Great Product
Purchased the Switchbot blinds with hub mini. Here is my review. First after reading through other reviews I unpackaged the units and immediately charged the units for about 6 hours (much easier to charge prior to installation). Then I installed the unit, very easy to install. I didn’t time my first installation but the second install to less than 5 minutes. The calibration takes less than a minute. The feature set is great. I originally just set a time to close on the first day and open them through the app in the morning, worked perfect. The second day I create an automation to open at sunrise and close at sunset – PERFECT. The feature set includes Time, Automate, close up, close down, light sensing, status of blinds (open or closed with percentage) as well as other features. The solar panel is a very nice touch and the app displays the battery status. One thing I would have like is a longer cable for the solar panel, I have a 3 to 4 foot overhang directly above the windows. I originally installed at the top of the window but didn’t get enough light so I moved it down as far as I could, works better but I will just buy an extension cable to fix that issue. This is a great product. I was originally designing my own using an ESP8266 and a stepper motor. I would have spent more with less features so I bought this. THIS PRODUCT GREAT.Additional review of Switchbot motion sensor:Setup was simple since I already have a Switchbot hub mini. The sensor works well and has settings for short, medium, long distance and a light sensing feature which I am not using since my blinds are already dusk to dawn. The feature set is a little lacking. There are no unique tones so you have to use notifications from the existing ones on your phone. You can disable the sensor from the app but itâs buried a couple menus down and you have to turn it back on after itâs disabled, what I would have like to seen is a snooze button on the main menu where you could choose the interval ( 1, 2 ,3 hours.

Excellent product with one easily-fixed downside
Iâve installed four of these SwitchBot Blind Tilts in my home â purchased a three-pack and a one-pack â and couldnât be happier with them. The one-pack I purchased was a âkit,â also containing Switchbotâs âHub Mini,â which is a necessary addition if you want to control these via your smart home controller â Alexa / Google Home / so forth. Mine are controlled through Amazon Echos via Alexa routines.Installation instructions are clearly written and the necessary bits and jigs to insure correct alignment are included with each blind tilt in the form of cardboard templates with adhesive. You align the cardboard template with your tilt wand, attach it to your blindâs headrail with the templateâs adhesive pads, and it shows you precisely where to attach the wand clamp and the motor mount for a correct fit. At first, opening the package, installation looks daunting, but itâs really quite simple. Just read through the instructions and you wonât have any problems.Others have mentioned trouble keeping these units charged. I havenât experienced any problems, and all four of my blind tilt units are on a north-facing wall. Itâs true that the solar panel doesnât keep their batteries at 100%, but this is to be expected when the panels are facing north and get zero direct sun. When I first installed these I installed the solar chargers on three but did not install the solar charger on the fourth. After a month, the three with the chargers were at 78% battery, the one without was at 58%. So even facing north, the solar chargers provide a small charge, helping to keep the batteries up. I charged these unitâs batteries to 100% prior to installing them and own a supplemental battery for my iPhone. Itâs a simple matter to unplug the solar panelâs USB-C connector from the unit and plug the battery in to top off the blind tiltâs battery. Would it be better if the solar panels did all the work? Of course. But there will always be these minor issues with any tech, and honestly, this is so minor itâs inconsequential. My ONE problem with SwitchBot Blind Tilt was with the unitâs bright whiteness. I have mahogany blinds in my living room and honey maple blinds in my bath. The white motor and wand clamp stood out and not in a good way. Iâve painted mine with solid color deck stain to closely match the blinds and now I donât even see them. If you want to paint yours, prior to painting tape up the wand clamp and the bottom of the motor unit. The wand clamp contains a latch-release with very close tolerances. Any primer or paint in that latch will make it unworkable. Learn from my mistake â I spent about an hour with an x-acto knife trying to surgically scrape off primer to get the latch operable again. Just tape the clamp portion and leave it white. The bottom of the motor unit contains a button you press to connect the unit to your network. This also needs to remain unpainted, so tape that too before priming. The attached video shows these two areas. Start with a bonding primer and follow-up with the paint or stain color of your choice. Loweâs sells âsample sizeâ deck stains quite inexpensively. Stop by and pick up a deck stain color sheet, take it home and match your blind color with that sheet, return to Loweâs and pick up your sample size can of stain. I used solid-color deck stain, but any paint or stain will work. One final note: Alexa only has the ability to close the SwitchBot Blind Tilt with slats facing DOWN. This was unsuitable to me. Hereâs a simple fix: in your final installation step â the calibration of the unit â when the app instructs you to fully open the blinds DOWN, fully open them UP. And when it instructs you to fully open them UP, fully open them DOWN. Alexa will now close your blind slats in the UP position.I have mine opening at sunrise and closing at sunset every day through Alexa routines. I couldnât be happier. For the price, these bring automation to existing blinds very cost-effectively. Go for it!

Easy install!!!
These are great! Installation was quick, directions in the box and the app also has video directions. Has multiple adapters for the thickness of your rods. Blinds can be programmed to open and close at different times and have running schedules. The solar power charging is a great feature can monitor battery life through app! If you only have blinds the bot can be an eye sore because you add components to the actual blind. It does make soft operational noise when they are opening and closing. We love them great value.

Very useful I recommend it
It is a bit pricy, but cheaper than other automatic blind options. Easy to install after reading all the instructions or even if you don’t read the instructions it is very intuitive what to do. As far as function, they are working great the battery seems to last a long time, but if you use many automatizations during the day the battery may last less, but the solar charger helps to charge when exposed to enough sunlight. I’m really glad I purchased these items. Initially, I purchased 12 tilters 4 hubs and 4 buttons, but I need to order another two more tilters. Now What I don’t like from them is hat they don’t open and close in a synchronize mode, or sometimes one remain either close or open, so I need to push the switch twice to activate the one or two missing tilters. The other thing that I don’t like is that there is not a push and hold switch that allows to open or close as long as you keep it pushed. Per my talk with the developers they are considering this option, so I really appreciate if they make a switch with this functionality. All in all, I think this is something that everyone should have it if you don’t want to open and close manually the blinds, like in my case I have 12 blinds that I open and close every day. Now they are set and I have different scenes during the day depending on the time of the day they close or open more to get more sunlight.

Work great with Alexa, I use the scheduled system to open close and you can tell Alexa, open ABC blind to 35%, etc…Would buy again.

These handy little devices make automatic sunshine as well as nighttime privacy a simple task. There are a variety of ways to automate but I like the simple sunrise/sunset option to allow the most light in for plants and comfort in the day and ensuring privacy at night.I would highly advise combining with a hub if it doesn’t come as part of the pack to get the full use of the automation and functionality.I have these attached to both standard venesian blinds and a set of vertical blinds. It certainly works better on the properly supported venetian blinds but it is functional for the vertical blinds. It is an expensive outlay but there are often deals and discounts which make a great value proposition.Solar panels just stick to the window and work, no trouble here and the batteries remain well charged especially in the summer months.Overall a good buy and I am becoming quite fond of SwitchBot products.

Super happy with the product. Easy to setup and performs well.Wont recommend buying from Amazon, rather head to Switchbot and get them there. Amazon does not assist with issues/missing parts.
