Excellent and sturdy machine
I have a few complaints, but want to be clear up front: THIS MACHINE IS EXCELLENT. I AM VERY PLEASED.My first review was very low because the packaging for shipping is inadequate. All the pieces will arrive scratched and paint chipped off which bothers me very much. One piece (a pully) was completely snapped off. This was not FedEx because the box was in perfect condition, but all the stuff inside was rattling all over dinging each other up.That said, they replaced the broken piece and also a missing piece. The shipping took a couple weeks, but they eventually got it to me. Those replacement pieces were packaged perfectly and are actually the only pieces on the entire thing that are not scratched up.Either way, it is all put together now and it works AWESOME! This is a very good and sturdy machine. I am very happy with it. Their customer service was absolutely perfect. They fixed all my issues, so I am very happy. As for the functionality of the machine, there are a few minor things that were poor design choices, such as the weights smashing into each other on the rack. If you load up your weights onto one of the pullies, for example, and have weights on the storage part (on the back sides) then use the pully, the weights smash into the top storage (unless you have tiny weights stored I guess). So that was a poor design choice having it slope towards the top. Very annoying. Also, if you have weights on either pully system and then go do to a smith-machine workout that goes low down (like a squat or dead lift) then they smash into the weights on the pully. This sucks a lot because you cant do any workout that alternates between pully and smith, you gota constantly unload the weights which is a huge pain. Those are just minor complaints though. I want it to be clear that I LOVE this machine. Minor complaints but the rest is awesome. The smith machine is SUPER smooth and stable. It has a TINY tiny bit of “wobble” (seriously TINY bit, barely noticeable), but I actually like it because it makes it feel a tad bit more like a free barbell so you get a bit of stabilizer muscle work. I think it’s the perfect setup. As for putting it together, I did it 100% by myself and it took like 8 hours across a couple days. Maybe 10 hours. The instructions are flawless. Excellent excellent instructions. They are written in perfectly clear english and the steps are very simple. They also package the bolts and everything BY THE STEP! So it says “STEP 1” and all those bolts are packaged in their own “STEP 1” package. Setup took a long time because it’s a big machine but they really did a perfect job at making it easy with no errors in the manual.Every time I THOUGHT there was an error, it turned out the piece was just hiding in a spot I didn’t expect. For example, step 9 had two screw/bolt packages which I didnt realize at first so I thought I was missing some bolts, but I eventually found them. Also, do NOT take the plastic bag off any part until you are at that step. Otherwise you will not know which letter corresponds to that part. Take it all out of the boxes, but leave the labeled plastic on it until you are ready for that part. Including mixed-bag parts (bags with like 5 or 6 different parts in them). All in all… Highly recommend.

Big Improvement
I recently upgraded from the Mikolo F4 Power Cage to the M4 Smith Machine, and I’m happy to report that this is well worth the price difference! Much of this review will compare the 2 experiences, but will also talk about overall satisfaction. I mainly upgraded for the dual cables so I can do chest fly’s, but also because I’m somewhat interested in the Smitch Machine for added variation to a bunch of exercises.Pro’s:1. Packaging is a massive improvement. Not sure if they took feedback from others about how bad the packaging was on the F4 Power Cage and fixed everything, or you just get better packaging with the higher price tag of the M4. The F4 Power Cage was packaged rather loosely, one of the packages of bolts split open and there were lots of dings and punctures in the bozes themselves. I was very concerned that small pieces may have been lost. By contrast, this M4 Smith Machine’s parts were wrapped in a kind of durable, stringy packaging bag, and they had stiff cardboard pieces inside the box to protect from punctures. Well done Mikolo! Keep in mind to expect it to ship in 4 boxes even if you only get one shipping number – I got one box one day and the other 3 the following day.2. Cable Weight Slider is a big improvement. The F4 Power Cage cable weight slider was lifted on a square metal track with plastic wheels that were a little loose and would sometimes pop off a little bit. The M4 Smith Machine weight sliders are each on 2 cylindrical tracks, and they run very smoothly. Keep in mind that due to the design and pulley weight reduction, the total weight will be halved when you use it.3. Assembly instructions are massively improved over the F4 Power Cage. The M4 Smith Machine instructions are incredibly clear and helped make it reasonably quick. Pro tip: use a power drill (not impact driver) on low torque with the clutch at like a 13 (mid-high) to get it mostly tight then finish with a socket wrench – 17mm socket is what you need. Only 4 bolts were in a place that were unreachable with that setup and needed the tiny wrench.4. Cable Wheels seem like they’ll be much better. The F4 Power Cage cable would frequently pop off the wheel if you pulled down at a slight angle and it was a pain to get back on – this seems like it won’t have that problem.5. I love the height of this, which still fits in my garage! I’m 6 feet tall, and I can dangle with my feet only slightly raised. With the F4 Power Cage, I needed to bend my knees at 90 degree angles.6. I assembled the Smith Machine with the safety hooks at the bottom, but I may have to remove since I plan to use it for hip thrusts. Luckily it’s really simple to remove if I need to.Con’s1. The holes on the front posts for the J Hooks/pulley slider are not number labeled, which I’m finding frustrating.2. The attachments for the front post holes don’t go in as cleanly as the F4 Power Cage, just a minor inconvenience.3. The metal protector on the pulley ball on the handle side really grinds on the metal casing for the pivoting cable wheels when you first pull the cable down. Not sure if this is going to cause problems down the line, but I’ll keep an eye on it.4. I wish there was more weight storage – I plan to look into adding some to the other side of each of the 6 holders running up the back.Overall I’m very pleased with the upgrade. The new workouts that this has opened up are already hitting some previously unbothered assister muscles. I was between this and the Major Lutie with the same design, I went with Mikolo because it was slightly cheaper (got it for $1,200) it included leg holders for lat pull down, and the dip bars look more trustworthy to me.

Everything arrived in good condition and on time (early actually). It comes in 4 (heavy) boxes so you might need help moving them inside. All the parts are labeled according to the instructions so assembly was straightforward, time consuming, but easy (you’ll need 2 people). All the fasteners are organized for each step and the tools are provided. (see: Tips)The machine does everything its supposed to do, but needs lubricant for the smith machine bearings. The manufacturer said it doesn’t come lubricated so you’ll have to do that yourself. (see: Tips)This machine can accommodate a lot of different exercises and has been working great so far. Does it feel as sturdy as the commercial grade machines in the gym? No, but for a home grade machine it’s fine and doesn’t feel like its going to come apart. All of the attachments are useful, feel solid, and can be added/ removed to fit you’re preference.Things to consider: You’ll need extra space around the machine to use the cable components and access the weight storage. And you’ll want to have higher than 8ft ceilings to comfortably use the pull up bars without risk of hitting your head. So add a few feet to the dimensions when you’re measuring your space. Also, if you don’t want to constantly rack and un-rack your weight plates, use the smallest diameter plates you can as the bar and cable weights will hit each other if they’re both 18” diameter plates. I ordered a set that are all the same 18″ diameter and different thicknesses for different weights and that was a mistake.Tips:- Use a ratchet instead of the wrench they provide as there are a lot of nuts to tighten and it will save you time.- The manufacturer recommended WD-40 for bearing lubricant, which is actually not a great choice for this application, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, WD-40 (brand) does make a white lithium grease lubricant that will work for the metal on metal conditions of the smith machine so that’s a good option to use.- Measure the space you want to put this first as it gets heavy quickly and is hard to move once partially assembled.- Use plates that vary in diameter so you can leave them on the machine without them hitting each other. (You’re not at the gym so you don’t have to re-rack your weights for the next person ;)- Watch some reviews on youtube (before you buy) to get an idea of the assembly process and different functions.
