyond their useful life.

Quality Kidde Device
I own a slew of Kidde devices, and I decided to add 3 of these to my collection. I got all three of them set up in less than 10 minutes. I’m using them to monitor the air quality and temperature in three different rooms. So far, so good. They’re working like a charm. They seem a little pricey, but when you consider what they do, you’d come to the same conclusion as me that these are essential for keeping your family safe and healthy.

Great CO and Humidity sensor, unknown accuracy on VOCs
Easy to install and overall great humidity and CO sensor. I’m unconvinced of the VOC accuracy. I’ve done so many experiments to check why there are spikes in the VOC reading during my kids bedtime. I’ve tweaked lighting, temperature, flushing the room with air, occupancy, I’ve removed every cleaner and solvent from my house, etc etc. The only thing that has been consistent is that when my two year old goes to bed – the readings pop up to 600 ppb VOC. Is it just people breathing in the room? Seems like a potential error from a low cost sensor. Would love to hear more from Kidde on the accuracy of the VOC sensor.

Helpful alerts
When I was buying this, I thought its features were probably an overkill and we may never use all those. But it keeps sending various alerts about VOC levels and other air quality alerts to my iphone. It prompts us to open windows and keep indoors healthier. It even alerts us when it has lost wifi connectivity so it acts as an alert when our wifi is down 🙂

UPDATED:Still trying to set up wifi…
I wrote the review below after having spent a hour trying to connect the Wi-Fi. After trying yet another hour, with no success, I packed it up and returned it this morning. We have a smart home, with several kitchen appliances, door locks, lightbulbs, Amazon devices and doorbell. We have fast Wi-Fi with lots of bandwidth, and itâs very unusual that there is a problem connecting to Wi-Fi on either the 2.4 or 5 network. This product had a card in it saying it was easier to call for assistance than return it, but thatâs actually not the case. There are too many other good products out there, making it useless to keep trying to make something work that just doesnât. BTW, it works only on the 2.4G network, which has always been the easiest one to connect to.Original review, at first giving 3 stars across the board: Today I bought an Amazon IAQ monitor and this one. I’m mainly concerned about VOCs since I have a pet bird, so I got 2 relatively well-rated devices to compare, and ensure that they are both properly monitoring. The Amazon device set up very easily, and I like the interface. This one I’ve been putzing around with trying to connect the wifi for the past hour or so. If it times out yet another time, I’ll be returning it. I will update this review when I know if I will be keeping it, but so far it seems to be more trouble than it’s worth.

Requires being plugged in
The device is fine, though it seems more complicated than necessary. The main drawback in my opinion is that it has to be plugged in; it doesnât run on batteries. Be sure you have a spare outlet to devote to the device.

5 Star
Had this for a while. Most important is the app is STABLE. You can reliably receive notifications from this app. This is the one to get. I’m buying 3 more.
