    Helps get the juices flowing.
I appreciate this when I just can’t seem to unclog the logjam in my brain.

Ideas for anyone on the journaling journey
This book lives up to its title no matter your level of experience with journaling. It’s encouraging and at times challenging in sharing how to approach journaling as a beginner, or how to move from a stuck place, or how to delve deeper using a different approach. It’s stimulating to read, and to turn to later, for a different idea or approach.Journaling to me, author of chapter 19 – Contemplative Journalin, is a safe place to uncover and discover your true self. It is a place of reception and perception, receiving and perceiving. It is a private place unless you decide to make it public. There are no rules (yay!). My imagination can roam unbound. On other days my frustration can own the space until it ceases to have a hold on me and disappears.I invite my clients to journal between sessions using a prompt related to their session to help them process their emotions and perceptions, both in the past and now. Journaling combined with mindfulness and meditation keep their mind open, curious, and non-judgmental. Journaling can provide the sense of spaciousness and safety one needs to explore our own true thoughts and feelings, not those we inherited or automatically jump to. Emotions don’t cause as much pain when they move through you, and journaling keeps the energy in motion rather than getting stuck. There’s something for everyone who wants to journal, and more, in this book.

    Full of inspiration!
This book is chock full of great ideas for jumpstarting your own journaling practice or for getting ideas for exercises to try with others. There are so many ways to journal, so many doorways into our own thoughts, but we sometimes get stuck taking the tried and true tracks. This book offers options that will activate different parts of the self. Personally, I often use journaling to deal with issues and problems in life, to sort through what I think and feel, but I also sometimes use the practice to stimulate my creativity, come up with new ideas, and challenge how I think and feel about certain things. This book is a great new tool to help with that especially.
