Whole house protection for new house with Square D Type QO panel
Turn off power at the main. This one snaps into place and requires no wiring. I did have to move some breakers in order for the device to be located nearest to service lines. Otherwise install was simple. Read & follow the instructions or hire a professional.

I bought this on a recommendation from our A/C guy! Protects the whole house, snap in installation, no wiring. Requires 2 open slots, side by side. Inexpensive insurance!

Warning, the PON (Plug On Neutral) is a must.
I did not fully understand that Plug On Neutral was an option when purchasing the panel until I opened my QO panel up. When I did, I discovered that many (all three of mine) of the QO panels had a plastic rail to plug the stabilizing clip on, and not a neutral rail. This device clearly states the PON requirement, but if you have a QO panel don’t assume that you have a neutral rail running under the breakers. Check your panel before you buy.

Surge protector
This was a simple plug and play install took me about 5 minutes. Hardest part was taking the breaker box cover off. I did have to spread the bar contacts a little bit with a screwdriver and then it popped right on.

Pretty easy to plug into your squareD or compatible power panel. Don’t need an extra double pole breaker so saves some money on the install. Hopefully it works for the next lightning storm.

Took all of five minutes to install. Love the fact it doesn’t need its own breaker. Hope it never gets used.
