Ring Product Support is Excellent
Original Review (1 star):I purchased this Ring keypad (2nd gen.) on March 10, 2024 and it stopped working after 4 months of use. The Ring keypad will not light up and will not charge. I have three other Ring Keypads that are working O.K.Update 7/26/24:After posting the review above, Matthew from Ring contacted me to help get my Ring keypad operating again. We troubleshooted the Ring keypad for a few minutes and Matthew decided that I needed a new Ring keypad. A new Ring keypad was mailed to me at no cost. I installed it today and it is working well. Matthew provided a prepaid mailing label and I mailed the old Ring keypad back to him. Ring product support was excellent!

Works great with first gen alarm
Works great. I like the separate emergency buttons that the first gen keypad doesn’t have. Easy setup.

Good keypad to control a Ring security system
I have several of these keypads in my condo. You can place them on a table, or mount on a wall per your preference. You can connect them to their USB power supply, or let them run on their internal battery. I have the one in my hallway on it’s own battery, and the one on my bedside nightstand plugged in. The battery powered unit lasts a long time between charges, so I’m pleased with it’s operation. These units allow you to control your Ring alarm, and also receive notifications and alarms from it. So the more you have, the better.

Need a Reliable Security System?
I added a 4th control panel to my existing Ring Security System. Very happy and feel very safe with Ring. Easy installation.

Bought a 2nd one so I can have it on different floors. The battery seems to last long. It’s easy to use and works everytime. So far it’s a good security system.

This keypad doesnât charge whatsoever. I opened my keypad yesterday and let it charge for 24 hours. As soon as I unplugged it, it stopped working.EDIT: Ring Customer Support reached out to me after this review. Even though it was passed the Amazon return date, they helped me troubleshoot the problem and replaced the entire keypad for me as it was defective. The replacement arrived quickly and worked perfectly!

Using the mobile app for the Ring system is definitely the best approach for a remote perspective – but on an actual intuitive perspective, you really can’t beat having an easy to access keypad that can arm and disarm the system. Sometimes you just can’t reach your phone (be it, it’s inside your pocket or in the car temporarily, or what not), this makes it EXTREMELY easy to use. Just set and remember your pin – and use it like a conventional style alarm — call me old school, but it’s DEFINITELY faster and more effective this way .Also useful when you want to grant access to a family member or friend, but they don’t have access to the app or want to download the additional app. You have these “wireless” keypads put anywhere – either it be hidden or out in plain sight. Making it with an internal battery was an exceptional idea!Having both the version 1 and Version 2, I do admit I like the lower profile of the newer style – but because it’s a smaller unit… it doesn’t always cover the previously installed keypad holes. So perhaps Ring can introduce an additional cover plate or such for those that are facing this issue.
