easy setup and operation
I’ve bought other wifi controllers and had trouble getting them to work with up to date wifi systems. I was so happy with this product that I bought a second one. I use them to control a water feature pump and patio lighting. The app is easy to figure out and functions well.

Easy to use, download app for Apple users
Connected our deck lighting system to this device. A previous device worked only with Android devices, and eventually crapped out after a year. The app downloaded easily and started working immediately, pairing with my phone using Bluetooth. You can program it to go on and off at selected times or just use the app to turn one or two of the dual connections on and off. You can also use one of two buttons on the device to override.

For about a year I tried controlling landscape lighting with a device supplied by a landscape contractor. It continuously dropped the WiFi signal from my mesh Eero system making it difficult to run a dependable on/off schedule. This Tapo device has a built in long range antenna that keeps the landscape lighting connected and on schedule. It will integrate with Kasa switches as well as home ed. management systems. Will not connect to Google Home via Matter
I thought Matter was supposed to make things “just work”. It does not. I tried adding these devices to Google Home 10+ times. Sometimes I could get through the process and it would tell me that the device was added to Google Home, but then in Google Home the device itself would not show up! I tried factory resetting multiple times, and either it would not be able to get through the setup process, or it would go through the setup process and then the device would not show up. Extremely frustrating experience. Every smarthome device that I own before Matter showed up had its own app, which was annoying, but at least things worked. My experience with Matter so far is that nothing works at all!

Simple and perfect
This was very simple to set up on the Tapo app. The plugs can be turned on and off individually or both together which is nice. Itâs perfect for outdoor use, the quality of the weatherproofing is great. I purchased this specific model because it said it works with SmartLife app, which is true, but only if you have a smart hub in your home for it to communicate with so another app on the phone. The other reason I chose this one is because it said it has a 300â range on the WiFi. It is about 50â from my router and has not missed a command yet so I am very happy with it.
