The bright and bold Melissa & Doug Primary Lacing Beads set is a must-have for budding imaginations! It includes 30 hand-painted, durable wooden beads in six vibrant colors, and two extra-long laces for plenty of hands-on play. The set of beads features five distinct shapes all designed for little hands to grasp, and the laces are thin enough to allow the beads to slide easily. Stringing the beads provides opportunities for pretend play and learning. The activity helps to promote shape recognition, hand-eye coordination, fine-motor skills, cognitive and visual perception skills, and creative expression. The set allows adults and children to explore multiple playing activities together. Parents or grown-up kids can ask the child to sort the beads by color or shape, identify them for the child, and repeat the activity until the child can identify all the colors and shapes independently. The lacing bead set makes a great gift for preschoolers and kids ages three and older.

Sturdy and worth the purchase.
Nice solid beads and lace. My monster chews on everything eventually and though the plastic on the lace ends looks chewed on, it hasn’t come apart and the laces are still in good shape. She uses the beads for all kinds of things in pretend play and they still look brand new. Great product!

Colorful fun
I ordered this as a birthday present for a kiddo I know and he loved it. It kept him entertained and helped strengthen his finger skills while trying to put the beads on the string. The bead sizes are perfect for kiddos who need to work on their finger strength.

Perfect
I didn’t expect much, because I don’t like Melissa and and Doug puzzles and I’ve found a lot of their other toys to be cheaply made. I was pleasantly surprised by this bead set. The colors are vibrant. It’s pretty and durable. I got it for my almost 17 month old, who learned to string beads from the Lovevery bead toy. Even better, these beads fit the Lovevery string! I actually prefer the Melissa and Doug beads, but I like that we can use them together, since my daughter still has trouble with the shoelace string. She also immediately put the beads in her mouth, but I expected that and supervise her. Some of the pieces are smaller than I’d like, but I’ve seen worse from toys that didn’t recommend 3+. Her fingers are too large to get stuck in the holes, so that’s not a concern either. I also like that beads can be used as loose parts. Overall, it’s a great toy for the price that will grow with her.

Great fine motor skill toy
We love this toy! Itâs perfect to hone in on fine motor skills. We love the variety of shapes and colors. Itâs perfect size to play with and easily put away. If your little puts things in their mouth, this is not an independent play toy.

Quality could be better.
My 2 year old does like these. Iâm docking a star because it seems quality similar to other Melissa and Doug products is missing from these. A lot of pieces have rough edges that make them difficult to glide, some holes are crooked & a few pieces even have cracks in them. Iâll attach photos to show. That being said – weâve had them for a month and theyâre holding up okay.

This set is great! The size of beads is great for little hands and to avoid choking. My 2.5 y.o. will sit and work at this activity for 20+mins. Awesome for colour and shape identification, counting, and fine motor skill development. For beading/threading, I find it really useful to thread one of the beads to the end and feed the string through twice to secure it on (rather than fussing with a knot). A storage bag to package this in when not is use would be nice to avoid loosing pieces. Highly recommend!
