Perfect for nightstand lamps on each side of the bed!
This brand, along with Kasa, has been the most reliable Wifi-based smart devices that I’ve ever owned. I mainly use Z-wave devices, but their lack of quality control has been hit or miss lately. So, I figured that I could rely on the Tp-Link/Tapo brand, and I was right! This dimmer worked wonderfully right out of the box, and setup/connection was easy without issues. I was able to connect the dimmer to SmartThings and use it in smart routines as per usual.

Helps with your home efficiency
So I used this product to help control several items in my apartment that don’t have any sort of smart sensor or app to help control them. The biggest help has been with my AC Window unit. It’s helpful to be able to tell my Alexa (through the phone app) to turn on/off the AC. And it works GREAT! The setup was surprisingly easy, and with everything clearly labeled on the device itself there’s no confusion on what plugs where. It’s pretty highly rated in the electricians’ world; I had an electrician that I know very well take a look at the product details and it said it could safely handle everything that was attempting to do with it. It actually helped me more efficiently use my outlets with the spacing between the outlets on the device. Overall this is good buy.

Better when you add heavy metal plate (not included)
I didnât want to use adhesive on my furniture. I added some rubber feet to a small steel square and the magnetic dimmer switch attaches to it easily. Now it stays put I wish that pushing the button worked every time. If you donât push hard enough, it feels like it should have accepted your press, but wonât turn the light on and off, but it is pretty responsive when you push it properly the dimmer feature is very nice and also responsive overall, I like it. It works well on its own, but I love that it is HomeKit compatible.

Finally a lamp dimmer!
Not easy to find as you really need to be careful and not plug in any electronics etc into a dimmed receptacle. It can operate 2 at once like nightstands or living room lamps. The additional device that you can leave on an end table etc makes it handy to dim them without grabbing your phone and opening the app etc. Was simple to add to the Tapo account.

Not difficult to set these up
This is a very satisfying device to install and use. Connection to your WiFi is pretty straightforward, and the device works as advertised. The only downside is that the wireless button, which turns the light on and off and also sets the dimming level, is pretty light. The result is that, when you turn the top of the button to set the dimming level, the bottom is likely to turn as well, particularly when it is sitting on a slick surface (like a nightstand). The solution is to hold the entire dimmer button in your hand, or to place it on something that will keep the button from slipping on the slick surface (like a small piece of rug backing). Regardless, I highly recommend this device, especially since you can program it to go on and off according to a schedule you can set.

Excellent product
Overall, this is a great product that turns regular lamp into smart lamp.1. Installation: takes 10 sec to plug in and play.2. Software: Takes 2 min to set up Tapo account. If you have Kasa account, you can use the same login credential.3. Functionality: works smoothly with other home automation product. I used homebridge to link everything into my homekit.4. Con: controlling 2 lamp is a good plus but the function is not practical as most people want to have individual contorl of their lamps. A slimmer control of 1 lamp would be nice.

Perfect product
This extender is incredible, it works perfectly with Alexa and very fast, I like that it has buttons for the smart plugs so I can turn them off and on manually, I also love that it has USB-A and USB-C ports for fast charging, and the light night works perfect in case I get up in the morning

Utter Junk
Don’t know what TP-Link is doing but these Tapo pieces of garbage should be called Kasa TP-Nolink. Did they change the name just so they could make us all guinea pigs without tarnishing the Kasa brand? After 31 (No Joke) days, they refuse to stay connected for more than a few hours before I have to unplug it and plug it back in.The little knob they provide is dumb. It’s very light so, when you twist it, it just spins the entire thing and doesn’t turn the knob most of the time. It also has no indication of what direction increases or decreases the brightness, you just have to twist it and hope your turning it the right way. The granularity of the dimming function is also extremely rough. Much of the twisting does nothing until it hits a certain brightness percentage. Honestly, I can live with that issue as I usually control the brightness through my echo but I wanted my wife to have ability to just turn it on and off; for that, it works. In house filled with Kasa plugs, I thought I could trust this new Tapo brand for it’s matter protocol unfortunately, it even fails there. What’s the point of using the matter protocol if you still have to install their app? I tried over and over again to bypass their app and just pair it via Smartthings. Smartthings detects the plug but it will not connect to my wifi access point. So I still had to install the Tapo app in order to pair it.Lastly, I’m disappointed that each plug isn’t independently dimmable. Had I known that, I wouldn’t have bothered buying it and would have just got individual smartplugs.Long story short, just don’t waste your money on this and ignore the plethora of typos I probably made writing this dissertation on the suckyness of this product.
