READ BEFORE YOU BUY: The Z-Wave stick is for advanced users only, NOT for beginners. You must be comfortable with programming and have expert computer and Z-Wave knowledge to use this device. NVM back-up from 500 or 700 series Z-Wave sticks will brick the device. Do NOT apply NVM backups or firmware updates published outside of the Zooz support portal to avoid bricking the stick and voiding its warranty.
NEW 800 SERIES Z-WAVE LONG RANGE: Take advantage of the latest wireless innovation with Z-Wave Long Range that extends your network coverage up to a mile. NOTE: Your home automation software needs to support the Long Range implementation on the interface side as well as the end Z-Wave device you add to the network for the Long Range functionality to be fully unlocked.
WHAT YOU NEED: This 800 Series Long Range Stick adds Z-Wave Plus and Z-Wave Long Range capability to your DIY smart home set-up. You’ll need a dedicated computer (PC, laptop, or Raspberry Pi, sold separately) and home automation software of your choice (not included) to complete the system.
ADVANCED Z-WAVE: Works great with the most popular software like Home Assitant (with JS) and HomeSeer. Supports OTA firmware updates and and all of the latest Z-Wave library commands.

Works great with HA on a RPi4
I use this in Home Assistant running on a Raspberry Pi 4 and it works great.I’m using a USB extension cord because it makes it easier to put the device where I want it, and because I’ve read some people recommend it.The range seems impressive, but my old controller was over a decade old. Adding devices was really easy. I even removed (excluded) a device to see how it worked. No problems with that, and re-adding it was just as easy the second time.To install the Z-Wave service in HA, go to Settings -> Devices and Services -> Add Integration -> Z-WaveTo add Z-Wave devices to the service, go to Settings -> Devices and Services -> Z-Wave -> Configure -> Add DeviceOne possible problem is that other USB devices might cause this stick to disappear from the serial port list. I plugged in an ESP32-S2 and this device went offline. Removing both and plugging in just the Zooz brought my Z-Wave network back.

Seamless integration with Home Assistant
After overloading my WiFi network with IoT devices, I decided to start moving things to Z-Wave. I bought this Zooz hub, based on recommendations on Reddit. I plugged this into my HA host, and it was immediately detected. I added a couple of Z-wave smart plugs and the inclusion process was very easy. Iâm up to 17 Z-wave devices throughout my house (all from Zooz), and everything is working perfectly. The 800 series long range seems to work as advertised. This USB hub in my Home Assistant host which is located in the basement and has no problems connecting to devices all over the house.

Highly functional
This is a great little controller small form but with a lot of power. Best part is it is zwave 800 so it is ready for anything using the new zwave 800 protocol.

Simple setup. Strong connection!
The value for the money was insane! Considering prebuilt hubs can run around $200 this usb stick is everything you need for zwave connectivity. I use it on my raspberry pi 4b 8gb with HomeAssistant and life couldnât get much better. Everything is turned into a cross platform hub. If you like Google hub, Apple HomeKit, or the A-word you can set up your zwave devices to work with any of these. The durability of the USB stick seems well built. Connects to a standard USB type A port.

Updated: my issues have been resolved
Update: I made some big changes to my home assistant setup, namely moving off raspberry pi to a dedicated mini pc with an SSD, and adding an active USB extender, and so far all my z-wave issues with this dongle appear to be resolved. Also, Zooz support did reach out proactively to see if they could help. I appreciate that and I’ve updated my review to five stars and will update it again if the improvements don’t last.My old review:I’ve had nothing but problems with this when using home assistant and z-wave. Nodes constantly die. Adding new nodes is incredibly unreliable and slow. It’s amazing how much worse z-wave is compared to zigbee, and I have nothing but this dongle to blame. I’m going to do some more troubleshooting but i’m at a loss at this point and it’s ridiculous how much time I’ve spent on just z-wave problems when the rest of my setup is rock solid

Great for Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi
Using this product on a Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB) with Home Assistant OS. Every Z-Wave device I’ve bought has been able to include into the network.I suggest if you use Home Assistant, you should use the community add-on “Z-Wave JS UI”. The community version supports Z-Wave Long Range, and I have a few devices running Long Range currently. This is a solid product that works great for Z-Wave.

Good For Home Assistant
I have been using this with Home Assistant for a Z Wave lock. Connectivity is good, long range. Plug-in play easy easy to set up. Good value.I suggest you get a USB cable with cradle to plug this into as opposed to having it directly plugged into the back of your raspberry or whatever is running your HA.

I’ve downloaded files from Zooz website, updated the firmware to latest via Home Assistant GUI. I did not need Windows PC.It works great with Home Assistant. Range is good, no interference issues with a USB extender cable.

This stick was a nightmare for my HA setup. It didn’t work at all for me. I was advised it has to be flashed, on a windows machine, which i didn’t have.I eventually got it flashed, but it was still not entirely functional as it wouldn’t interview devices correctly.
