barely adequate. I didn’t have the suction needed to make the water come.
too difficult to get water through the thing. How hard do you have to suck to get these things to work?

Lifesaver!
As your dependable and effective personal water filtering solution, Ready Filter is your go-to water partner. This filter straw receives a flawless five-star rating due to its outstanding filtration capacity, small size, portability, simplicity of use, long filter lifespan, BPA-free manufacture, clear body, and relevance for disaster preparedness. Considering how excellent it is overall, the tiny resistance in suction is negligible. The Ready Filter is an essential tool that guarantees access to safe and clean drinking water wherever your journey may take you, whether you’re planning for unforeseen circumstances or you’re an enthusiastic traveler. Five stars for a portable and effective water filtration system that puts water security in your palm.
The Dude Abides –
As advertised
This is a harder to review item, because unless things get really bad, Iâm not going to suck water out of a pond to see if this works like itâs supposed to. I think to do so would actually require a microscope. So, as far as I can tell, this is physically as advertised. Drinking water from the sink to test it out tastes fine! It actually tastes as good as the filtered water does from the fridge – and the water from the sink if OK, but not the best. You can for sure tell a difference. So based on that test, this straw does have some kind of filtration capability. Hereâs to hoping we all never need to resort to drinking water from a pond or a puddle to really test this thing out!

So far so good
Havenât had a reason to use this and honestly this is for emergencies, which are much more likely when living in a super hot desert, trying to be active, and having health limitations (actually perfectly able bodied people get into trouble and have to be rescued out here sometimes on a weekly basis). This looks sturdy and simple to use, light to carry – the only thing that would improve it is a carrying case perfect for it. Feel much more confident to have this with me or in my car.

Seems to do the job but make sure you have good lungs first
Modern Needs appears to be a prepper company offering products for the coming Armageddon. If youâre into that, this product may be up your alley. It also can come in handy if youâre camping and donât have clean water. Or youâre traveling in areas without ready access to clean water. One problem is, to get the water up the tube and through the filter requires considerable suction. If your lung function is compromised, I doubt that you will be able to get much water. On the positive side, it does seem to filter fine.I did not have any dirty water handy. I used sugar-free mango drink and most of the flavor and sweetness was gone. Then, I tried coconut water and found similar results. Lastly, I tried tap water and found that it was easier to suck but still took considerable effort. The packaging says FDA approved but without any other documentation, I suspect that it refers to similar filters and not this one in particular. You can suck on it like a straw using the supplied tube. Screw in a plastic soda bottle. Or attach to a bag of water using the tube. I think it will work in an emergency but not everyone will be able to tolerate it.

Fairly large, more for a bag or backpack, not pocket sized.
â¢Overall Impression:-This is a good value for an emergency use water straw style filtration device.-But note that it is fairly large in size and length and will be easier to carry in a bag, pack or backpack vs pocket sized. It won’t fit easily in a pocket.⢠Pros-what I liked and what worked well:-Good value.-Good to have for emergencies, in a go-bag or for camping.-Has an attached neck lanyard to wear it around your neck.-Comes in two pieces, the main filtration cylinder and a large plastic drinking straw.-Has an attached cap piece.-Has a ring on the side for finger grip, lanyard attachment (lanyard included) or to hang it up or secure it.-Rated to give up to 396 gallons of water filtered through the straw.-Fairly lightweight at 2 oz in weight.-Instructions included.-Has no unpleasant scent to it.⢠Cons-what I didnât like and what didnât work well:-It doesn’t list what it does and doesnât filter in the listing.⢠Tips & Thoughts:-This is more for emergency water use, I’d still want and try to have a main more reliable, secure camping or emergency water source. But for a worst case scenario or emergency, this is good to have.-It doesn’t have a storage bag. I used a plastic waterproof zipper bag of my own (not included) to store it in my emergency backpack.
