INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

“Very few authors have the power to make you laugh on one page and cry on the next. Moyes is one of them.” —The New York Times

A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is the new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars

Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else’s shoes?

Nisha Cantor lives the globetrotting life of the seriously wealthy, until her husband announces a divorce and cuts her off. Nisha is determined to hang onto her glamorous life. But in the meantime, she must scramble to cope–she doesn’t even have the shoes she was, until a moment ago, standing in.

That’s because Sam Kemp—in the bleakest point of her life—has accidentally taken Nisha’s gym bag. But Sam hardly has time to worry about a lost gym bag—she’s struggling to keep herself and her family afloat. When she tries on Nisha’s six-inch high Christian Louboutin red crocodile shoes, the resulting jolt of confidence that makes her realize something must change—and that thing is herself.

Full of Jojo Moyes’ signature humor, brilliant storytelling, and warmth, Someone Else’s Shoes is a story about how just one little thing can suddenly change everything.

A little improbable but possible tale of two women and switched gym bags
I loved the title and the idea behind the story–of two very different women who accidentally pick up each other’s gym bags and end up with shoes very different from their own. When the gym closes down, they can’t get their shoes back and have to live with the consequences. It’s a fast-paced story that operates on several levels, sometimes funny, sometimes serious. The main characters have a strong and intriguing backstory as well. There are a series of scenes that reminded me of car chases in the movies–a lot of action and attempts to escape detection while pulling off a caper. These scenes, for me, were a little unbelievable and/or over the top, but the more serious aspects of the book were quite interesting and appealing. Over all, I enjoyed the novel and suspect others will as well.

    Wonderful story!
When Sam Kemp and Nisha Cantor mix up their gym bags it sets off 448 pages of hilarious fun, serious drama, and unlikely friendships. It is a story that will remain with you long after the last page is read. The Marc Jacobs bag Sam accidentally grabs has a beautiful designer jacket and crocodile-skin-red-take-me-now Louboutin sling-backs in it. The shoes may be a bit tight and the heels too high but she can’t show up at meetings scheduled that day wearing gym flip flops and she has no other shoes. Plus those heels make her feel like a new woman. Poised, confident, a serious business woman who can close deals for the company and bring in new business for her abusive misogynistic boss. But beautiful, uber rich, germaphobic Nisha ends up with a Marc Jacobs knock-off bag containing well worn sensible dark shoes and a wet swim suit in a plastic bag.Sam’s two-man negotiation team pick her up in the company van after her work-out and rush to their first meeting of the day. Her boss changed the time of the meeting but failed to tell Sam. There is no time to go back for her bag.Nisha is sounding the alarm that someone stole her bag and demands to see camera footage of the dressing room to see who the thief is. The attendant reminds her that there are no cameras in the locker rooms. So, Nisha, wearing gym flip flops and a white gym robe, rushes to the hotel where she and hubby are staying only to find that she is barred from entering the penthouse and hubby won’t take her calls. Both women find themselves in situations way out of their comfort zones. Teammate Joel looks at Sam in ways that her husband hasn’t in years. Nisha finds herself adrift from her husband and their son who is in boarding school a continent away. Those issues are just the tip of the iceberg that threatens their homes, jobs, and lifestyles. As each woman develops new friendships and supporters throughout the story, the reader is left laughing and wondering what will happen next as there is no way these characters are going to get out of the messy situations in which they find themselves.I loved this heart gripping, fun slice of life as these women redefine friendship, power, and who they are. This is my second Jo Jo Moyes book but not my last. A five star read for me!

    Couldn’t put this book down!
One of the best books I have read! It would make a good movie! Good character development. The author ties the story up nicely at the end. Once again, Ms Moyes does not disappoint .

    Cute story, a light read
The overall story is sweet. The plot comes full circle with a satisfying epilogue so the reader knows what happens to all the characters in the end, and everything works out “just fine.” The reason I only gave it a 3 is that so much of the plot is predictable, and there were too many instances where I kept thinking, “That would never happen.” Plus, the characters often acted in a way that was just unrealistic. As a result, the story comes across as not realistic and, thus, not very deep. There’s no real meaning to be gained here. But it’s a good beach read.

    Great adventure London
Nisha is dumped by her husband of twenty years in the most cowardly manner. Sam, Jasmine, and Andrea help her discover how to get even without losing her own sense of worth. Such a fun novel.

    Great humor.
I laughed out loud on many occasions when reading this book. Great character descriptions. I have been reading everything from cereal boxes to Dostoyevsky since I was four years old. I enjoy GOOD writing and this filled the bill!

This story isn’t deep but it’s very entertaining. Probably not believable for some people but I loved it. I don’t have women friends but if I did, I’d want this bunch. I read the book in two days and very much enjoyed it.
