Self installed security kit.
There are some goods and bads, though I think for my use it was perfect. I went with this because I already had the x-sense mailbox alarm. I was so impressed with it, I figured the security system has to be good.I already had the app on my phone (needed for setup) so I was able to start adding sensors to my home within minutes. The point is, it is crazy simple. I didn’t even ready any of the included instructions. Pulled up the app and it walked me through each device step-by-step. I did the double stick 3m tape for installation, though it came with screws and anchors if you want to take that path. The app also has a bunch of options and configuration settings you can make on your setup.I am a little annoyed that when you setup a new device it walks you through the painful setup step process in pictures and words….every single time. Even though it was my fourth sensor setup in 20 minutes, I still had to next, next, next, through the instructions. I really wish there was an option to “skip” the instructions like may other apps do.The sensors, especially the door sensors are fairly large. Surprised because I’ve seen competing brands and they are a lot smaller.I wish all devices worked the same. The door sensors can be used to just indicate the door open or closed (alarm can be on or off). The motion sensor can only be used if the alarm is on (home or away mode). I really wish I could allow the motion sensor to alert me like the door sensor does and not require the alarm mode activated. So a couple of small annoyances, but overall, I’m very pleased with this budget friendly device.

Great Starter Security System
I have been looking for a security system for my home. This “starter” kit is a great find. Comes with base station, keypad, Motion sensor, and two door/window sensors. Comes with all of the hardware you would need if you want to mount the different items using screws, but all of the items have sticky tape so you can just stick them to wherever you want them. The instruction manual is pretty detailed but easy to understand. I got the whole system up and running in less than an hour. You can even turn off the alerts for the motion sensor if you want to arm the system “at home”. I most likely won’t use that function unless I am home alone. The best part about it is, you can add on to the system and the products are VERY reasonable priced. I priced an outdoor camera and it’s $40. So much more affordable than “name brands”. I am so happy with this system. My next add on will probably be the smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector combo. They even have a subscription plan to be connected with emergency services. Highly recommend this security system. Easy on the wallet but will bring you piece of mind that is priceless.

Decent alarm no Smarthome integration as of today
If all you are wanting is something to alert you if your door or window is opened then this is the system for you! They do offer a 24hr service that will dispatch the fire department, police and/or another emergency service for a fee, but I haven’t looked into that. My original intent was to use it in conjunction with my other smart home devices since it was supposed to integrate with Alexa. However, it does not, at least as of today. After spending about an hour setting the system up I spent about 3 to 4 hours trying to get Alexa to recognize the devices after I enabled the skill. But it would not happen! Evidently X-SENSE has 2 products that will work with Alexa, but nothing in this kit will. Hopefully that will change soon because every sensor gave me the option to connect to Alexa, it just would not happen.

Decent DIY Home Security
Being able to expand by adding additional sensors is nice. The basic kit isn’t bad and offers a number of useful sensors. I had hoped to be able to more deeply integrate this into my smart home setup with Home Assistant – it seems that support is growing via an active HACS plugin, however, support is still not perfect.

Works well
Adding this to my set of smart smoke detectors and I think it works pretty well. Even with some rather bad edge gaps along my two exterior doors the open/close sensors are able to work without issue. Those are pretty basic, right? Well they added a “left open” reminder option so you know if the sensor tripped one way but never went back the other. I think simple things like that could be really helpful in certain situations. The motion sensor and keypad both work as expected and offer nothing out of the ordinary. You can adjust which security features are active when you’re “Home” vs “Away” as well as disabling the system entirely. Handy to have open/close sensors working while you’re home and then add in the motion sensors when away, but you can mix and match as you wish. All in all everything seems to work great and the setup is simple and straightforward with plenty of guidance through the whole process if you need it. Looking forward to maybe some more varieties of camera so I can put all my home security on this one ecosystem.

Decent basic system.
This is a decent, basic security system that, in my opinion, shouldn’t be the SOLE source of security for your home, but rather should be part of a system. The cool part about this system is that it’s expandable, so you can add sensors (door, window, motion, whatever) to meet your installation needs. But to me, this system needs to be coupled with a good outdoor security camera system in order to be most effective. If someone is already in the process of opening one of your windows and you’re just now learning of their presence, this is a situation in and of itself. A camera system can warn you of someone’s approach, and then when you get a hit on one of your window sensors, you’re READY.It’s a decent system, worth the price I think, but as I said, I wouldn’t rely ONLY on this. It should be one part of an overall security blanket for your home.
